you heard that right, we are doing a DEEP dive into my very favorite and most convincing taylor swift conspiracy theory: Karma, the lost taylor swift album. now if you have not heard of this theory, over the years there have been many easter eggs and speculations that taylor created and scrapped an entire album that was slated to release in fall of 2016.
with all the twitter drama and cancelling, taylor decided to hide from the public for a whole year. since then, many swifties have discovered really convincing evidence that there was a missing era between 1989 and reputation, called karma.
in this video, i am going to be going through the whole timeline from 2016 until present day to share with you guys everything we know about karma. let me know if i should do more videos about taylor swift theories, this video was SO fun to make :)

The musical diversity would make amazing music I think. Most likely it wouldn't just be an new Era with Taylor it would be a new Era in rock and roll in general. Plus I disagree with Taylor, karma is not real it's a lie. It's just an invention of Man to justify their own actions. Their own guilt.

I would really like it if she released Karma. She would have more fans now that would appreciate and understand the album if she did release it than she had in 2016. This has definitely made me believe the Karma theory more
People are cancelling her during 2016.
If she did released Karma Album, she will be misunderstood further and that album will be the most flop album of her.
She needs to get rid of her bad Reputation. You can see it on her music video "READY FOR IT" in which the two Taylor standing on each other face to face.

I feel like she didn't release it in 2016 cuz people were canceling her so she didn't want it to flop so then in 2017 she scrapped karma and started making rep in January 2017 with different songs and lyrics

not quiet sure if this is another proof for the karma theory but: In her Lover music video you can see that the house has eight rooms in different colors, which match the theme color of each of her albums. In 2019 she had only seven albums but there are eight rooms and I think the orange room stands for Karma which hasn't been released yet.

Also, after 1989, it would only make sense if it was a 90s inspired album, in 90s rock was pretty popular and she her bleached hair is such a 90s rock style. In the eras tour (which I sadly can't go to 😔), she always ends the tour with her song Karma. And there's an orange door coming down.

Also in the somg Karma theres a line that goes something like Karma is gonna pop up unannounced 🫢 also theres another line that saids "its coming back around" which could mean Karma is gonna come back 🤷♀️

I remember first hearing the Airplane part of the Karma theory and just feeling everything click into place. That Taylor on the Airplane was BOTHERING me for years. When the music video first released, I just figured that we'd see her wear that outfit in a Rep music video, as some foreshadowing, but we never got anything so it was haunting me for years. At this point, if it's not an Easter Egg to Karma, I have no clue what it's supposed to be.

I guess for me I always thought the one on the plane was just another rep Taylor in the music video because all the ones lined up at the front include all the versions of Taylor for rep that we saw throughout the music video. But then I guess if she was part of rep she would have also been lined up at the front. It is odd, now that it’s pointed out, that she is off by herself on the plane.

Karma was written in both black and orange in The Man music video. Reputation was painted onto an airplane.
Black/orange + airplane
Airplanes contain a black box whose actual colour is orange. A black box is essentially a flight recorder... like an album containing records. It often says "do not open" on black boxes like how the album was never released to the public. I think this is why she used the airplane analogy and the black/orange colors.
The wing being cut off could mean the plane crashed (the era was scrapped) and we could potentially recover the orange black box at some point and hear the recordings/songs. Given how Karma was written twice with 1989, it probably will be part of the 1989 re-release.
(Edit: Now I think it's more likely it's song will be part of Reputation TV's vault tracks)

Here’s my opinion:
I think she will announce that her reputation era was initially planned to be “karma” and still had tracks like look what you made me do and this is why we can’t have nice things, but all the other tracks were forced to be put into the vault and re direct the album to “reputation” since she was in need for a come back from public and press. So having “karma” would not make her look good and adding songs about Joe would keep her on brand.
Also gonna include another theory onto why karma will be released as reputations’ Taylor’s version: in the man music video, it’s sprayed as orange and then black. It was initially orange but changed to black for reputation.

For me, I would love to see her releasing her Karma Album separated on Reputation.
Why? Because I want to see her music videos on KARMA that clumped all together in LWYMMD video.

And I think that the songs she MIGHT have written for that would not make sense outside of the OUTRAGE she and swifties felt because of the drama that happened in 2016 and we DO NOT want her to go through any more drama of THAT caliber again just so that an album "fits" the narrative.

I think this is the most likely explanation. There was an extra year between 1989 and Rep release, in which all that snake stuff happened. I think the initial plan was to release the album as "Karma" but plans changed and the album BECAME what we know as Rep, and there are probably A LOT of vault songs. I just hope someday we find out what the truth is!
Another thing is: we dont have songs about Calvin Harrys and It was the longest relationship she has after Joe... Soooo is something missing

I wonder if she had all these love songs for Calvin on that album, but when they broke up and it wasn’t a good break up, she just had no interest in singing those songs or giving him any satisfaction. Plus, she met Joe and probably realized how much better he was for her and needed to switch gears to sing about this better and healthier love.

‘Karma’ was also capitalised in the Vogue interview, with the subtitles. They fixed it a year later apparently, but for a year it randomly said “that Karma is real”, which is an odd ‘typo’ to make. Definitely intentional.
I think scrapping Karma was mostly Taylor's idea. Yes there definitely was some press from label too, that ''you have horrible reputation now, everybody hates you, so you can't release an album right now, because maybe it'd flop and we won't get any money'' But as we saw in Miss Americana how she said how bad her mental health was at the time and she needed to completely change her state of mind. So i think it was more Taylor's idea to scrap that album.
Not only that but I feel like her label didn’t actually control her too much in the music department because she was strong willed when it came to that and pushed to do the music she wanted to. 1989 is a perfect example of that because she has talked about how her label tried to tell her it would be a bad idea to change genres after being known for country for many years but she pushed for it and got her pop album put out. So I think she was more-so the one who halted karma if anything. Or maybe a bit of both her and the label.

Karma is sooo real. When I read the theory on what the plane being spray painted meant, so much CLICKED.
My theory is that a punk Taylor era exists, and when she got bad press the label killed it citing too much risk while her "reputation" is bad. Part of why she takes a dig at them in LWYMMD video (lifting the motorcycles). She was done with people not trusting her judgement after all the success of 1989. As if to say: "I CARRY this label, and they're not going to let me release this thing I made? Fine. Here's Reputation." I feel like so much of Miss Americana told the story as well, I could write a damn essay analyzing it but I won't feed the 🤡 🤣

Taylor has been vocal against the government and against record labels. She’s a talented artist who has done great in multiple genres.
Recently in her NYU speech she mentioned how she’s gone from country to pop to alternative to folk. I can’t imagine she’s referring to reputation as that album is sort of electric pop. When I heard that in her speech I thought she must’ve been referencing her karma era. She definitely has some alternative rock music we haven’t heard yet!

I've always believed there was lost music between 1989 and reputation because she's dated Calvin Harris for a year, and I find it hard to believe there would be no music about him at all. Like, she wrote a beautiful song like Enchanted about someone she briefly met, but she wouldn't write a song about a man she dated for a year? I also would love for Taylor to do a pop-punk album, so if Karma ever comes out, I hope it's in that genre. I've also always thought that the Taylor on the wing of the plane was the aesthetic we would have had if she hadn't gone through all her hardships in 2016- all dressed in florals and quite soft, not edgy. (And we kinda got it with Lover)

As someone who is seeing this 10 months after it came out and the 1989 TS version just got announced I think it’s entirely plausible. She said that there are going to be a lot of songs that have never seen the light of day on here so that could mean that the double album theory is true and I hope it is and all the clues are there. And that combined with all the evidence makes me know that Karma is real. 🧡🧡🧡
I truly believe she has an album as well, especially because you’re right, she’s always writing songs. That’s how she processes her emotions. She has so much material that we are waiting for her to release now, so I wonder if part of it is her business savvy not wanting to flood the market with her music. And perhaps she couldn’t officially re-record her Karma masters because if they WERE recorded but not released, then her old label technically owned them, right? But I’m totally with you. Loved this!
But then again she has being including vault tracks on the re recordings which I’m sure those too were recorded and not released. So if she can re record those vault tracks I would think she can re record karma as well
@@LifewithKrystle Ahh you’re right about the vault tracks! So maybe a large part of it has to do with not wanting to flood the market? I think at the moment it’s very important that her old masters be re released because until they are her label is still getting the royalties from them. So teasing Karma would be right up her alley to keep it in the back of our minds for later right?

Taylor thinking of/counting Karma among one of the stolen albums makes complete sense to me. Maybe she felt robbed of the album she was working on because she was forced to scrap it due to everything that was happening and what everyone was saying about her then. If this theory is true I really hope she can reclaim one of her lost babies and release it to us Swifties
im convinced that karma was supposed to be a pop rock album and she had already written and recorded it during the 1989 era (and was dropping hints like the ones that you said and also singing rock version of her songs in concerts), she was ready to release it in 2016 but with everything that happened she had to go out of the public eye.
during the time when we didnt see her, she worked on herself and started writing other songs (also at this point she had already met Joe and was writing songs about him).
so we're a year later and she's ready to release a new album but at this point she's in a better mental state and it doesn't seems right to release karma. so she releases reputation with a few songs from karma and the songs that she has written in this time.
then she went in the lover era and those songs aren't right for the moment anymore.
anyway, i hope that she's gonna release it as a taylor's version because i would love a rock album from her

you missed the part that some believe Karma is a rock album. There are several clues that support this. Okay so rock was very popular in the 90's and her bleachella look in 2016 was very 90's inspired and kinda rock inspired also. Some of her 1989 songs (we are never getting back together) she performed as a rock version in her concerts. There are others I can't remember but the last one that is also kinda reaching: she sang in Willow that she comes back stronger than a 90's trend.

What I think a lot of people don't realize is her bleachella era is actually when she was in the thickest part of her eating disorder. We have zero music videos from the time as well & it could be related to her appearance. Maybe she didn't like how she looked during this time, maybe she didn't have the strength for a tour, let alone an album. She's still very sensitive about this topic so i doubt we'll ever hear her speak more on how her disordered eating escalated to an eating disorder but iykyk, ED effect every part of your mental health. Maybe she reflected on Karma and decided it wasn't what she wanted to be anymore, wasn't the message she wanted to send after all.😢
Yeah I think at the time it was a good call not to release Karma back in 2016, it might of been a little to fierce for some people because I think Rep was a PERFECT transition. But lowkey rlly want a Karma album now haha

On the right side of the wall going down is the order of her TV releases so far (Fearless, Red, Speak Now) idk why they are in that order but who knows? (Only Taylor 🥲)
I think people remember reputation “edgy and aggressive” for taylor because of the things that led to it and the way taylor promoted it , blacked out Instagram , using snakes , using Mosley dark and black colors , making her only “drama addressing “ songs the singles .....it was all planned and orchestrated extremely well for the type of appeal taylor wanted to have with the album

Just that people thought TS8 would be titled Kamera after The Man MV came out. BUT now after seeing this I recall something Taylor said during Rep era. That she had worked on another idéa but said something like..
"I didn't make Reputation cuz I wanted to, i did it cuz i had to."
I always thought she was referring to giving her side of the story of the 2016 Drama. But now that might not be the only reason.
I think she means that she HAD to write, she was drawn to writing. In an interview in Lover era, she said "I couldn't stop writing. I NEEDED to write that album", referring to reputation, so I think that's what she means
I’m not a Swiftie but the fact that it’s along with the stolen albums in ‘The Man’ mv just confirms it for me. There’s no other reason I can think of why a big ‘Karma’ would be written there.
Considering now we have a song called Karma in the new album..the theories are definitely true

In the Man scene, you can notice that so far Taylor has dropped albums in the clockwise direction of the sequence of graffiti on the wall. Like Fearless (TV) being the first one, followed by Red (TV), then Speak Now (TV)(possibly), Reputation (TV), Taylor Swift (TV) and 1989 (TV) being the last re-recorded TV album. And since Karma is after 1989 (TV) in the clockwise direction, I think it could be the last album released (TS10 that was meant to be TS6...at least as per the theory.)

and what about the debut album?... never mind I just saw that the name Taylor Swift is right in between reputation and 1989 in the poster that says "If found return to Taylor Swift" so there's that.
That would make sense and she could put TSX on the the album to represent it being the 10th album (while also referencing it being a scrapped album)
One thing that actually makes me believe in this whole theory, we have 0 songs from the Calvin relationship. I have always felt that she had some music about those times hidden somewhere.

It would be really smart if Taylor to release a completely new (to us) album during the re-records. since this era is mainly focused on her old work, it would be refreshing to hear something entirely new while still re-recording her old music.

i'm not even a taylor swift fan but if this theory is correct, i really want it to be a rock album. Her songs can't connect to me and i don't know if it's the genre and i'm just a rock-metal enthusiast, but if it's a rock/pop rock album i would totally hear it all just so i can finally appreciate her songwriting more.
she has some cool punk songs in my opinion. like “better than revenge” and “haunted” are my favorites
I get that. I wasn’t into her at all until she came out with her indie folk albums. Now I’ve listened to everything she’s put out. Obviously not every song is going to be great, but overall, she is a very good songwriter.

Honestly she’s not a rock artist. I’ve been a fan since early 2007 and I don’t think she knows what real rock is. Not glam rock or pop rock. I've never heard of this theory before but now I am feeling impatient for Karma (Taylor's Version)!! Loved the rock versions on the 1989 tour
The vault explanation is the best one so far. Now we know that she thinks of her unreleased music as "from the vault", and the image of her in the vault in the MV really helps the lost album Karma theory more "realistic" .
The Man music video confirms Karma's existence. We know these re-recordings surround this lost album and I believe this album marks the end of everything. It will tie up loose ends and shut down whatever BMR has left against her.
Question is... when will she release it? I have a feeling its already re-recorded, mixed/produced, mastered, and awaiting printing (Because its not held down by the 5 year contract constraints since it wasnt an official album) and once her final re-recording drops, it will come crashing down.

in the bejeweled music video, the elevator buttons are said to be her albums 1-9 being debut to evermore, and the rest are her rerecords' order including midnights. the last button is orange, and karma's supposed color is orange. I think that the man music video and the bejewelled music video both hint to after all the rerecords, Karma will be released.

it also takes me back to when Taylor's gone very edgy on her 1989 world tour and performed we are never getting back together in a very rocky way that could've been an easter egg of her next era (which was a pop-rock album) that she was preparing for at the time ... I think Karma is real
She also performed I Knew You Were Trouble in a rock style that was amazing!!!! People always seem to sleep on that performance but to me it was 🙌🏻 🔥
She was struggling with a lot of heavy things at that time. The tour to me felt disjointed. I think those versions were more a reflection of how she was feeling at that time rather than a hint towards a new genre.
i would love to see Karma as a B side to 1989! i really hope she does release this one. to me it seems like Karma was written while she was kind of away from the public eye and then reputation was also written during that time, but later. idk if this makes sense but i see both of them kind of as the healing process for her, with Karma being edgy and reputation being more accepting. I do think for songs like LWYMMD and Ready For It she took those from Karma, and used the more calm stuff for reputation. anyway just my thoughts, i would love to see this released! great video! :)

I think Taylor should release “Karma.” Maybe just like a small EP, a compilation, or a concept album. Rock/pop rock/pop punk music came back I think this is perfect timing for her if we can be real. I couldn’t agree more!! Your Easter Egg investigation is excellent and YES it makes sense. Yes Karma needs to come out. She has talked about wanting to work with Eminem (one of her favourite artists), and that collab wouldn’t fit within her current album progression. BUT she has stated in interviews that she does want to do more rap even if it’s (at first) an unpopular idea. Looking back In 2016 she was reeling from that horrible period of time when she was under attack on many fronts (yes bleachella). Her therapy has been ALWAYS been writing (killer) songs. I think she has matured but she is still done with people constantly trying to put her down AND passing judgement on her personal life constantly! Even the recent reaction of fans to her Matt Healy thing. She can have a post long term relationship fling (if it was… people are too pushy into her privacy). She just can’t catch a break from media and even her fans, and has every reason to be angry. Let it rip Taylor!!
Just some extra things that hopefully you will see and mention in a video. There are so many songs that mention karma and the lines in those songs always sound like they could be portrayed as more rocky and pinky than the song is, for example " karma is my boyfriend" or "karma is a cat" I could totally hear being more rock like so what I'm thinking is maybe she didn't want these lyrics to go to waste and used them in reputation and other eras etc. Also you mentioned orange as karma and I'm now realizing around that time she wore a ton of orange which I'm thinking Easter egg? Also now she is releasing 1989 Taylor version (everyone thinks so at least its pretty obvious) that perhaps this double album thing will happen or we will get more karma clues. Thanks for the video! Honestly believe that Karma is real. I'm assuming that since it was only recently revealed that she was waiting for the go signal for her to be able to legally re-record 1989 and rep, she might still be waiting for the go signal to legally re-record Karma. Since she's also not yet re-recording her debut album, there might be some legal clauses she's trying to work around or work through to make the re-recordings be more special. Knowing Taylor, she's got a plan for everything, so sitting back and watching her genius mind unfold is always a treat no matter how long it takes to bring to fruition.

Another Easter egg i thought was too specific and odd was the Lobster she picks up in the Gold cage in LWYMMD MV, then in the Lover Photoshoot in EW she has the 6 pins of the Friends characters. 6! TS6 = Karma. It could've maybe been a "she's my lobster" reference to Friends or something more subliminal.
