Let’s talk about how Piper goes to the past wearing a wrist watch and how this started the myth that one of the sisters would have power over time
oh good god that is the best fan theory ever lol
Charmed has been my show for over twenty years yet I don’t think I heard one single theory until now 😮 how is this possible lmao
🤯
Blew ma mind 🎉
That is actually awesome and might be un purpose
I think one of the best directed moments of the show was the kitchen scene at the beginning with Darryl, Leo and the sisters. At this point viewers probably thought all five were familiar with each other and their ‘secret’ so this moment was not only an introduction to the b-plot but a beautifully shot, surprise moment of Darryl’s perplexed look at Leo and Leo looking at Darryl confused as if he though Darryl knew he was a Whitelighter already. The brief, subtle musical score of that scene was awesomely paired with Prue turning around with anticipation and concern for Darryl’s reaction. That scene and the scene at the end of Leo healing his blindness had a warm tingle moment to it. The shot of Prue and Pheobe looking at Darryl symbolized how part of the family Darryl became for them.
I love that b-plot.
Ooh that's an excellent point :D
Agree with everything you've said. Daryl actually feels like a part of the family as opposed to later seasons of them being an asshole to him. Especially love the tender moment at the end. "happy Halloween"
Piper using the Glinda star wand to channel her power instead of using her regular freezing hand motion is great.
Cole really acted his ass off through that mask in the apple peel scene. Definitely emoted through his eyes so well ❤ I was rooting for them! lol
omg. and uncle Cupid also matches "your true love name starts with C". i only now noticed that they remembered this prophesy for Phoebe
I wouldn't even have known it except for Wikipedia all those years ago lol
Uncle Coop also a C!
Prue watching her baby sister fly past the moon on that broomstick was one of the most iconic Charmed scenes
Agreed!
Definitely
I love this episode. I love Darryl being part of the action. Everything in the past with the sisters was really great.
that snake tongued blonde is looking better and better lol
The one thing I wish that they had done was a Winter Solstice/Christmas episode.
One of the reasons I love Season 3 is for the season’s awesome foreshadowing and storytelling. The cheeky play on words with Micah and Mitch and Piper inadvertenly foreshadowing or solving the mystery of Cole by saying “I think it was the guy who flirted with Phoebe at the party” who tried to destroy their wiccan line.
Too bad Micah(or Sean) was a
one-episode wonder and couldn’t end up with Prue in the end.
PS: I’m surprised you forgot to reference Lana/Isobel Thoreaux in Smallville during the 1600’s zeitgeist discussion.
Ah I never watched much Smallville beyond the odd episode here and there so
@@BetterWithBobOh ok got it!
I remember one of the Charmed writers (Nell Scovell I believe) said years later that there was supposed to be something with Prue and Mitch and the Virginia town from AHE, but because Prue was killed, the plot points were dropped. Maybe he was supposed to be her Mr. Right post Andy. It also would have been nice if we had seen the Charmed Ones regain some of that ancient magic methods the coven taught them.
@@MegaMagicdogThat's what bothered me too, the knowledge was never used again or taught to Paige. I hope someone put it in the book.
Do you know the reason why witches in England and the Anglo-American colonies were hung and not burnt? Because in England and her colonies witchcraft was actually a crime against the state (a hanging execution) and not the church, like heresy (a burning execution).
Interesting 🤔
people are hanged, not hung ✌
same in the bible ,they were against witches predicting ,healing or administering ...because it was contrary to what the king or doctors dictated .Most ppl couldnt afford and Doctors were often without understanding .which all happened aroung the 16th and early 17th century if you reverse some of the numbers in 1668 you get 1998 which was the year the series began .
i deduce that some infamous witches were tortured that year but already had heirs to continue the line
@@battlecat6766I'm glad you got off from that 😂
@@k00hki3c I don’t ‘get off’ on anyone being put to death but I do appreciate grammar. And I wasn’t an arse about it ✌️
Time travel, as a rule, distances the characters from their "everyday" troubles.
While those "mundane" problems can make characters more relatible, they sometimes get in the way of pure fun.
They actually reused some of the ancient knowledge in later episodes.
And became more selfconfident in forging their own magic going forward as well..
Do you know what episodes or where? I never saw after this.
@@VampireSexGoddess it's one of the later ones with paige, where she confirms she circled the house with apples.
@@saraa.4295 The Day Magic Died?
Probably my favourite episode of charmed!
This thumbnail is EVERYTHING 👁️ 👄 👁️
Twas a tough choice between that and one of them all in their costumes
@@BetterWithBobexcellent choice
Tis the season of the witch! 🧙♀️ 🎃👻🔮🐈⬛ Prue's fairy costume is the winner - SHE'S THE BAR, MAGICAL SUPERSTAR!
To have the sisters witness Melinda Warren's birth adds a sense of gravity to their destiny and the importance of using their powers to protect the innocent, never punish the guilty.
It's a good costume
Oooo a Beyonce fan 😍
it sucks Melinda was never on the show again and never really mentioned much after
@@michelleokafor1268 I pledge aligence to the hive until the last drop of my blood.
This episode is a masterpiece, while flawed. Sisters being without powers and basically learning "old-style" magic is great idea. While they get knowledge of magic 101, their magical shield with Phoebe's ruse was sheer perfection. It shows the strenght of each sister and how are they able to think quickly on their feet. It ties to Cole's arc. While I think it rather ridiculous to have apple slice form the letter C (I mean, how variety can you get), I like the idea. Him giving up or roasting Ruth was fantastic. The main problem fór her as an antagonist is that she does not really get a rivarly with any of the protagonists. I think it would be better for her to actually name Eve as a problem or something instead of being vague.
What I would like from this episode: motivations on the guy who helps them. I think that all we get is "he fancies Prue and that is it". I think it would be better for them to tie him instead to the coven, perhaps making him Eve's (boy)friend or a brother. Or simply making him a person who coven helped beforehand. It is dumb for him to simply have hots for Prue and dying offsceen.
Giving us more information on Eve's and Charlotte's relationship and explaining how did Charlotte end up in villain's possesion.
Charlotte is a bit bland. I understand they only can do so much but survival of her and her baby is the goal of the mission. You need to make viewers more invested in her.
He actually says that he tries to save as many witches as possible. He doesn't just save them because he has the hots for Prue. We can infer that he doesn't like seeing innocent people being killed, and most young guys have a white knight complex anyway so...
I mean it would be nice if prue got a vgue warning beforehand mysteriously, but a dud sticking around witchhunters to sabotge them makes sense
Apple peel wise, it could form the letters C, G, J, O, P, S, U, and Z, and vaguely B, D, L, M, N, Q, V and W. So, all the Allans, Erics, Freds, Henrys, Thomases, etc. are out of luck.
@@LannaDruwith my name starting with t, I guess I never stood a chance 😩
@@TCt83067695 Maybe if there were two slices in the water.
It's also one of my favorites. There's no more shows like charmed ❤
Charmed first aired on October 7, 1998. 25 years ago!
Happy Halloween! 🎃👻
My only gripe with this episode, is in the first appearance of the grimlocks, the victims got their vision back when the demons were vanquished, but in this episode Leo had to heal Darryl when his eyesight should’ve just reverted automatically
Ohhh I didn't spot that
Well, they just targeted children before. Maybe it's different with adults?
@@gg454lune in the original one of the victims was an adult
@@sierraalice8072 Brent Miller? But he was a child when his sight was stolen.
@@gg454lune still I think it counts
That's one of the best and most iconic episodes of the series for all the reasons that you mentioned. Of course the best part of the episode was Phoebe flying on the broomstick. Also, Prue had the best costume.
What I LOVE about Charmed is they hired Top Notch Actors with big acting chops as guest stars! I mean C’Mon they were all quality actors and actresses!
I actually love season 8's Halloween episode! It has it all! Piper being amazing and hilarious, Paige having her solo storyline turning into a ghost trying to scare the journalist and Billie with the mystery around her sister's kidnapping.
This was the first episode of Charmed I ever watched (it was summer of 2014, just a few days before my 10th birthday), and I still love it now as much as I did before.
Ooh what an introduction ^_^
I watched Charmed for the first time in 2014 too. I was 15 at the time. It was actually on New Years Day.
Speaking of time travel in Charmed - did anyone else find it annoying how still in season 7 and 8 and whenever they travelled through time, they were so unsure how it works and surprised by everything? (Like when Piper talks to adult Wyatt or when Phoebe talks to her future self - they ask such dumb questions that even someone who never travelled through time wouldn't ask. But they did! Several times!)
Well, when Phoebe talks to her future self, she's asking because when she went to the future, she assumed the body of her future self rather than existing separately
Great review, as for usual.
Some remark that I tought was quite popular from this episode: In the scene with Phoebe and Cole with the apple peel spelling out a "C", it did turn out that it was a correct prediction. The name of Phoebes end love intrest did end up starting ith a C, as in Coop, not Cole. I don't remember if this ended up being a lucky coincidence, or if this was taken into account for naming Coops character
It could be either. As much as people like to slate the later seasons for their continuity ("how did you do it last time?") they do have lots of actual continuity nods, so they could have intended it
I believe Milano produced those eps. She would have remembered.
Can't wait. Probably on of the best episode of season 3
Absolutely!
I absolutely enjoyed this episode whenever it came on tv when I was a kid definitely one of the best episodes in the series 😊🎃👻🧙♀️
Ah Prue's "Witch of Nature" costume is *gorgeous,* and Cole as an angel is enjoyably ironic. 🦋😇
Following your announcement of this anatomy, the episode title made me start wondering if that was a reasoning for the sisters' surname: Halliwell, it sounds like Hallow/Halloween, so an appropriate name for a witch family. 😆🎃
14:25 And let's not forget the S5 guest-star of Tobin Bell, the then-future Jigsaw, in The Eyes Have It! 👏
Also: I found out recently that Pluto TV offers the entire Charmed series for free online, occasionally inter-changing the two halves of the series, so I've *finally* been able to re-visit episodes that I wanted to so badly from your Anatomy series in S1-4, like Chick Flick, Miss Hellfire, and A Knight to Remember. 🥰
*Also* also, I appreciate the small callbacks to your Fashion of Charmed video (which I love), like referring to Piper as being "the Kate Jackson of the group." 😉
Plus, I'm currently in-season wearing yellow green "Casting My Spell on You" Halloween witch shirt and my new blue Halloween leggings decorated with bats and the full moon night sky. 🌕🦇
Yes. Prue’s costume and make up including the eyeshadow and glitter was EVERYTHING!! 😍
Aww thank you so much on all counts XD
I was watching it on Pluto a few months back as well. Gave myself some refreshers.
@@VampireSexGoddess Aw cool; I wished I'd find it sooner myself but regardless, I'm glad that's available at all. 😌(And great username btw. 😉🦇)
@@DJtheBlack-RibbonedRose Thank you. This is the only account in which I still use it, otherwise it's been retired and I just go by Lady K. It was a title bestowed to me in high school. That's a fun story.
I thoroughly enjoy this episode. Everything just felt right. Even any cringey aspect, it was all good! Prue will always remain my favourite sister and she definitely was the star of the episode. All three sisters were in harmony and they handled both plots great!
Ava: this magic is forgotten??
Pheobe: Well we can get it back if you teach us
*never mentions anything they learn from this episode ever again*
Bob would you ever do a video on your favorite villans in the series 🤔
Perhaps one day lol
Witches in England were hung and not burned, north of the border in Scotland we strangled and burned them (at about 15x the rate of England too). In 2021 the First Minister finally apologised for the treatment of witches in Scotland.
You'd think that by setting up a plot like 'dead demons can return for one night a year' that this episode would have more stakes and that the halloween theme would repeat every year ... sorta like Friday the 13th and Barbas
I really enjoyed cole in this episode you definitely see a bit of his human side
I cant take seeing Cole in those big fluffy angel wings seriously. Seeing him in that costume just makes me think of the Simpsons episode where Homer dressed up as "an angel from the future" and crashed the filming of a soap opera. 😂 I kept expecting Cole to turn to the camera wink, spoil the plotline for the next few episodes, close out with "Sexy results" and one of the Charmed ones to blurt out "Angel from the future? What the hell?" 😂
I NEED TO SEE this one
This is such an iconic episode!! Love the recap :)
I could have used more episodes like these. I always enjoyed when they explored their history and this didn’t happen often.
*It was cool to have the Grimlocks back. I wished they had brought Melinda back for future episodes though*
Great episode , nd agree, the phobe moment paying off the commets is the most memorabe, with micah thats saving them and chemistry the cole phope moment .
And cole being called by confused eve out on what he wants indirectly.
Tbh they didnt need halloween episode. I loved way more the fact that every Friday 13th was a Barbas episode. That was way more awesome that doing a yearly halloween episode.
Thank you, Bob! You have made my day!
Aha you're welcome XD
I miss this show so much!!!! ❤
Charmed was such a fun series. Phoebe was my favorite
Snake River Conspiracy is the band at the end of the episode. I looked into it years ago. 7 years and only one goth band, I'm bound to notice. Prue's costume is the GOAT. I'd kill to have to it.
It stinks tyler never returned to the show I loved her as melinda 💚💚
I am loving your chanel :) Nice videos and dedicaton !
Thank you!
I think it’d be interesting, if you made a video about, what you would change about the earlier seasons of Charmed, so that they aren’t stand alone episodes anymore, and there’s a storyline through each season like the later seasons.
I did sort of in my Why Season 2 doesn't work one 🤔
I wanted to see more of Micah and Prue in future episode.
I guess Prue was all work and no play
I loved Charmed and as a Protestant I never noticed that Halloween were missing😏. We don't celebrate Halloween nor Carnival. So I never miss them. Ok, maybe as a child you go in the Catolics Cantons to celebrate them, but that's it... What is Halloween and Carnival to you? I am curious
Halloween was never really a religious holiday for us. There is something called All Saints Day for November 1st but it's not really that big
Blessed be
Many thanks ^_^
8:00 -- "the only reason" ? I thought it got slapped with the R rating because two male characters tried raping two female characters during two separate scenes, one of the girls then killed one of the attempted rapists, the whole knife fight at the end, and the gruesome murder of the creepy guy at the start of the film. I don't think the fact it was teenagers dabbling in and of itself that made the film Rated R.
Love this❤
Ooh I would love to see you cover Out of Sight! It’s one of my favorites!
One of mine too :)
I always wondered what would happen to Leo... I mean, the Grimlocks can't kill a whitelighter by choking them. He's already dead. Would it just incapacitate him until he recovered? Or would a magically demonic death permanently kill his soul?
Yeah good point. Possibly he'd just be incapacitated and in a lot of pain
I love the fact that Pheobes true love starts with a 'C' but that its not Cole but actually Coup! I just realized that lol!
I was literally thinking "but cole is evil and pheobe is good AND Cole dies how can he be her true love?"
Then i was like wait a minute! Lmao! Love your videos 💕
Thank you 😊
*Off topic but Just before Melinda Warren died she was dating Matthew Tate (the warlock) but in Pipers wedding episode. they found the cup that Melinda drank out of at her wedding and Melinda did have a daughter. so was Melinda married than maybe her husband died? than she moved on with Matthew. divorce would have been frowned upon back than*
She was a Halliwell. No way she would let conventions or society get in her way.
In fact, it wasn't the first All Hallow's Eve of the new millenium but the last one of the former.
ah yes that old 2000 vs 2001 as the start of the 21st century debate. I remember it well lol
My fav episode of charmed ever! Where can tou watch it in the UK? Thanks for keeping charmed classics alive!
love this episode
*Bob, You should do a video on the many plot holes of Charmed. maybe by subject? lol especially when it comes to white lighters and the elders*
omg yes yes yes i too love that the representation of tools is accurate also that they corrected the falsehood in media about witch burning
I suppose we can hand wave Morality Bites since it's the future lol
11:35 Cole, Coop?!?! 😅
Yes lol
Why didn't they bring Micah's descendant back in a future episode?!
Make a video just about Leo and piper love them!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Are you going to do the second part of the ‘Why Charmed was the greatest’ ?
So you probably won't see this but i've recently discovered your channel and i've been enjoying the charmed content. I was interested in watching your vidoe celebrating the paige years but i can't seem to find it? Was the video deleted or could it be blocked in my country?
Thank you for commenting :)
It's strange, it might be blocked. I haven't deleted it anyway
@@BetterWithBob do you have a link to the video so I could see if it's blocked for me?
*I wonder if the apple peal spelling out a C actually stood for Coop who Pheobe ended up with. obviously, the writers did not know that all the way back in season 3 but I wonder if they picked a name starting with C*
I think the writers gave Phoebe's endgame boyfriend a name beginning with a C to honor this episode.
I love Charmed 🎃...
Piper\Phoebe/Prue
Leo should have been disguised in "Satan" 👿😈
In the end Phoebe’s true loves name did start with a “C”, and it wasn’t Cole lol
The most significant men in her life all had C names really
A Leo video you say? I wait with baited breath.
I love this episode and Phoebe's embracing the cliche. I'm a Phoebe and Cole, and the scene with the apple peel is a favorite. At least, they still gave Phoebe's endgame love interest a "C" name too. 😒🙄
I love the show explorer that time period more in a new generation but they won't do that
Will you ever cover the Charmed comic?
I have a friend who does that over at Words of the Witches
Didn't the actor of the grimlock and balthazar also play shax
He did yep, and he was the Source in All Hell Breaks Loose
@@BetterWithBob i didnt notice that so wait he played two roles in one episode
Yayyyyy bestieeeeee 💕
😊😊😊
That C moment is forever ruined for me, because they totally destroy Cole and Phoebe relationship and if you watch the entire series it stands for Coop and not Cole. stupid retcon BS
I always find so funny and how cringy Julián looks with that wig
Yeah I was never a fan lol. Micah's looked much better
I’ve been waiting all year for this one, one of my favorite episodes and the one I find myself rewatching the most (this one, pardon my past, morality bites & all hell breaks loose)
hehe then I've finally completed the set and covered all of your favourites XD
@@BetterWithBob exactly, I’m a little sad that I enjoy watching more prue episodes than Paige ones 😭
But didn’t Mica come back for later episodes?
No, by the next episode she'd already moved onto a new guy called Sean
@@BetterWithBob Can’t believe I got them confused 😂😂😂 I always thought the guy in coyote piper was Mica
Every time you say you're not a Prue fan, a piece of me dies. 😢
