Tips And Comments:
- Playing Technique:
Played on the bridge pickup with variating strenght (not much in verses, a lot in chorus). Bridge volume at 0
- Gear Sound:
Added lots of treble and some mid. Compression needed
- About The Song:
One of the most played bass lines for sure. The difference betwen playing it well or bad comes from the use of dynamics. I used an isolated bass track, so i think the notes are rigth. Maybe some positions are not played by Flea like i play them. You can tell me

I never realized how cool that bass riff was during the solo.
Me too
There are 4 arpeggio. In the solo
Neither did I...
Absolute, nice! Now i hear this different way than before.

The Bass adds so much emotion and backbone to this song
The bass adds always emotions to every song. I love the bass (generally with many songs). I do not play any instrument, but if, then I would learn to play the bass .
Choose to be me u should play bass. Very fun instrument
That's Flea. His basslines are as iconic as john's guitar riffs
Even if I have only guitar I play song with bass parts
@@pierdanski0254 i'd argue they're even more. Flea is just absurd
it's fleas bass that takes red hot chili peppers music to another level
Just his bass?
@@NitromantoHDTR to be fair when they first started, that bass work is what gave them a signature unique sound compared to the rest of the bands at the time, also fleas work of mixing funk with punk while making his riffs melodic at the same time was something hard to miss, not to mention him his riffs often syncopated with vocals drums and the guitar adding even more to the peppers signature sound, yes the bass cannot be overlooked in this case, in many other bands you can easily remove the bass and while not sounding “as full” it still mostly the same, you take the bass out of the majority of peppers songs and they will have nowhere near the same sound or feel
@@antonvoltchok7794 that's not what I meant, I made a joke. Of course his bass is freakin amazing, but I was just joking about the fact that what Francis commented sounded like he just meant flea's bass and not flea and his bass. Like the bass had a mind of its own.
Without Flea (or Anthony) there's no Red Hot Chili Peppers. That's a fact.
Facts
still one of the most iconic basslines of its time. Thank lord he gave us Flea
Word. Flea's attitude on life and music also inspire me. Just a joy to be around his vibe in general.
@@pluto488 he dreams of californication
Yep agreed, 1 of many awesome lines from Flea. Easy to play and sounds so good, really gets the listeners ear on this song even if your not a bass player or aware of bass in music.
His style, funk, punk and rock combined, legendary!!!
not to be a jerk but i think flea was clearly inspired by the rain song for this riff. pagey, the rain song at 01:26
I've searched many bass covers and have landed on this channel over and over again. Never a disappointment. Thanks for the great covers.
The bass in this song truly makes it as good as it is. If it wasn’t there, then it would really just feel, empty. The bass is so quiet on songs like this however, that you don’t notice it’s there until it’s gone.
the low frequencies act just like that, you dont hear them that much, unless you're a player yourself- but you feel them.

The solo part is so beautiful!
and a pain in the ass lol
Agreed, I just had a music concert and got to play it
@@erikboris5634 It gets easier. My grey-haired self no longer finds it as difficult as my brown-haired self did.
Dope! I think i'll buy a bass :P
Do it! And stay with it, I've been playing bass for a month and can't help but play daily =) it's a great instrument.
get an Ibanez
If your a beginner I recommend an epiphone EB0 bass
+i am nothing much I bought a squier jaguar shortscale :)
+derf cool
Can you do Under the Bridge by RHCP?
Jason Scott-Field That was done in Davie504's channel.
That song was the first one I ever learned!
Flea is truly a great bassist. In the mold of giants like James Jamerson, his melodic lines do more than just support the song.. they ARE the song
you play , and we enjoy !
all my respect from Syria
Thank you!
Im curious. How is it like livin in syria?
Its explosive
+Spagooti that's disgusting, living in Syria would be the bomb
Are you SYRIAus? This was a good joke i guess.
the bass riff during the solo is the most beautiful thing i have ever seen. I am learning some bass through your videos for some months now, and havent watched this one until today. That riff, in the guitar solo, made me almost cry.. you did it beautifully! thanks so much for that!
Hell yeah! After 10 months of playing bASS, I think I've finally came to a piont where I'm actually getting better! It is just amazing to feel that I'm improving and getting closer to my dreams every day.
Yeah, practice and try harder things - it's worth it!
I love that fill at 4:56
*The most satisfying things ever*
NAIL THE INTRO
"The Call of Ktulu" by Metallica
OMG YESSSSSSS THAT WOULD BE SOOOOOOOO AWESOME 👍🏼
Pulling teeth
Oh my god that is the most fun bassline I have learned in a REALLY long time too.
Hi man. It started all when I was 14 with this song 🙄🙂 Didn't play for many years. Started playing again few months ago. Thanks for sharing stuff like this ✌🤘🤙
Shenpai is here- Just keep playing, learn songs or make your own riffs, whatever you enjoy to do. You might go through phases where you don’t play for months or even years like me, I started playing 8 years ago when i was 14, borrowed my friends bass and went from there. I’m not amazing now but I’m pretty good, even if I don’t play for months because you lose interest you will soon regain it.
this channel is the most useful musical tool i have ever found. always been a lead guitarist but am filling in now as a bassist in a cover band and this damn channel has had EVERYTHING ive needed from rhcp to cranberries to miranda lambert. and its ALWAYS consistently good quality, easy to follow, clear tabs, accurate! thank you
Impressive, but can you... Damn it, wrong channel :(
See what you did there
BASSlifornication
Davie504
Lol
Lol
The bass doesn’t add to the song…it IS the song 😍
I've been playing bass for about 4 months now, I love the sound of it. This by far is the best .
"Orion" by Metallica, "Behind The Sun" by RHCP and "The Real Me" and "Boris The Spider" both by The Who. Great job on this one as well.
+coldwar45 behind the sun
kjdxysz rmfdomg I know man! I love that opening bass line.
When I only played guitar I only HEARD guitar. Now that I have a bass and beginning to learn I’m hearing so much more in my favorite songs. I mean you always hear everything in the mix but when you focus the instrument really stands out. Flea and Justin Chancellor are two to me that don’t just provide bottom end or follow lead guitar with single note rhythm. These two are conveying an underlying emotion.
Thanks for these tabs man. Really accelerating my progress to playing these songs along to the albums I love.
Listened to this song like 100 times now and I just noticed. bass lick before each chorus changes each time. Before the. First chorus it’s quite high, the second one is deeper, and before the final chorus it’s deepest and darkest of all.
That bass riff during the solo is just so damn beautiful
Agreed, I just had a music concert and we played this song
by far the best bass tabs channel. 9 times out of ten when i search a random song id like, to learn youve got it.

Sucesso pra você!
That awesome... I just got a BIG smile when i watch your vid's !
I wish I could find a Bassist this good, congratulations man!
Never thought I would ever be able to play this song! Thanks for these videos! They motivate me to pick up my bass ❤️
Beautiful song, nice to see a song have complex bass leads like this
All this time I thought bass was never given enough gratitude but these songs really just give bass the appreciation it needs.
Здравствуйте. Очень грамотно,табы,постановка рук,все без лишних понтов,Спасибо!!!
Woo!! Just picked up a bass for the first time in like 6 years! I always thought the bass to this song was gonna be simple 😅 it is more intricate than I realized! Very cool!! Thanks, dude!
Muito legal ! Cara você toca muita ! Meus parabéns ! Gosto muito da parte do contra baixo das musicas em especial do hed hot ! Abraços.
amazing cover I LOVE IT💞!! greetings from argentina🇦🇷👏👏
Bro me hice adicta a tus videos, gracias a ellos ahora si tengo motivación para continuar tocando.
Respect dude, nicely played and the tab goes really clear. THX
i finally got that god damn guitar solo down, took like a solid 2 days of practice straight, jesus
I just picked up the bass, you're amazing, you definitely inspire me!
i wish my fingers get stoned like those! Cheers from Brazil! nice musician and music
It's intro tone damn so satisfying
that reach from 9 to 14 for the bridge is pretty brutal, i'll leave that to the experts
I can only just reach when I'm sitting down but then again I have small hands. You could always bring your thumb to the fretboard 😂
Right??? There's just no fucking way I can do it with my hands 😭
1:14 when bass execute it, best!
The bass part for the guitar solo is just so good
Awesome and love that move at 1:25!
*Googles how to make hands bigger for 9 to 14 fret stretch*
:(
Underrated comment
use index and pinky or just give up
@@mecate818 With small hands comes great determination. I can get it like 80% of the time at this point, just gotta be quick and accurate since I cant hit the stretch I gotta pull off and hit it quick and get back to it. Its weird, but I'm determined dammit. I don;t own a fleabass to NOT be able to play the entire RCHP Catalogue
Get a short scale as you first bass
(~ 30in neck). They sound just as good. Practice with that and when it’s time to get a second bass get a full scale bass !
@@dbp6747 Ive been playing for going on 10 years at this point mate. Might look into getting a short scale as a third bass though lol
é de tirar o fôlego .muito lindo
This is great. It's the only way I've learnt bass since Covid days and nights. Keep going.
This helped me out a ton, absolutely knocked this one out of the park!
Nice job, as always
21st Century Schizoid Man, and I can finally die in peace
Is that insane or something?
Awesome cover!👍
Absolutely sick!
Essa música é massa
This is an excellent cover, I got the Hal Leonard RHCP book, it sounds bang on what it says in there. I came here to check out technique and timing, love the tone.
Always easy to spot our friends from the UK.
Everyone goes on about Fleas slap technique but its his melodic lines like here where he really shows hia true skills
Love your channel, it's been a big help to me after taking a looooog break from playing, would like to become a patron buts fund's are real tight, keep up the inspiration your putting out for people 👍
hola, saludos desde puerto montt, eris super bueno, puedes hacer anesthesia (pulling teeth)- cliff burton??
The chemistry of Flea and Frusciante is insane. The Red Hot Chili Peppers don't sound right without Frusciante though. He's like a puzzle piece that you lose every so often.
Real nice tone, beautiful job.
this music with bassline is perfect
"Yes - Roundabout" would be greatly appreciated!
Wish granted
Another incredible bassline from Flea.
This is the best birthday present ever I can’t thank you enough 😎🐍🧙♀️
so clean I love it
Great job at doing this by ear and your playing was excellent. The only part that I think is slightly off is the solo. I am like 99% sure that Flea use a quite a lot double stops during the "A" part of the solo. Other than that, the fills seem quite accurate (though I think you added a bit of your own flare to one or two, which is not a bad thing). Your videos help a lot of people, and in the end, that is what makes your channel successful.
I also forgot to add that I believe that during the second "B" section of the solo, Flea outlines all the chords with 1 5 8 1 and not 15 8 5 as you do for most chords. The two ways sound very identical, so I could be wrong myself.
Zach Morrow
Yeah flea 100% uses double stops in the solo.
Hi! thanks for this video. I have a question - is it my mistake, or actually the first chorus in your cover is twice as long as the original first chorus? (in the original, the first chorus is like 10 second duration, yours is 20)
It's a difference between the greatest hits version
Lior Zisman
@@CoverSolutions Should be great to precise on the intro text and the file that you shares is the original version ;-)
so clear and smooth. i like.
Amazing thank you! I ha e been looking for this bass line💕😍👌💯
Love this tab but, your folder says it is no longer available. Anyway to get a copy of this? Thanks!
Need to get this down in 3 days I have the basic riff and basic chorus bit but all the fancy bits and the part over the bridge/solo not so much
Beautiful song and cover! Very well played than you for sharing, you play awesome!
This is beautiful! I'm not even close but I'll keep practicing
I remember as a teen I learned the majority of this by ear and i was playing it right which is impressive
Great way to start the morning... coffee in one hand bass in another. And this
its so easy yet so beautiful!
RHCP- Dark Necessities
+Mojo Matters Yes please, but it's the same as Can't Stop tho...
Jacob Deschamps it is not like can't stop, I'm sorry your untrained baby ears can't tell.
Downy Bleach
It is absolutely nothing like “can’t stop” it’s not the same rhythm or key. It’s bpm is different. And just in general, it’s nothing like “can’t stop”
Jay 0588 that's literally what I said, are you blind?
@Ajax Aridas sorry for some reason I think I thought he was that Jacob guy.
please, play turn it again by the RHCP!
I need to learn to play this song!
Congratulations! You play very well!
First of all wanted to say this is amazing. Great job! Was wondering if anyone had ideas of great videos to check out, besides this awesome one! I want to get into playing bass.
I like how this song really forces you to use the pinky finger
Queria que saise a música A Quick One, do The Who, versão gravada no Rolling Stones in circo💙💙🔥🔥
I decided to try my hand(s) at this after getting Otherside down. Not totally consistent with the HOs/POs yet and I thought we had a similar hand size but that 9th fret to 14th fret stretch is a bit too much for me so I'm doing a microshift/slide instead and it still sounds alright. Great cover. Great bass line.
The power of Mr. FLEA !!!!!!!!!!
3:45 im quitting the bass forever...awesome
RHCP - Higher Ground
This is amazing man! Thank you!
Thank you very much again :)
You are really helping out starting bass players like me :)
pls bon jovi it''s my life for 4 string

Very good for play.FC Thailand 🇹🇭
Thanks thanks thanks!! I have to learn this song for my band in a music school, and your tab are better than the teacher 's tab 😂.. And with the video.. just perfect 👌!!
