Tips And Comments:
- Playing Technique:
Fingered parts played next to the bridge pickup with middle strength.
Slap Parts played close to the end of the fretboard with LOTS of strength (blister alert)
Neck pickup knob at 0, bridge at full. Tone knobs at full
- Gear Sound:
Bass at 1 o clock, Mid at 10, Treble at 4 or 5
- About The Song:
I used an isolated bass part to transcribe, i think it's accurate. Missed some parts in the video. Flea slaps REALLY hard and it might be painful.
Need more tips? Just comment!
*All the tabs in this channel are created by me, if you have any advice in the transcription feel free to comment!

Thanks for watching!
Do you cover any Brian Jonestown Massacre?
First 50 seconds: "Can't Stop"
After 50 seconds: "Can I Stop?"
LMAOOOO
THIS MADE ME CACKLE SO HARD ALONE IN MY ROOM AT 1AM 😭😭
LMAO
electric guitar is badass, especially in solos, but the bass delivers that kickass tune that drives you crazy for ages.
+Niceguy3210 that guitar intro is also superb on this song, Frusciante has just a really good feeling on his sound
Absolutely! Bass gives the __groove__ to the music.
You hear the Music, but you feel the Bass! ;)
Most of his great feelings comes from his ability to regulate all the other instruments on the song
Bass solos sound pretty cool too, just look up Orion by Metallica
That slap to pluck transition at 2:14 .... So damn smooth!
Tabs for me

r/woooosh
Zione r/woooosh
Downy Bleach r/lostredditors
Caleb Madison r/woooosh
Zione i think he meant he can't play anything
Me: I can play this song
Pop & Slap: **exists**
Me: No I cant
No, i bet you can play it
I can play slap and pop
Ghost notes exist
Never mind haha
Same :(
Got a decent slap but I cant pop to save my life.
@@theholychirch3924 why?
Ya made a mistake fam. At 3:27-3:30, the tab says to play 14 12 10 12 but instead he plays 12 10 8 10. It's all a lie guys. How can we trust this boi again. One of his most popular vids incorrect! I can't believe I was a fan!
Jk I don't really care. I thought it would be cool to point out. Plz put out more covers! Love ur work
wow, thanks for noticing
Nothing but respect for u fam keep it up!
Who gives a shit...just play
Psssst, I'm pretty sure she's a girl (Edit: Nvm, it's totally a guy lol)
Jack Cherry how can u tell lol (edit: nvm)
That triplet at 3:38 is insane! I usually just play a slap dead note instead of the second pop note because it's easier but damn it's still a hard move to pull off.
Hands down one of my favorite progressions.
Yeah it's easier to play
---------X----------
------------------10
---------------------
8 X---------X-----
100%! triplet on muted strings, using pull - three of bass tings i can't do lol
That shit blew my mind haha
the only crazy motherfucker who could actually pull it off on youtube
*Hot girl: "awesome... what can you play on your bass?*
*Me: "I can play the first 52 seconds of Can't Stop by Red Hot Chili Peppers.."*
And that's the story of how I got laid.....
Lord of Flying Monkeys how about that triplet at 3:38, if you you can do on ur bass you can do it on her too XD
This is fake, everyone knows bassists don’t get laid
@SavageChimp 1.
Ever heard of Scott Pilgrim, bro?
SavageChimp 1 if they’re hot players then yes
Hot girl: I can play other seconds after 52, let's play together
a few years ago in my old school some 11/12 year old kids played this, they had a little band and i always heard them practicing, they were awsome! they played this in assembly and everytime i hear this song it reminds me of them, i wonder if they're still a band🤔
I'm 12 years old too! I can play guitar, i've been playing for 2 years and i wish i can also join a band with kids with same age with me
Ok guys, I've got Feel Good Inc. I wanna give this a try next.
Not gonna lie, I felt really good about myself when I learned Feel Good Inc. But this makes me feel like I just picked the bass up
I recommend higher ground first to get slapping down and then go from there
Feel good inc was my first song too haha
@@2022241 I think it was every bassist's first.
Big step

Thank you so much. My sis plays the bass and I like RHCP but she doesn't so maybe I could convince her with this. Thanks man
LpsDisco did you try dark necessities?
Goodbye Angels and Californication are also great songs to try convince her to play
Okay, even if she doesn't like RHCP, flea's bass is fkn amazing, try convincing her by taking about flea
Grace Glassman show her "you oughtta know" by Alanis morisette. Girls like that. Flea played bass on it
i thik that evry bassist must love rhcp)
If you are with negativity, just hear this bass,at time you feel better
True
okay ronaldo
That's exactly what's happening... what's the science behind it?!?
the lostteddy happy brain molecules. Lock and key emotions
thats true only if you aren't trying to learn it lol
Imma learn bass if it kills me. Iv never played anything ever. Im following along the tabs, i dont know nothing. Im learning tho
Practice practice practice
This might not be the easiest place to start
That's what I'm doing. I learned Chop Suey and Californication in a couple days. Also learned Californication and Like a stone on guitar from this channel. Just keep practicing :D
This song kinda hard to play thouug
I really want to learn bass, Ive never played anything either. Well, I played saxophone in middle school but that hardly counts
¡Gracias!
Wow!
Sometimes you just have to hear the bass higher in the mix to appreciate how much thought goes into Flea's parts.
Great playing, by the way!
Flea is RHCP
After i hear all the "hidden" basslines in any Song, i Start to appreciate them waaaaay more, like, i love can't stop by RHCP, but after that video i love it 100 times more
The endurance it takes to slap for a song...well done as always.
i never felt strain slapping on bass
I'm absolutely loving the slap tone!
Sounds awesome!
The resemblance with You Keep Me Hanging On is amazing. Great cover
Your bass is perfection
Yes, they have a beautiful instrument
Can I get spicy chicken sandwich
#1 please
Thank you for your kind reply
These are the best bass tab videos on CZcams. What sets you apart is that the rhythm is notated which makes it sooooo much easier to learn the fast/difficult sections. Thanks!
Dude that muted pluck triplet (and the rest of the bar are amazing, still trying to get it down) during the guitar solo, i love it! Thanks dude!
Such a great resource for very well-done bass tabs.
I have never played an instrument but if i would start it would be the bass
+edgu71eg trust me it is so much fun.
+edgu71eg i started with regular gtr, i found that helped me a lot for my bass. also, that means you can say "yeah, i play both guitars".
+edgu71eg If I only had money ^^ lol
I highly recommend you start with regular guitar, electric or acoustic doesnt matter
I have started with the bass and I'm happy. Don't worry.
I "Can't stop" watching these videos
Xadeus Gast-Muzquiz the puns are real
Xadeus Gast-Muzquiz stfu
Xadeus Gast-Muzquiz lol
Me too !
Get out. This is a pun free zone. Although that was very good, so I'll let you slide
Such a catchy riff! Great job btw!
Nice cover dude as usual ! You are one of my references, all of your covers helped me a lot =)
Finally, a GREAT can't stop tab video!
Gonna have to try this one now! Never knew it had such catchy bass.
man ure the best on utube fr sure.. love ure playthroughs!
I love the bass in this song❤️❤️❤️
No matter what I do I can never do the mute slaps and pops, they just confuse me and I end up fucking it all up
Matthew Flood Check my slap lessons, they might help you ;)
Matthew Flood I find the mute slaps and pops very hard myself
CoverSolutions I have started following your lessons, and now I can just play it at a slower temp, thanks :)
Holy shit same
+CoverSolutions Update, I can now play this song perfectly.
Thanks so much ! You make me want to play again guitar and bass !! Continue like this you are awesome !! Cheerz from france !
Great stuff. I used this tabs in my cover but I made a few mistakes. I'm glad there's a channel such as this it's very helpful. Keep doing great job!
I'd love to here you play some parliament/funkadelic classics!! Dr Funkenstein, Funkentelechy ?
they inspired me and primus to play bass ahah
Dude, ur amazing. I play drums but now I want to learn bass because of you. I'm subscribing.
Same.
I also used to play drums and I'm learning to play bass. To get to Flea level will take quite a lot of practice though.
Angus Hsieh I play drums too!
Me too!
Guitarist here! Practicing bass on my acoustic....... Tougher tho :/
Really dig watching your covers. Sick man! You earned yourself a sub!
Love this bass cover great job 😆
Un grand merci de france!!! Ca aide plus que ce qu'on cherche ;) Encore merci !!! (Surtout que des covers bass y'en a pas beaucoup encore moins de cette qualitée.)
This is absolutely incredible.
3,2,1,GO!!nice platings!
Thanks for playing songs
The main thing I've noticed about your bass playing is how smooth you are on your transitions from chord to chord
6 years ago I saw this and thought I would never be able to play it and today I came back to it and finally got it
Muchas gracias, siempre había tocado esa canción de oído y de forma muy improvisada. Muy detallada y clara la tablatura y puff como lo clavas! Mil gracias por tu curro :D
want to thank you for all the work
learning so much from you
You are awesome man, very inspiring!
Desde Argentina🇦🇷 genio!!!!👏👏👏👏
Esse canal esta de parabéns é sucesso no Brasil também.
These riffs are amazing!
You are one of the best subscriptions that I could have ever done!
Before I learn a song on bass, I watch your cover of it because the bass is louder and it's so good.
I swear I can nail those repeating E's and the low E's like a pro.
Perfect for learning bass!!! You got yourself a new subscriber :)
I cant believe this! Thanks to you I now hear things about the song I never noticed before
You play great, keep it up
Eres Chileno jejeje eres Kapo
Ignacio Muñoz its to represent what type of note to play
This is an amazing cover of the song. Would you be willing to do Animal I have Become by Three Days Grace?
Thank you so much for doing all these videos and for giving all of us something to look at in order to learn.
Holy freakin crap this is amazing. Thank you so much! You're incredible!!!
Five years! And I still can't stop listening!
やばいかっこ良すぎて今夜なんだけど練習したくてたまらん
That chorus is beautiful ❤️
Really is
Your ability to play the bass guitar amazes me! Good luck and respect to you
That was some crazy bass playing 😮
PARABÉNS MANO ...TOCA MUITO
Can you do a top 30 of your favorite songs it's would be greatly appreciated thanks
I'll work this one ! Seems good for strength and endurance Thanks for the idea !
The slap and pop part is really satisfying, it makes me want to play bass
I find it really hard to get the rhythm right when I try playing all of the mute notes along with it :((( Issa struggle , i can’t even tell what the rhythm of some of the mute even are, even with the tab
Think of your bass as a drumset. Slaps are the kickdrum, pops are the snare. Then listen to the song. Then just slap everytime you hear a kick, and pop everytime you hear the snare drum. Get a feeling for the beat of the song. Then start adding the notes and embellishments, one by one. If you are new to slap, try "Higher Ground" by RHCP as a first song. It is definitely easier to figure out Flea's style with that song. But once you have his groove down, learning their other songs isn't that hard :)
MY FINGER IS SO PAINFUL
I GOT BLISTERS FROM PLAYING THIS FOR 30 MINUTES!!!
Only re-insert it after priming for joy.
Yep
Same 😂
Thank
You for
The Play
Along Tabs In Video
also please ramble on by led zeppelin
You should do a longview cover by Green Day that would be awesome
Already has
Son muy buenos tus tutoriales . Felicitaciones éxitos 😉👍
cover solutions dude is freaking awesome man.
This particular song makes me want to learn bass. Damn.
The Slap bass part is the first slap bass line I learned 😀
Me too bro, like year ago
The sound is awesome! Very neat.
Oh my god that tone is so good
I‘M FINALLY GOING TO BUY A BASS & I‘M SO EXCITED
Cheers mate. I just started playing this month
John Paul Escandor that‘s niceee
@@betienne4855 you bought one yeah?
John Paul Escandor yes, a fender vintera 60‘s mustang bass
I got my first bass 2 weeks ago :D I bought a Fender Squier P Bass for like 170€
Wondering forever why certain notes would always ring or just not sound right, until I started watching the fretting hand. My muting game is hella weak, but I'm working on it
Wow, you really can play--pick and all !! Luv it! I could never play like you.
Amazing bassline and Amazing play
0:52 don’t mind me this is a time stamp for the future
Limelight-Rush pleasee!!
Thanks for doing these. You're so talented. I struggle to get the palm mutes. Any tips?
i just bought a bass, im getting slightly tired of noob riffs of music we dont actually listen to... now i come to learn this song and it just seems insane, i know it's like a medium difficulty song and even if you can reach and play the notes, memorising their order to play them at speed is crazy. imagine those crazy pro bassists that can just hear a riff and play it. just let that sink in for a minute if you feel my struggle
When you first start playing or you find it difficult you can skip the ghost notes, just make sure not to lose your timing.
Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls
Metallica - Orion
So damn good mate ! On fire 🔥
unbeliavable bass player my friend just amazing guy
For the life of me I can't figure out the triplet at 3:38.
ghost note the first x with your thumb and pop the 2 bottom x's with first and second fingers. Practice it really slow haha
wondering why I did not try with two fingers that part... thanks
No worries dude!
There's only a little bit I can't get from around 0:53 to about 4:32
CoBeX31 flea does it differently, but here it’s still a triplet, and fits well.
But flea does it with a left hand slap as well as right.
play 'the lemon song' by led zeppelin!!!
M8n 5 ft ym ku😢😥😎
7
dude!!!! since now I'm your number one FAN!!! you're great and amazine playing bass and guitar!! Do u have FB or Instagram??
Nice. Your a master. I'm 42 when I was young I was a decent guitarist but picked up a bass to find that I was a natural bassist. Higher ground. Under the bridge, Backwoods. Taste the pain. Knock me down. John's first rocking entrance to the band. I miss his hard rock days. But I still love the band. I just got out of prison after surgerys led to opiate addiction. My 4 string fender. My 5 str Ibanez erg. And fender strat guitar. Tube bass and fender guitar lamps all gone my family sold and trashed my stuff waited for me to come home to tell me. That's all I had left.
Do seven nation army next please!
Here, just you know what...all of these:
"The Science of Selling Yourself Short" by Less Than Jake
"Take On Me" and "Beer" by Reel Big Fish
What a great cover and lesson. Thanks!
By the way, how and where did you get transcript of the musical source?
Did you play by ear to accurately arrived at the chords/notes/tabs? Or did
you purchase any music sheet like Hal Leonard with bass transcriptions?
Please, please, please do share.
Many thanks!
Чувак, ты бешеный! Я за тобой не успеваю! Красавчик! Уважаю!)))
At around 3:36 how does he do that triplet "slap-pop-pop"?
I think he used the middle finger too, but I'm not sure
He do like I do, you pick like u are playing standard.
try use a triple slap instead of slap pop pop.
I had to slow down the video to figure it out. The easiest way I found to do it is to place both your index and middle fingers underneath the G string at the same time and pull your whole hand out at an angle from your wrist.
You can use the technique called pizzicato to fade the sound. I use it and that works very well.
