How To Freeze Dry Broccoli AND Use It!

Learning how to freeze dry food items is the easy part! It is imperative that you learn HOW to use the products that you have stockpiled! We make sure to rotate the food we have stored to keep it as fresh as possible (this is also known as a "working stockpile"). SO this means that we are typically using some sort of freeze dried food every day in our meals. Make sure that you know how to use whatever type of food storage you decide to keep. In this recipe we use freeze dried and canned food from our stockpile.
Broccoli Cheddar Soup Recipe
1 stick butter
1 onion
3 ish cloves of garlic (freeze dried, dehydrated or fresh)
1/2 tsp paprika
2 tsp salt (see notes in video)
2 tsp black pepper
1/2 cup ap flour
1 quart chicken stock
2 carrots
8 oz brick sharp cheddar (feel free to use whatever cheese you like)
1/2 gallon jar of freeze dried broccoli
1 quart whole milk

So because of the high fat in this soup, it wouldn't be good for long-term storage. I'm sure it COULD be freeze dried and last for a bit, but eventually it will go rancid. That's why we personally like to freeze dry ingredients instead of full meals, unless we have a very specific need, like backpacking ext... Thank you for reaching out have a blessed day!

Question: what settings did you use to freeze dry your broccoli 🥦. I watch tons of freeze drying videos and no one ever goes over that. Even if it's just to say that's the settings for their unit size.
We have a med. unit just like yours could you please give that information🙏

We have not ever changed our settings from the factory settings. Our machine is pre candy setting but after the programming that had the buttons for pre frozen or not. So we literally just put it in and push start.

Oh also I think its important to note that I have never done an update and I don't intend to because of all of the issues that come with the updates.
