    Thank you Levi, another excellent presentation, which brings me relief through clear and concise information. The best bit was "this will not be like Sandy", phew! I live in Breezy Point, NY where we were slammed with Sandy. Thank you again!

    Living in the panhandle, i really do trust your wisdom on these storms vs some of the local meteorologist. Thank you so VERY much for educating and showing me what to look for!!! 2018 Michael was an eye opener (as well as the roof on my home, lol) for me. Thank you! Thank you!!!

    The extratropical transition will need to be watched. While the cold water will weaken the warm core aspects, baroclinicity could make things stronger away from the core of the storm like we saw with Sandy.

      Or the spike jet Arthur had in 2014.

    • @Tropical-Tidbits
      @Tropical-Tidbits  Před rokem +19

      So this is actually not a concern here because there is no strong upper trough that Lee is merging into. Sandy was a special case of perfect baroclinic dynamics causing it to remain very strong during extra tropical transition. Lee will weaken steadily on its way toward land, but will still be impactful, just not on the scale of Sandy.

    • @hgbugalou
      @hgbugalou Před rokem +1

      @@Tropical-Tidbits Yeah the trof will be gone by the time Lee gets there. I was in AC, NJ for Sandy and it was such an odd with the warm core seclusion and ET transition. At this point it shouldn't be the same with Lee.

    Merci Levi. I watched a Maine station reporting on Lee, and they're worried since they've had a wet summer, the ground is already saturated.
    We're now in the Moronocene.

    • @elenapiekut
      @elenapiekut Před rokem +2

      It has rained heavily in Maine in the past couple days, and will rain more before this storm, and yes it rained most of the summer as well. Maine has large rivers (large watersheds) that are managed by many dams large and small. The dams can only release/keep up with so much water in advance of a tropical storm. Flooding is an issue in "normal" rains, and much of coastal Maine has little soil on top of bedrock to begin with. Having saturated ground, plus leaves on the trees, mean it is much easier for trees to blow down (Maine is the most forested state in the US). I can imagine the weatherman said it in a way that sounded silly, but this is a valid concern.

    I know that major hurricanes are possible in El Nino years like Andrew from 1992 but that year was a still below average in overall activity.2023 is also an El Nino and this season is well above average in using ecery metric possible,So please is the El Nino dead or something?

      it is not dead
      but atlantic is warmer
      and anyway gulf and caribean sea look calm, normally we have like 1 or 2 more hurricane inside gulf and caribean sea
      so currently it is cap verdes keep up to manufacture tropical storm

      @@k.c1126then in a week from now " unexpected outcome hurricane Lee approaching Florida" it can still happen dude it's that all weather channels are "expecting" that turn north but if it strengthens it can very much go west , you do not know

      what i read jet stream push lee to north
      and since 2 or 3 days lee slow down and look stationary, so it mean it will go to another direction

    • @k.c1126
      @k.c1126 Před rokem

      @@androtoM been there, done that... if Lee was going to hit Florida, we'd have seen it in the possibilities since last week. The reality is that being able to view the larger weather patterns from space makes it possible to have more confidence in forecasts like this. At most, as Levi has constantly shown, Lee could hook left into New England.
      It's not coming back to Florida.
