Whenever a game catches my interest, my first thought is always "I hope Rodney does a How to Play video for this game!". Nobody does it better. I have this one preordered at my FLGS; really looking forward to it!
Thanks for the kind comment Gurn! Have a great time playing :)
Same!
Same here, had to watch three different paleo videos today...i bet one made by Rodney would have been enough.
Newbie here....what is FLGS?
@@MFox-ms3jgFLGS is "Friendly Local Game Store" 🙂
I love the way Rodney always matches his shirt to the game box! Another great video. Thank you 😊
Glad you enjoyed it Sarah!
You're a gem, Rodney. Thanks for doing such a great job teaching us new games!
So glad you enjoyed!
What a fun looking game. The right mix of strategy and luck. And who doesn’t like a dungeon ‘crawl?” Nice video Rodney!!
Thanks Frank - appreciate you checking it out!
My gosh, why are you so good at teaching games? It's ridiculous how much better your videos are compared to anyone else's how to play videos. It's getting to the point if you don't have a video for a game I don't hardly want to play it. So basically I say that to say, great gob!
Thanks for the kind words Nick - glad you've been enjoying!
Bought this game for my wife a few months back and just now getting around to playing it. Great breakdown and explanation of the game. Thank you for it! Excited to play it!!
I hope you have fun!
Watch for the box flip. Stay for the great how to play!!
Thanks G!
Thank you, Rodney! Watching your tutorials is like a must-do ritual at home after dinner and before playing. You're the best!
Thank you kindly - happy gaming!
Seems like a lot of fun. I need to know how to play and now I do! Thank you!
Have a great time playing!
Great video! Had the chance to see one of your playthrough on Twitch with Paula and Matthew and I felt convinced to get a copy myself.
Glad you enjoyed that play through!
Rod, that box flip and seal at the end was smooooth
This game looks delightful. Thanks for the video!
You're very welcome - thanks for checking it out!
Tempted by this at my FLGS, as a little light game. Actually looks loads of fun! So, thank you again Rodney. 🤘 Xx
If you get a chance to play, I hope you enjoy!
fantastic explanation - thanks!
You're very welcome!
Looks amazing, will have an eye on it in the next board game shop 😃
Glad you enjoyed it!
Top marks for walking through that. I started reading the rules and got a bit confused but you've made it look fun and easy
Very glad this was helpful :)
Great video! Looks like a cool roll and write.
Thanks for checking it out Henri!
Great video! Seems like an interesting game. Kind of gives me Clank! vibes, even though it's a completely different kind of game.
Certainly has that race aspect to it!
great video, and looks like a great game!
Thanks Jenders!
I LOVE THIS GAME!
You sure do :) We've been playing it a bunch here too!
This game looks fun. :)
Will add it to my roll and write collection :)
Have a great time playing!
That was very helpful!
Thanks!
Just got this game yesterday and it's super fun! Though I do have a note on 15:17 - it says in the German rules that a player gets 1 Gem per 3 damage to the boss; which equates to 3 points per 3 damage. So the English rulebook has that kind of going for it. :)
Pardon my nitpick, so which is correct: 3pts per 3 dmg (a set of 3 individual boxes) to the boss like in the English 1st Ed rule book OR 1pt per 3 dmg to the boss as in this video?
I bought this after seeing YOUR video. I had wondered if it's easier or more difficult than Paper Dungeons. I love PD BUT it's a little difficult to me, keeping up with everything. I didn't have anyone to learn with or teach me. I like the fact that sometimes less is more and this is a game easy to take a page and dice and play anywhere...doesn't take much table space
Very glad to know this one suited your tastes!
always fun and positive videos
Thanks Lawrence!
Really helpful! We just played our first game and werent sure exactly how the game ends.
Hope this helped with that question!
@@WatchItPlayedYep! Cheers! Definitely enjoying your work. So clear and precise. Best way to get a feel for a game.
Your box spins are legendary.
Whenever I see the word "Dungeon" in the title I'm always intrigued!
Me too - always up for some dungeon delving.
Thanks Rodney, great video as always. Curious if there's any info available on when this game will be released?
I believe there has been some shipping delays, so we'll have to keep an eye out!
I came back to this video cause I got the game, and the rulebook does say when 1 player has defeated all their monsters the game ends. I'm like that would take a long time, or you would be defeated cause you weren't getting the right rolls. So collectively makes a lot more sense.
Yes, I was glad that we could clarify that error - certainly changes things!
Very helpful review. Just received the game! The rule book was confusing.
Glad I could help clarify a few things!
Thanks for clarifying some of the rules. 👍🏻 Some things weren't clear in the instructions.
I'm glad it was helpful - I worked with the publisher to try to clarify some things I thought could help other players.
It looks cool.
Thanks for checking it out!
Pretty good game, when you understand that you have to kill the monsters slowly, everythings goes better 🤗 Thanks for sharing. ⚔️
My pleasure!
Rodney rocks!
Nicely done how-to, dear sir! 😺 And that trick with box cover in the end was magnificent! How long you've trained? :)
I can't understand if my Rulebook is 1st edition or newer (I think it's Version > 1, but not sure).
So, I have several unclear to me points though (even after reading the rules and watching your video), so, please, explain to me following:
1. Rules say "Unless a Passive player chooses to play a Black Dice ability, the Active player alone may choose to use the rolled Black die as a part of a pair."
I thought that if a Passive player chooses to use Black Dice ability, no one else except him alone can use Black Dice this round. Am I wrong?
2. Can player cross out boxes in both Start spaces? I thought that player should go from only one Start spaces.
3. I didn't see in rules any notion that when players use Monster's room numbers, they must cross only 1 box, so I supposed that they must cross as many boxes as the sum of dice pair they use. Or it's incorrect understanding?
4. I can conclude from your words that only first player who killed the Boss, gain 6 Gems reward, and others don't. But I didn't see this in rules ("The first player to defeat a Monster with "Heart" symbols loses a corresponding number of Life points and records it on the Life tracker. Any other player defeating the Monster in the same round loses the same number Life points. Players defeating the monster in subsequent rounds do not lose Life points. As a reminder, cross out the Monster's Life point symbols when it is first defeated"). So I assume that all players that kill that Monster in the following rounds don't lose their Health, but still get a FULL reward. Am I right?
5. You said that if player kills a monster by using "Fist" space, it's not allowed to go beyond that monster's space if player didn't reach it from any side, but I didn't see this restriction in rules. Whom should I trust? :)
6. Regarding Game End - is this official rule that game is over when all monsters in the dungeon were defeated at least once by any player?
To save me some time, let me summarize it this way: the video is correct. I work directly with the publisher, but when I'm working on the video, I sometimes find things in the rules that are incorrect, or unclear. I take those questions to the publisher and get them clarified, so then the video ends up with information you won't always find in the rules. I also have the publisher watch and check the video over before it goes live. This is not to say that a mistake can't still slip by, but you can safely assume that what you're seeing in my video is correct. Hope that helps!
Do you know if you can use a torch to mark off a roll doubles fist space? I would assume so but wasn’t clear in the rules.
Sorry, I'm travelling right now and not near my copy of the game to be able to double check this for you.
Hi Rodney, great video as always. Your content is so useful, you provide such a good service. Could you please clear up a rule query? Your video says it’s 1 VP per 3 damage to an undefeated boss. However, this has caused some confusion for me and also over on the BGG forums where people suggest it’s 1 gem (equal to 3 VP) instead. One gem rather than one point would tally up better with how the scoresheet is laid out. Are you able to confirm this either way please?
Hi Simon, the video was checked over by the publisher before it went out, so I'm as confident as I can be - sometimes errors can still creep in (especially if there are translation errors), but I'm not aware of any related to this at this point.
Thanks for such a quick and helpful reply 😊 If you say it’s one VP for three damage on the boss rather than three VP then we’ll go with that. My wife will be especially happy as it’s the difference between her winning and losing our first game earlier!
In the German instructions you get 1 gem per 3 strikes, so I’ve been using that
I have a question! Are you able to use two pairs of dice to attack the same monster on the same turn?
Sure can!
Looks good. Where can I get it?
I believe it's held up in shipping right now - so hopefully we 'll know more soon!
Amazon
Nice review! Thanks for that.
There is just one part I dont understand.
Do I make strikes against a monster instead of cossing a room? Or is it additionaly? I guess it is instead?!
And when I can use a number for wound a Monster but can not use this Number for crossing a room: I lost life-points?
If it helps, think of the spaces with a monster in them as rooms as well. So when you cross off a monster space, you are also "crossing off a room". In other words, as long as you're crossing something off with the die value, it won't cause you damage. Make sense?
Make sense! Thanks a lot! 😘
Thanks for the teach Rodney, but I was wondering about regular spaces. The rulebook says "Players may only visit Regular spaces adjacent to an already visited space or any Start space." I'm interpreting as this saying that the Start space doesn't have to be visited if you want to mark off a Regular space adjacent to it. Am I interpreting this wrong or is this a case of another mistranslation? Any help is appreciated!
Hey Jose, the way I describe it in the video is correct (there were some translation issues in this rule book unfortunately, but the video has i right).
I guess I'm inviting my friends over for a DD&D session?
Ha! You could say that!
You just keep costing me money. Thanks..
I hope you have a great time playing :)
@ 4:20 you sure you can connect the 3 and the 5? can't find anything about the doors in the rulebook
I am sure. I had to ask about this when working on the tutorial. Basically, there SHOULD be a space showing there, but it was missed in the artwork.
@@WatchItPlayed thank you very much!
I would really like a link to where to buy these games, even if it is to the game maker's website.
It really changes so much, depending on where you live in the world.
Question: If all other players die, do I still have to kill the remaining animals to win or do I win automatically?
Thanks for your patience Rosy, I had to wait on a response from the publisher as this isn't covered in the rules. If you are the last player standing, you will win immediately!
How new is this? I can't find it on Amazon
Very new - shipping held it up a little. Should be here soon.
Curse you Rodney now another roll and write I need to get.
Oops!
Can you shed some light on the killing of monster in multiplayer. If one in the group defeats the monster do the other players have to continue to kill them to 1)obtain the gem unlock left and 2) to pass through the room?
It's been a little while since I shot this, but the video should indicate how killing a monster affects other players (or doesn't - if it doesn't say something changes for other players, than it doesn't).
you know? i was thinking in this particular game and say: "hmmm does someone make a video on how to play it". you are too fast rodney. saludos from Argentina
Greetings back from Canada!
Your first step on the Annoyes animals map is incorrect. The 5 space cannot connect to the 3 start space, because there is no door. The 3 start space only connects to the 12, 7, and 6.
Hi Matthew, I address this in the video itself, please watch again here: czcams.com/video/vUlsnAKvfCk/video.html
The lack of a door in this image was a mistake by the artist (this is something I double checked with the publisher) - hope that helps!
So Rodney starts first, cause he defeated a Lava Bear in the last few weeks?
Good point!
Do you happen to know if I can use the torches for the dinosaurs with the shield (the defiant dinosaurs map).
We just said it's okay as long as you mark 2 hit's at once.
Anyways this game is amazing and we are very addicted to it at the moment
Hey bone, I'm not sure of the rules for that map - sorry!
What a great explanation!!!! I am now ready to kill some monsters!!!!! Thx
Have a great time playing!
Where. Did you get. A perfectly-sized hard surface??
I custom cut it from foam core :)
Sorry to get off topic, but you find/have THE BEST SHIRTS all the time. Where did you get this one and where do you normally shop? And yes I am serious.
Don't recall with this one, but probably Old Navy.
Can you win even if you die, as long as the -20 penalty doesn't keep you from having the most points?
Once you die, you're out of the game.
@@WatchItPlayed is there a reason the skull has -20 then? It shouldn't matter if you get -20 if your points don't count anymore
@@xzanathar That's a great question, but it's more of a question for the designer. I'm not sure why they made it work that way.
@@xzanathar The -20 points is there for the solo mode I believe
I believe that you just die if you cross the -20 box, meaning that if the last box you crossed was the previous one, you didn’t die but when scoring you’ll subtract the 20 points
But rulebook says that game ends when any player defeats it’s last monster (not collectively) 🤷♀️
The rulebook has some errors, what you see in the video is correct.
