Pleased that Italy is alive and looking to win some matches here. Really hope they shock some teams this year.
I don’t think Italy winning will be as big a shock any more. They could have won there had it not been for their indiscipline in some areas.
Exactly, they are really improving... And they have heart for days!!!!!
@@anthonylennon8331 ya but they are actually starting to get how to play good rugby. They need discipline which as we saw here can win or lose games and consistency. They need to be consistenly play at this level of rugby and be disciplined. Next couple of years will be interesting
Uncertainty is the motherlode of pleasure. Georgia, Argentina, Italy and the Polynesian nations standing up to the giants provides the hope on which great deeds are done.
Objectively speaking (that's hard cause I'm French, you know :)), the match wasn't and shouldn't have been nearly as close. With a different referee, we're looking at a 20-30 points margin for France here.
Truly now a '6 nations' competition. Every team is bursting with talent!
It could even be a 7 nations, Georgia plays really well too I would love to see them in a competition like that..
Did the Italians finally realise the Georgians were after their spot?😋
Except Wales haha
@Art I'd still say their is hope for the Welsh. Certainly, their 1st half against Ireland was poor, but good performance in the 2nd. The scoreline didn't reflect how tight the 2nd half was.
As a New Zealander, I am LOVING this Northern Hemisphere rugby from all teams recently. Bring on the World Cup!
Meanwhile, we’re (Wales) the only 6N side going backwards! This year is the first time I’ve ever been fearful of an Italian side, I can honestly see a wooden spoon and WC group stage exit if we don’t get our shit together and fast
As an Irishman...can't wait ....
@@ryansmith5359 well first our selection must be better. This should be the team 1. Carre 2. Bradely roberts. 3. Francis/brown. 4 beard. 5. Dafydd jenkings. 6. Christ tshiunza. 7. Jac morgan. 8. Falatau. 9. Keiran hardy. 10. Owen williams. 11. Josh Adams. 12. Mason grady. 13. George North. 14. Rio dier. 15. Liam williams. That team should outmuscle scotland and there is about 7 changes there but gats will stick with dad's army lol
Bring on Super Rugby so we can see what you Antipodeans will bring to the RWC.
@@cotswoldcuckoo hell yea super rugby is the hardest and best rugby comp on the planet. The playing level and talent is absolutely immense
As an italian, well played to our french cousins, wish you the best for the rest of the tournament.
Hope to see another cracking game at the World Cup!
Lmao french cousins? Sorry but we are your superiors not cousins 😂😂😂
@@YallNotWhite_YourPINK I don't feel any rivalry in rugby to be honest, french fans have always supported us in bad times when we were not competitive enough and i respect that.
@@YallNotWhite_YourPINK No wonder why people think French people are d*cks with a comment like that... I'm French myself and proud of Italy getting better and better!
@@epsilonbeta4877 I wouldn't take any notice. I bet he isn't even French and is just trolling.
@@YallNotWhite_YourPINK you beat them by 5 points in a game Italy should really have won. Ireland are going to beat you by 30 at that rate
Italy is getting a better and better every match...Forza Azzurri from Georgia😍
From New Zealand. I love to watch France play rugby, ever since, Skrela, Rives, Fourou, Bastiat.........wonderful flare and interminable graft. Bravo Mesieurs, Bravo!!!!
Italy coach is from NZ, from a french
Unfortunately, they played poorly yesterday. I am French, but I definitely not going to say bravo to them. They gave away too many penalties to the Italian, even though the impartiality of the english referee was extremely questionable (as most of the time when France is playing). I seriously hope they'll fix that for the next match, otherwise, we'll be doomed
Italy is on a rise, can't wait to see them at the Rugby World Cup.
Thanks mate, our pool is quite hard… France and All blacks. We will fight sure fact…
Too early this WC and too tough our pool
Truly hope this six Nations (both main and under 20) proves once and for all that Italy deserves to be and stay where it is. Heck, even Benetton Treviso showing signs of improvement in the Challenge Cup and URC. 🇮🇹👏🏻💪🏻
I think it just needs Georgia to come into it to make it 7 teams and it gives some other European team also a chance to make it eight nations.
@@caintindal1671 that would be 49 matches instead of 36, it already lasts too long with all the rest weeks how much longer do you want it to last?
@@Bolognabeef why not each team only play each other once it is like mine in the South about bringing Fiji and Japan into it is a great idea and playing each other once. If you want grow rugby you must be willing to change.
From a south african. Feel very excited about Italian rugby.
There are no more easy games in the six nations, which makes it more exciting to watch. Well played both teams, especially 🇮🇹. 👏
What I find most impressive this time round from Italy is that they played until the end. It would have been easy to bleed points in the last 15 minutes after France regained the lead but they didn't concede any further points, a huge improvement from games past. Italy is no longer a '60 minute team' like they were labelled in the past.
exactly, the progression is obvious !
Irish man here 🇮🇪 always wish the best for Italy as they are unlucky, but when France turn it on . Wow
But they never turned it on italy were looking better
@@mrhairyhobbit9999 nah, there was definitely hints of it throughout the game, like the cross field kick try and the BP try, discipline was a key issue for them this game, 14 penalties or something like that conceded, if they play like that in Dublin next week they will have a rough time.
@@paulbennet5496 18....
@@paulbennet5496 18 penalties, yellow card and penalty try... at some point France just stopped trying to steal balls in rucks (which is usually one of its main strengths) cause each time they did, they were sanctioned. One can question this referee's impartiality.
Shaun Edwards will fix it with a baseball bat, I wouldnt expect the same from the french team twice….
From a All Black fan, i commend the Italians for playing with such heart and passion. Great effort. France is very lucky on this occasion, but france made it count in the critical moments.
Italy was near victory, nearer than the All Blacks last time they played in Paris. Only teasing you. Love and respect for both Italy and New Zealand, and all rugby teams, male and female throughout the world. 2022 has been amazing for worldwide rugby, and 2023 is starting well.
Wtf France play against 16 players
@@law4933 typical frog 🐸 not as good as u thought you were gunna be. Its irelands this year mate
as another ab fan, im actually pretty frightened to play italy rn. because the abs are not closing these tight ones out., possible WC shock pool stage exit coming for the all blacks ?
@@benvaughan3392 typical Anglo Saxon asshole. The referee was the 16th man for Italy. And it will be the same in Ireland. Keep eating your curry and becoming a paki colony.
I've been watching Five Nations/Six Nations Rugby since I was a child many years ago now as my dad played as a scrumhalf in Scotland...I played a bit as a scrumhalf here in Ireland. For the last decade or so I was one of the people calling for Italy to be kicked out of the Six Nations as I felt they added nothing at all to the competition other than a practice game for the other 5 teams. I'm so happy to have been proven wrong. It took a long time to get there but massive respect must be given to Italian Rugby for what they've achieved in recent times. In a RWC year this was always going to be a huge Six Nations but Italy have for the first time made it a true competition between all the 6 countries and that's wonderful. Be very proud of what you're doing. I think it's fair to say that World Rugby is with you and supports and admires the effort you're making. I know you lost to France today but hold your heads high and take pride in this Italian side who deserve to be applauded by all rugby playing countries. Much love to you from Ireland.💚
Let's get rid of the welsh then, except nobody would ever say that if they didn't win a game for 20 years.
@@ConCon75 Pretty silly comment in truth. Wales have been a part of the tournament along with the other 3 "Home Nations" since the 1880's and have - according to Wikipedia, played in 127 tournaments, winning numerous Home Nations, Five Nations, Six Nations and Grand Slams - more than almost all of the other countries in fact, and historically are one of the proudest rugby playing nations in the Northern Hemisphere. This is Italy's 23rd tournament and they've won 11 games. End of story. Enjoy the rest of this year's tournament though.🙏
It was like removing the sun wolves (japan) from super rugby , they lost most of their games but look at what it did for their rugby last world cup . Argentina was the same in rugby championship now it is hell travelling to Buenos Aires.
Great to see Italy playing so well leading up to the RWC! 👏
Big up for Italian rugby! Great progression!
Stay motivated!
Love the Italian kit..very smart👍🏴
As a Bok fan I am so happy to see Italy doing well. These two are in the same world cup group - watch this space - it seems France already peaked over the past 18 months!
As a proud Wallabies supporter that was supporting France in this match, it was a Great Game of Rugby to watch.
6 Nations looking very competitive. France rusty but winning, dangerous.
Even tho France was undefeated last year they were very close to losing like this in a number of games. Yes they are proving they can win the close games which is an art inself. But on the other hand they haven't actually looked consistently in top form for the last few months. The danger when you are consistently winning close games, getting out of jail, is that there comes a time, especially in a big match, that you unravel.
A year ago I thought France were heavy favourites for the RWC. I think they are not looking quite as polished recently though. Of course this is just the first game of the 6N so better to judge at the final round. But I think their fans will be hoping for some more consistently better performances.
Great to see Italian rugby translating well from the U20 to the senior national team despite almost claiming another scalp from the visitors.
Well played Italy 🇮🇹 awesome game.
6 nations is the best and toughest competition to win, all the teams are capable of beating each other.
Italy was so close. I really hope they win some games this year.
Allan not finding the 5 meters on that last play was quite enraging. Italy is very very close to be quite good
It's better to secure the ball than do a Billy burns
What a game for Italy! So glad to see this huge improvements although for anyone watching youth rugby this was expected... Italy did quite well in the u20 6 nations for years and here the results as the boys are finally men!
France try 3 kick was perfect 🤯
Yes that'll be a work on for Crowley and Italy - defense on fringes. But I guess that's pressure for you.
this is VERY good for RugbyUnion ~ Italy has come of age, in brilliant fashion 👊⁉️🔥
Thanks for posting
What an opening this has been. We are in for a great tournament people
I became a Italy fan when they gave us and Australia a hiding, nice to see Italy going hard
Loving the play from both countries.
Looking forward to the rest of the six nations, watching from Australia!
I remember when Italy first started playing in this tournament and were a bit of a joke. In recent years…a force to be reckoned with
I wouldn't go that far but they're getting there for sure.
A force is a stretch. They are been competitive for sure. Need more talent like Capuzzo and Garbisi
Playing against Italy is getting to a stage where beating them is no longer a forgone conclusion. They're close to beating one of the tournament favourites.
@@zeroconnection Well they have actually beaten everyone in the 6N except England. Can they break that hoodoo next week?
@@seannieb8501 If you have been tracking the age grade U20 rugby the last few years (well before covid and last year), you'll see their U20 team has been getting stronger and stronger and getting good results at that level, so now and next few years will start to see those guys coming through. Even though they were struggling at senior level, there has obviously been a lot of hard work being done in the past decade behind the scenes to build a foundation for a stronger senior team in the future. I think we are just starting to see the fruit of that labour.
Even though they lost, Italy is looking a lot better than they did in the last 6 nations
A couple of unfortunate errors by Varney (including that charge-down) and let's face it France would have lost this game.
The fact that the French player was super stoked after the last try makes me feel proud of how ITaly played: France had to fight until the last minute and we didn't let them keep stomping us like previous years.
So good to see italy playing so well, finally!
Forza Italia 🇮🇹 ❤
Saffa 🇿🇦 here, always nice to see Italy doing well, this year's Six Nations is gonna be epic
Italy is a very legit threat now to any team in the world if they show up. This could be a very tight six nations
Great match! Italia ist better every year
The biggest mistake Italy did was made by Varney, otherwise Italy played a perfect game. Some situations could be managed better. If Italy plays like that for all the tournament, all the other teams will suffer a lot.
What a weekend of Rugby. And there's still plenty to come.
BRAVI RAGAZZI C'È MANCATO UN PELO.COMPLIMENTI ITALIA.💪🏉🇮🇹👏
Great to see such a large attendance
As a springbok, I continue to admire the French style of play. Such a difference in ideology. The next world cup is already looking to be one of the most unpredictable tournaments yet. I love it!
Una Italia in partita fino alla fine ..due mete subite per imprecisione e disattenzione ma sempre con la voglia di mettere pressione all'avversario ..fa ben sperare per le prossime partite .bravi ragazzi 💪
As a New Zealander the 6 nations has become so much more exciting than the Rugby Championship because of how competitive it is.... but boy I do like that Capuzzo (sorry for spelling) I predict he will be a future IRB player of the year in the next 3 years.
Italy is no longer a pushover...great to see.
Go Italy!!!!. Delighted they are playing so well
Italy really playing well for the full 80,,,
No.
They were guttering first 10.
They were lucky to be still alive after.
Think u never played rugby 🏉 or Watch the game. Otherwise u won't be making such no sense comments.
Italy have certainly improved hopefully they can keep it going
that was great! Italy starting to look pretty decent!
I have two things to say:
first: good game from Italy
second: france
Italians are improving big time.
All credit to Italy. They really gave the French a run for their money. Italian rugby has finally stepped up its game and is now truly competitive.
Crossfield kick from Ntamack was just 🥵
It's always heartbreaking to see Italy get so close to winning a game like this only to lose it at the end.
Italy really start to play nice rugby, nice to see more countries in top of this wonderful sport
Congrat to Italy. France haven’t played their best rugby. One more time, some terrible ref decisions nearly cost France the victory. Needed some self control.
Großer Respekt an Italien!!!
Thank you!
Well done Italy,so close .a few silly(but easily fixable ) errors early on cost Italy
Crowley doing a good Job with the Italians they should be happy how close to a win with a french team that is favourites to win RWC.
thoughts on the decision at the end? the Italians presented the ball back pretty quickly and possibly hints at a French collapse?
Glad to see Italy are no longer pushovers 👏👏👏
Italy are improving and what is good to see no team will be taken them as easy team to beat.
Great to know Italy still going and gonna focus on match winning
Cheers italy really great effort.
If monty ioane was playing in the italian squad ,I don't think france would have won the game.
What a shocking kick to corner by Italy in the end gave them no chance
Well done Italy..
Congratulations France..
The very creative interpretation of the rules by the referee who decided that competing for the ball in rucks was essentially now forbidden changed the game dynamic deprieving the French team from one of their main asset. France winning against a good Italian team despite 18 or 19 penalties a yellow card and 1 penalty try. Italy has to be rewarded for playing all balls including from its own 22 m but the referee creativity to interpret the rules was the main factor to offer us such a tight game.
Really good to see Italy getting so much better and passing the wooden spoon onto Wales.
Italy coming on well.
Go on Italy! You can do it.
This ref is a stain on rugby's philosophy
Yeah, how dare he refereeing fair and square, without any advantages for the big teams?
too much mistakes IMO but proud of the azzurri
Italy ate beginning to pick up again. Love it.
C'è l'avevamo quasi fatta!
Well played underdogs. North vs South, the game provides.
Relax, relax ! One year ago, many people wanted to see Italy out of 6N.
They improved, that's great for the sport, we'll see how they evolve in a year.
Good game ITALY
Italy 🔥
Open the door to the Six Nations, allowing a play-off between the winner of Europe Rugby and the underdog of the Six Nations. Then you will see how Italy will increase the quality of the game.
from 5+1 nations to a real 6 nations.
No easy games in the 6 nations, respect to Italy for improving year after year.
Italy!!! Looking seriously GOOD - Rugby wins!
Lla vs FRA paying are hand made the first half of paying good great game
Jsuis choqué des italiens comment ils sont bon ! Bravo les gars
excellent result for Italy
Rivincita al mondiale!!
Brave italiens who are progressing a lot and that’s good for the rugby vs Indisciplined French…that said, what about the disgraceful and somehow scandalous referring of Carley.
18 penalties…! As soon as a blue thumb was protruding from the ruck, he was whistling…did he have instructions to give the game to Italy or what? Galthié noticed that and at half time told Les Bleus to stop contesting the rucks…Southern Hemisphere team would have screamed this morning, rightly so…this ref. s shame for the rugby…
It was a good refereeing, for once, fair towards both, of course the bigs prefer favours from referees, so they win
Hell yes
Shameless action from the ref at 60:00. Where on Earth has he seen an advantage for Italy? None of les bleus are off side, even in slo-mo replay there is clearly not a single French player beyond the advantage line and the Italian scrum half who kicked that ball. Worst even, Dumortier made a superb reception catch in the air and was already counter attacking when the ref blew his whistle for a very late imaginary "advantage". Les bleus are playing at 14 at this point in the game, the score is 21-22 to France. There was no point for this. This action was ridiculous and to make matter even worst the touch line referee is literally right in front of the action all of this time and NEVER raise his flag once and that's because there is clearly NO ADVANTAGE TO ITALY. What was he thinking? This action could have changed the whole game and tournament. Not mentioning Ethan Dumortier (current top try scorer in the Top 14) absolutely thrives under these high ball situations for whoever saw him play for Lyon, he was robbed of a superb action and so were the spectators. NO MORE BS CALL LIKE THIS PLEASE, WE WANT PROFESSIONAL REFEREES AT THIS LEVEL. France made many mistakes I am not denying but that ref was a disgrace and it only got more obvious in the last twenty. I know everyone would like to see Italy doing well, but leave it to the Italians who have proved to be capable please.
Well done France
This is a very good match for the French team, because at the end they managed the pressure and kept defending, coming back from losing the match. It is the best way to start, because we were about to lose to a superb Italian team. Now it is time for adjustment and preparation for the Irish. Learn from all the mistakes. We need to do better!!! Allez les bleus!!!
Are you serious? That was a horrible match for France ! They were so close to be beaten and gave away so many penalties! Even though the ref was biased on some actions, it doesn't excuse them to be that undisciplined
@@ytevysbhtb read again, I said we almost lost and I said they need to do better. It is good because it shows lot of problems that need to be adjusted NOW before we get our ass handed over by the Irish, however, we still won the match to a very impressive Italian team.
@@miguelsotillo2637 effectivement.
@@ytevysbhtb The referee was good
I think frustratingly, barring those first two tries (first was very poor judgement, second was a controversial decision given both players were up in the air) the Italians were the better side
First try reminded me of retallick
faltó poco Italia..... ojalá la proxima sea la vencida, suerte.
what was wrong with that last maul? Why did the ref blow the whistle?
