- Carinya Sharples is a Freelance Journalist of Guyanese heritage
who grew up in South London, England. She produces radio
pieces for BBC World Service, lectured at the University of
Guyana and delivers workshops in schools for aspiring journalists.
At the time this interview took place, Carinya had just returned
to London as she was returning to academia - as a student -
at Goldsmiths University in London. I wanted to interview her
about her experiences of living in Guyana from the angle of
someone of Guyanese parentage...
Profiling people of the Caribbean and those of Caribbean heritage.

Very well spoken and intelligent, great interview. You learned a lot in just 3 years more than some Guyanese who lived there all their life. 🇬🇾🇨🇦
Big up Guyana one of the nicest countries in the Caribbean 🇬🇾🔥🔥🔥🔥
This interview was very valuable to me being british-guyanese and finally pulling the trigger to go over there to live as a digital nomad for a while.
I am proud of my country Guyana. I am of three races and am a proud guyanese. My lovely land of my birth!
It's bring back lot good memories good times were is all of that gone we all miss the old days. good or bad poor or rich .
So your the one taking that beautiful shots of our culture, your awesome 🇨🇦
Caringya Sharples, great to listen to your experiences and contributions in Guyana. Hope you can go back there and have greater experiences to share with Guyana and the world . I am happy you are proud of your roots in Guyana. I agree that Guyana and The Caribbean should be in school curriculum in England because the people in England can learn about their colonised English roots and the common wealth history..To the interviewer , don't be afraid to go there. I don't know if you have friends or relatives there but follow your heart . You sound British ,yourself but go and explore. There are lovely ,,friendly ,hospitable people in GUYABA.
Guyana always Bring. Back sweat memoroes where wé. grew up
Well, I left 51 years ago, I have never been back, growing up, our family kept to ourselves, so don't partake in any cultural events, however, I enjoy watching the videos .
