- Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby announce that my previous video about Pearl Jam's Rearviewmirror was not nearly as correct as it could have been! Hence, I submit for your learning pleasure this redo of beloved RVM. Having so voraciously tackled so many Pearl Jam tunes so early in my CZcams career, I'm not surprised to be finding out some things I was wrong about as my earballs hone their detecting skills, and I present this video with neither shame nor embarrassment, but only a thirst to get to the bottom of things!
If you love Pearl Jam and golf, you'll love hearing me talk about those two things on this podcast! golforiginstories.buzzsprout....

Thank you for teaching me one of my all time favourite PJ songs! Loved this since the moment I played my Rearviewmirror greatest hits cd
1:14 that's exactly how I picked up on learning how to play this song. Start off slowly then progressed. Love playing this on guitar!
cheers Lester :)
Such a fun song to play and thanks for breaking it down so clearly! Maybe a deep dive into Mike’s parts??? Thanks for the great lesson as always, Ryan!
definitely a deep dive into mike's parts.
This is my first favourite pj song! I've had lots of others since but this will always be my first, and now I can play it!
Thanks so much for doing all the hard work for us and making this so much fun.
woo hoo congrats AA and you're very welcome!
Legend! This is one of my all time PJ faves and now I’ll be able to play it ALL the way through 🤟🎸🙌
yay!
The Pearl Jam lessons are baaack!! Thanks for the video Ryan!!
cheers JROM!
One of my favorites
yay
Hooray! Thanks for breaking it all down! I had to adapt a few notes to my 3 string cigar box guitar but it gets it done! Man, that's fun to play!!
that's awesome HGG :)
A musical genius Mr. RL. This was great fun - Looking forward to more!
I KNOW THIS GUY
One of my top 3 PJ songs. Great work Ryan once again
my pleasure JPC, cheers
Thanks your lessons are the best!!
thanks bro!
thnks!! greetings from Uruguay! You're the best
Another stellar lesson! There's always that one thing in every PJ song that flusters me. In this one it's going to be trying to get that opening riff up to tempo without missing half the notes. I have to admit I'm going to change the part going from the F# power cord to a standard G shape. I'm only one fret and two fingers away from a G bar chord. Since I'm going to an A bar chord next, it just seems easier. Only someone with your finely tuned earballs would notice the 3rd is up an octave.
Have fun golfing!
I agree with you, it's weird to switch into one random open chord, but that's EV 4U!
Saweet! This is simpler than I thought. Thanks 😊
:) amazing how the simple answer is usually the answer
This is one of the songs I like best...thanks!
yay!
I would like to thank you Ryan Lendt!
I would like to thank you for thanking me Kurt Hodge
Love it
:)
hope lifes great over there man would love to come over but thats difficult right now have a great christmas thanks for the tips
pleasure man, happy holidays to you
Thank you man!
welcome!
I first learned this song years ago by recording the SNL performance on VHS and watching it over and over. It’s been a minute since I played it so thanks for the refresher!
A minute ??
a minute is a long time in some parts of the world. it's a time zone thing.
@@dator77 yeah learned it in 1994, played it a few times to the track, and then never had the opportunity to jam it live with a band so I just forgot it. It’s an age thing!
You my friend ate the greatest!! ❤️
thanks Josh!
You, sir, rock !
thank you sir!
hey man i appreciate your videos so much you seem like such a cool guy bro
hey thanks bro
My favorite pear jam sing along!!
and a one and a two
Dude! You have no idea how much of a relief this is. I have been (trying) to play it the way you taught originally and it has to be my most frequently randomly goodly or craply played PJ riff. I always would say to myself, how in the hell does EV play that riff so damn fast and not screw it up (maybe I need to be drinking a bottle of wine prior to playing) ?!!!?!?!
Well leave it to Ryan Lendt Forensic Guitarist Extraordinaire PhD and his tooth brush!! Thanks man!!
happy to help Kevin, I am relieved as well :)
Sweet!
dolce!
Damn, that SG is sounding nasty! Loved the tone, and the lesson as usual!
thanks Savio!
Would be great to see you cover hitchhiker. Lost dogs needs more love
PhillyJosh we must combine forces and double our efforts. Hitchhiker has been worming in my brain for a long time. Ryan apparently has been taught to just drive on bye.
gosh dang both of you!
Not only do I dig the lessons I dig the beard!!!! 👍 thank you sir. This is a great lesson
He’s a handsome hairy outback Bruce!
hahaha the beard and I say cheers Blade :)
Awesome lesson! Still waiting for the campfire version tho :D
thanks RS!
For a sec there, on the cover still for this video, it looked like it said “Pear Jam” and I thought is Ryan doing some sort of Weird Al thing? Glad he isn’t. Excellent lesson man. I prefer Pearl Jam. Usually.
I did do that once but backed it up with a bad joke in the intro.
It sounds just like the studio version! Also, I don't know if this is how requests work, but I'd love to see an All Alone by Mad Season tutorial! I can't find any good tutorials for that and can't figure it all out
thank you for the request Alex :)
you say it starts to roll of your fingers but it doesnt really 😂😭
also i had to point out "but eddie said so and it's perfect the way it is". truly!
time, practice, patience Cam :)
@@RyanLendt i knooow but let me wallow in self pity or a bit :D
Wow! A revisit on RVM?!?! I take it you must have played the riff a different way? Back in the day of VCR’s I use to record the bands performances that I liked on TV and then tried to finger and hand peep as to what they were playing. Usually Pearl Jam and FF. Anyways, nice to nail it down the “proper” way! What happened to the Mike ditty at the end? Or is that in the other video? Thanks Ryan! Well done once again!
:) thanks fellow Ryan - figured I'd devote a video to mike's part :)
Nice 🤘🔥
thanks!
You bet :D
Hi.How's it going Ryan? Thanks for new lesson!
cheers to you kind sir Gabriel :)
I wish I had the courage to request this.. one day I will have it but by then it will be to late
listening homework: the clarks - born too late
Love your videos, became a fan recently. Now I can't leave. Thank you.
Can I request big exit by p.j Harvey and debonair by afghan whigs...
welcome to the party Nadav - thanks for the request!
You should do every nirvana song
i agree
Hi Ryan, although I can't play the guitar, I check your channel on a regular basis, I like how you dismantle the songs into 1x1 Lego pieces and then build them up again. I was wondering if you would make a tutorial of Painted Shield's On the Level? It's my favorite on the album. I love your muppet collection, btw! (*ring*)
thank you for that heap of kindness ZS - haha were you at the premier friday morning? I ask because that happens to be the song I asked stone about.
@@RyanLendt I was (I forgot to call you Rita 😂)! I hope you have plans with the song (that I call Cadillac 2.0 🤔).
If you have time, can you please do a lesson on "No Wrong No Right" by Soundgarden? I've had difficulty trying to learn the song by ear, and there aren't any decent tabs online. Thanks.
thank you for the request U :)
@@RyanLendt You're welcome! 😊
idk if you have done this song yet. but if you could do a lesson on freak by silverchair that would be sick.
thanks for the request Kira
@Ryan Lendt, How is this tuned?
i though it would be drop d?
standard
Ok guys and gals, earlier on i was in a wee Pearl Jam mood earlier when i was choosing my music. My eyes happened upon a bootleg I'd bought years ago. This got me to thinking, is there a bootleg archive of these kind of cds or recordings? This one is fucking amazing. This one is called Atlanta Jamming. 3rd April 1994. Check it out if you can
is that their Atlanta concert in 1994? Is it on two CD's without the tracks broken up? I think I have that one too...
@@RyanLendt yeah, the 2nd cd has Eddie singing with the Doors. Absolutely brilliant
5:21 Fly
Missing an R in the title. ☹️ but I’ll still watch I guess
Never go hard 'R'
Hey Nick how’s it goin’?
In theory he could also miss off the ‘o’.....
@@chrismarle959 all good man! Thank you. Hope all is well
NO TALKING TO EACH OTHER
Ryan, what would the chorus chords be if I wanted to play the full chord? The power chords, as you mentioned, are B C# G A F# E F# G A. Thanks for the lesson. I play the riff slightly different. I’ll give your way a try.
hehe. my way. this is Eddie's way :) If you want to play the full chord you'll have to futz around with which ones you prefer major and which ones you prefer minor. There's a right answer musically, but that doesn't mean it's correct for RVM :)
For realz!
rizzle!
didn´t you already do this lesson?
for real this time though
What about PJ's live perf of Fuck Up?
i've done that
@@RyanLendt thanks, Ryan!
Thank you thank you thank you! 10/10. One of my favorite PJ songs and I was playing it wrong! 😅The main riff sounds so much better with the open strings ringing... Could you do a lesson on Sugar Kane by Sonic Youth
as was I! thank you for the request FM :)
Are you in standard tuning ?
yup
Just don’t keep the bird poop next to the mayonnaise in the fridge and you’ll be fine
I can't believe I left that one on the table! well taken Sam.
When your neighbor takes up all the parking spots, bird poop is your greatest weapon. True Story
especially if you can yoga yourself into being able to poop your own bird poop. a lot of yoga is required, some might say too much yoga.
Oh no the r is missing
I noticed that too. Lol
fixed thanks guys!
Hey Ryan nice beardige
thanks Gavin
Reel big fish- you can’t have all of me
thanks for the suggestion
3/6/21. You did this song 3 years ago when you had long hair and would do some singing and, SHOCKINGLY FOR YOU, you got 13 DISLIKES! Where did the dislikes come from? From your singing? No wonder you stopped singing on your tutorials! (Just kidding). Keep singing! You’re at least as good as Eric the Actor( who sang “Wild Thing”) Google: Eric the Actor sings “Wild Thing”.This tutorial is better to learn from, but your long-haired singing tutorial was more fun to watch... In your previous video, I liked when Coach Turner got you upset when you were explaining why you never wear a COVID face mask in your videos. You said something like “that’s all you ever hear about nowadays, and I don’t want to remind my audience...” then you said a bad word, and then you apologized for saying that bad word. Later, you said that bad word again to Coach Turner. Are you trying to look cool in front of Coach Turner by saying that bad word? I liked the look on your face when Coach Turner said kids should not be charged for basketball or guitar lessons! Ryan, you just gave him a look. But what do you think about Coach Turner saying kids should not be charged with guitar lessons? Will you teach kids personal guitar lessons for free? Take care, Ryan.
haha that's a tricky question indeed, I think we should settle with kids who can't afford it who want to do the thing shouldn't be charged :)
