I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with Pearl Jam. Just found your channel and almost crapped my pants. Thank you so much! I've got some learning to do!
Welcome to the party Tyler! I hope you enjoy your stay :)
love playing this one. sounds great and looks difficult. People think I am better than I am.
fake it till you make it :)
You probably dont care but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all of the new series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my girlfriend during the lockdown xD
@Erik Blaine Yea, have been watching on Instaflixxer for since december myself :D
@@erikblaine421 Darn bots, get away from Ryan’s channel
Love the chords on this one! I think you nailed it. It is a blast to play......thanks for posting this!!
Thanks Dill! yeah I remember that one wasn't easy and felt like an accomplishment wading through all the bad tabs and finding PJ vids where you could see stone's hand - I'm glad that video helped you
Listening to The Vs. Album on a road trip to pick up a transmission, and forgot about this song. Had to learn it the next day, thank you so much, brother. Wish I was alive during this time, just for the music.
pearl jam plus road trip equals yay
Very talented to figure that in 3 days. Thanks just wrote it all down.
thanks :)
Thank you so much for this tutorial! This might be my favorite pj song!
First of all, thanks a lot! This one was tricky and the high E string tuned down to D was not something I ever considered! And man, that guitar has a dazzling tone!
thanks MV!
Loved this lesson. Thank you!
pleasure!
Think that the bro put one of the most correct and closer to the original chords and for a favourite band. Didnt searched for many chords or lessons in the net ,but these i looked, arent even close to that one. The song is not from the easy ones and the harmony in it is so great. Tnx man agian for the good lesson, apretiate what you are doin , and hope more people will find and understand how great music is this! Cheers!
Thank you friend! What a nice comment you took the time to write :) I'm glad you found that helpful - I remember working very hard on that one!
Np man, im just glad that there are people who are into this ,like me, and like to make the things correct, complete and right. And i just cant believe, that i started to listen to more PJ songs last year, so late lol.And i like how these songs are so different than comersial and basic stuff, and i love the melodic and harmony in them so much. And can say that this song ,with some others ,like Other Side maybe (that comes in mind for the moment) are even different for the most of PJ songs. Love how they go and explore the debts of music. And when i think most of the PJ song are so different and have theyr own life ,which is great. Well ,like i sayed, hope more people to find and understand these, atleast people with some passion for music. And hope to meet and share toughts with some of em. Have a nice day!
well said! that's exactly how I feel about PJ songs and why they are my favorite. Welcome to this world, and have a nice day yourself!
Wow I’m happy, thanks for making this man 😄 I loooove Pearl Jam and have been learning a lot of their songs lately
you have good taste Zach ;)
Great job here Ryan this sounds awesome... Those chords at the end are crazy! I've almost got em : )
good luck! Thanks not Stu, really glad to hear it!
Agree haha, saw them and instantly was like damn what’s this sorcery
great song! One of my favs. Thanks Ryan!!!!
you're most welcome :)
Dude you're amazing. All the pearl jam songs that arent that popular (that I love) are on your channel. Imma binge watch for a while haha
hehe that's the idea! PJ is great because every single one of their songs has SOMEONE who would call it their favorite... so I thought we'd cover every single one :)
if you have big hands (like me) you can do the bass line in the prechorus by doing 5th fret on the low D string open A string and then the Bb (1st fret on the first string) all while holding down the 3rd fret on the b string so you can keep strumming out those chords while you do the bass run. it sounds pretty nice imo
thanks for the tip Matt :)
Out of all the PJ songs I have learnt it is the obscure ones that I enjoy the most
well I'm really glad I made that video then :) Cheers Michael!
I can't believe I'm 6 years late to the party!! As always great lesson
thanks dave!
Great Work bro!! I love it
greetings from Argentina and long live to Pearl Jam
Thanks Dario! Long Live PJ!!
Glad you thought that part sounded like Dead or Alive as well... it was sneaking into my head even though I love Hold On!
:) great ears, um, think alike?
Sounds awesome. I never thought to learn this one. Thanks!
see? I know what you need before you do. hehe.
Ryan, your lessons are a big help to me. Thank you so much! I learned this one in an hour with your help :)
YEEHAW!! love it, thank you Chris :)
That is a Great Sounding Guitar!
thanks!
Fucking hell mate, I don't know what would I do without your lessons!
Cheers!
you're the best Marshall :)
Hi Ryan, just wanted to send a quick thanks for all the videos, especially the PJ. I picked up an old guitar during the pandemic after not playing for over 10 years. Relearned everything I knew and because of your videos learned about 20 Pearl Jam favorites. I just got a brand new Martin last week and everything sounds awesome because of your tutorials. Thanks again, Scott
that's a special guitar scott congratulations to you, and thank you for taking the time. All the luck to you :)
Thank you for doing this.
most welcome
@@RyanLendt I have been listening to covers and lessons that you make for some time now(years probably :) ),so I figured maybe it's about time to give you some likes. My bad for not doing it sooner. :)Greeting from Belgium.
Yes I do appreciate it Ryan you da man!
Thank you Chris :)
Love it ❤
you're back with a vengeance!
@@RyanLendt oh yeah, I am taking advantage of my holiday as much as possible. When the new semester starts I will.have few opportunities to practise
Sounds great! Thanks Ryan
I'm glad you enjoyed that Rodrigo :)
THANK YOU I WAS SO CLOSE
YOU'RE WELCOME AND YAY
thanks man!
You bet!
Awesome video. I realize it was uploaded a long time ago, but wanted to give yet another option to the last few chords in the chorus. I'm not really sure of the names, but after the 333563, in the shape of a C I play a X65060 to X65040 then X65040 down to X54030.
without checking, totally - the chords stone uses in this song are rather ambiguous and could be played in plenty of ways with much the same outcome. I personally think you should play it however suits you :) I think I remember being pretty sure this was how it was done because I poured over some live vids to check stone's hand position. for instance, 333563 would be a D shaped Fsus2, with a G in both the bottom and the top. x65060 is an Ebadd9, but maybe it sounds like it, i dunno, Eb is F's dominant 7 and it looks like you've got the open G in there, so maybe it fits!
Thanks a lot Ryan!
you're very welcome Lilo!
I like the chords in this song, very Zeppliny. Eddie's a beautiful writer too, it makes me feel like a schmuck lol.
I have a request for 'Hello, It's Late' by STP! We'll probably just end up playing that during our next lesson lol
I would bet $3.25 that stone wrote these chords - thanks for the request B!!
Thank you.
welcome
Much appreciated, Ryan. Thank you very much! Odd chord shapes but got it now. Needs a bit of practice this one... also good effort with pronouncing my name :D tbf, it was actually better than most of my English speaking friends :)
does TBF = to be frank??
to be fair, to be frank. I reckon it's the same thing :)
wonderful song. Great job dude.
thanks flip!
Thank you so much!!! I've been so excited for this one! And that would be awesome to see you around! My city of Spencer is one of only 2 McDonald's in the country to have Mcpizzas still, so if you're really interested😂
that's insane.... ohhhh I read your comment wrong on my next video, i thought it said just one of two mcdonalds - oops! That's hilarious, I've never heard of a McPizza before! Before I die I will make it to Spencer and have a McPizza :P I'll be in Morgantown this time. Hey do you know the clarks? the band, not your neighbor or something hehe
Ryan Lendt yes you have to! They were introduced in the 90s but discontinued in all but 2 locations in the US. And haven't heard of the Clark's. I can check them out though!
Yet another super vid Ryan. Thanks man! Ill work on this at home tonight.
Cool dude!
Thanks Bill :) Good luck!
Done! Took about an hour and a few rounds. Just need to polish it up now. Great Vid man
I'm a proud mom :)
LOL! funny guy. Greetings from the bullet train between Stuttgart and Mannheim ;-)
i hope you're listening to my song 'bullet trains' while you're on the bullet train!
I turn to you everytime
Thank you!
you're very welcome!
we do,... time to learn this,...
:) how did it go?
I found this one late, Ryan. But, as usual, first rate job on the transcription! This Is a really underplayed song at shows and I could only find a handful of examples on youtube of it ever being played. In fact, the first 1 I watched has Ed saying it's the first time they've ever played the song with matt-and, as I recall, this was circa 2010. I have a question. I wonder if you'll answer. Have you ever just gotten absolutely stuck on a song and emailed stone for help? You're a wealth of musical knowledge, so it seems you can figure out pretty much anything. Just curious if you ever had to "phone a friend"....lol?
I only pick up that phone when I have something really valuable to offer ;)
@@RyanLendt hahahaha...thanks for the response, Ryan. How are you doing? I know you moved to one of the Carolinas a couple of years ago. Everything good?
Hello Ryan,
I noticed you mentioned heading to West Virginia. That is where I am from which is pretty awesome. I was very pleased with this lesson though I haven't been able to completely nail it down yet. Those bar chords on the chorus are a killer haha! I've got everything down pretty much except for that. This lesson was excellent and I couldn't be happier to be able to play one of my favorite songs. Keep doing what your doing because it helps people like me a lot.
Indeed, my sister lives in Morgantown with her horses and chickens and dogs and children and her job at Mylan :) I made a few videos in her barn if you go back to August. I really appreciate that Matthew, thank you so much, and yes the chords in this song hurt your hand on an acoustic :)
Ryan Lendt that's pretty cool man. I'll be watching more of your videos keep up the good work!!
:) Thanks Matthew!
YESS!!!!
haha look and you shall find :)
plus you met echo
Epic turtle
was that echo? she ate a worm yesterday
Ryan what do you make of the outtro? 2 guitars, obviously the slide up to 5/6 on G/B is in there. Bit of F on the low D string?
oh man, i don't know. it's been so long since I thought of this song... perfect question for a secret stream!
Hey! Thank you, colega!! (It means "mate" or "dude", in spanish)
mucho gusto, colega!
fuck yes
haha comment of the year!
Got a written paper version of this anywhere?
not unless I announced it at the beginning
claasssss
:) I'm jealous of how many vowels you have in your name
Hey man: is that painting behind you just a single pear 🍐?
Astonishing, this is a top 5 song for me, thanks a lot! Check your PP :-)
I enjoyed putting that video up, i'm glad you like it! What is my PP? did I say that? I'm so confused :P
