- Today I am starting a new series of Growing Guides! The first video is all about growing Snail Vine. These particular seeds came from a plant at my mothers house. I have decided to make this a multi part series as this video is already fairly long and it gives you something to look forward to :). I also added a quick little look at my hollyhock which are out of control beautiful!
Snail Vine is (as in the name) a vine that produces masses of curly (snail like) shaped flowers. They are very fragrant and are also known to be called the 'most beautiful bean in the world'. They thrive in hot and humid climates and like consistently wet soil.

This vine is so beautiful and fragrant. I can’t wait to try and grow it this year. (2022)
Olá Bella rosa. . Em que cidade/país você está? onde encontrou as sementes? Eu também quero plantar. Em memória da minha infância. Saudações da França. Nádia

I'm starting these for the first time- so excited to have this fragrant plant. My seed packet says to soak them overnight, then plant in soil. But I might also try the bag method and nick the shell of one or two just to increase my chances. I hope mine germinate as well as yours!
Thankyou for your information on planting seeds have a strong growing vine in my garden still growing strong however only had one pod think rats ate rest however I will plant some seeds now with your knowledge 😊 thankyou again Joan 😊
Very nice video.
Thank you for taking the time to watch ☺️

Very Nice video! Thanks for making it :D. Just planted some seeds. Greetings from argentina!
Awesome! I hope they are doing well for you!
Great video! Thanks all the way from Grey Lynn in Auckland 😀 I Think I made out a kiwi accent in your vid?
I’ve got mine on a propagation heater in my bedroom right now, hope they come up! They belong to a friend, she had no luck so I told her I’d try them.
Hey ✌️ Yes, im a kiwi 😝 A heater would be good! A with any gardening too its a little bit of luck!
When they start to sprout need to be put in the soil. The embryo cannot feed the plants forever and the paper has no nutrients. I grow all my plants starting them in paper from 15 years, just put them in a pot as soon as possible.
Indeed! They flourished when I put them in their pots!
Question! Do they bloom their first year? Vines are now 7ft. tall but no sign of bloom.
15 days ?.... no 15 years
@@llh2385 A friend also has a lot of leaves. The plant is 6 m tall. But does not bloom. Maybe soil food or solar orientation? if you can give us an answer, thank you in advance.
Thank you. It is usefull, i would ask if you should cut part of the hard shell of the seed to help it to grow?
It wouldn't hurt!
Is this vigna caracalla?
If yes
Do we need to scrape the hard shell to expose the white inside?
If not
1) in the paper towel method.
How long do we need to keep it and do we need to keep in the dark or the filtering sunlight?
How do v keep it wet ?
Pls advise
👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!

Hello!! Great video! I was wondering, do I need to water the paper every now and then or just the first time before you put it into the plastic bag?
Heya! Sorry for the late reply and thank you for watching my video!
I only sprayed it once before putting it in the bag. It should stay moist at all times without adding more water as the zip-lock bag holds the water when it condensates and going back into the paper towel. It will get mouldy and some won't survive, but you will see results. Keep it on a sunny window sill, but not full sun the whole day. Love to hear your findings! Good luck! Cheers, Rachel.
Hi, great growing guides. I got a seed pod from a lovely older lady from down the road, its got about 16 odd seeds in it. Should I try germinate the seeds all at once or can I save some once pod has been broken? Also Is it too hot to start off seedlings being mid summer? Aldinga Beach Sth Australia Zone 10a Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thnx
Heya! You can save them, just make sure they don’t get moist. Put them in a brown paper bag. And for growing them, the hotter the better for starting seeds! 🙂 Cheers!
Hi from Tarsus in Turkey. Thank you for your informative video. I have just planted some seeds and hıpe they will come out alright. Fingers crossed. Planted them on 11th of February, so how long will it approx take to see the first leaves?
Thats awesome!
I would expect at least a month, they are quite slow to get started.
Hello Meryem. A year has passed since. What is the result of your Selluka ? Greetings from France. Nadia
Hi @@nadiananou5097 , Hello from a boiling horse Tarsus!..Well thank you for asking about my sellukas. Last year both of them did well, though they look rather weak still. And just 2 days ago I noticed that one of them just died..So sorry..The other one is not too bad..Hopefully it will turn out to have a stronger stamina..
@@meryemmirioglu6331 Oh ! the news is sad. I read that the plant must receive Potash and Nitrogen.
After research, potash is found in legumes, beans, potato peelings, tomato, squash, spinach avocado...
Nitrogen, in dried blood, urine, sawdust, NPK. That's if you want to go to his rescue, to his survival. I wish you good luck. Cheers.
Please test it in cotton wool
I dont have any more seeds! This was a wee while ago
