    I've had mine for 1500 miles it's well made, looks great and good value. My issues are poor fueling, rock hard rear shoxs, lying speedo in access of 10% but I still love it. But any long journeys I ride other machines

    This would appear to offer all the nostalgia of a bike from the 1950s with the advantages of a modern bike all rolled into one machine!

      @@Davidswordplay I'm waiting for my local dealer to ship one over for me to have a test on it. Fingers crossed and I'll have one for myself soon. Apparently, Benelli in India are outselling Royal Enfield's own similar spec bike at the moment. I can attest to the ruggedness of the Benelli product as I have a 502 TRK model already.

    I haven´t ridden my Moto Guzzi since I bought the Benelli last summer in Granada. I´m 71 and I live in the mountains, so a fast bike is not much use amongst the hairpin bends. The Imperiale is indeed an enjoyable bike to ride, the power is soft, like a side-valve, but ample for the hills. Low speed handling is fine, suspension is well suited to the bike, and all controls are well positioned. Going back to spokes and inner tubes seems a retrograde step, but cast wheels would be out of place here (in 1957).
    The fuel injection is not perfect, it idles at 1500 rpm, a bit fast for my taste, and opening the throttle gently as you like when entering a bend is likely to produce a sudden surge just when it´s not required, but I´m getting used to that and my wrist action is getting a bit more sensitive. Likewise closing the throttle can jerk you forward in the seat.
    These things I try to view as ¨character ¨ and I´m certainly not put off.
    It is fairly heavy compared to some bikes, but this means that the wheels, (not the bike) bounce up and down, and the bike feels very stable around corners.
    I´ve had Enfields, and I´m not immune to their charm, but the Benelli is in a different league. It would make a fine commuter, it´s a perfect tool for Sunday afternoon green-lanes, (and you don´t need a file and a hammer in the toolkit).

    • @Davidswordplay
      @Davidswordplay  Před rokem

      @@carada3225 Hi Carada, The rear suspension is adequate but if you intend to do a lot of travelling over rough roads I would consider updating it to aftermarket rear shock absorbers or update the rear springs to a heavier version. I guess they made the bike heavier to make it robust but it is more likely because it is inexpensive so they used a heavier tube.
      light tubing and frame brackets tend to be expensive! but overall it is a Motorcycle which is a lot of fun and it could become your friend for life! even with only 20 or so horse power.
