Japanese black bear should be the only species you'd find in Hakuba as there are no brown bear in Honshu (mainland of Japan). Even finding a black bear is almost impossible during winter time though.
A subspecies of brown bear does exist in Japan but they only live in an island called Hokkaido. It is literally a thousand kilometres away from where this was "filmed", so he must had a long journey.
All jokes aside, I wish if people made it clearer when they post edited fake stuff as a "banter". There are good amount of people who'd somehow believe this.
Using other country's name and warning people about fake danger isn't very nice either. Just do it in your country if you like making up pointless lies.

A lot of people seem to think this is real. It clearly has a grizzly hump, and there are no grizzlies in Japan. Even if it's an ezo brown bear, there are none in Hakuba, only on the island of Hokkaido. And the production company kind of gives it away...

0:54 bear is nowhere to be seen.
0:56 bear is suddenly pretty far to the left, but running in the same direction/ pattern as the beginning of the video.
Now, either this bear has figured out how to manipulate physics and time and knows how to teleport, or this is bullshit. I'm going to stick with the latter. This, of course, is not mentioning the inconsistencies with the bear growls, the fact that brown bears are not found on the mainland, the fact that the weather is inconsistent with the actual weather for that day, the filming of a 20 second run with no interesting features/ tricks/ speed/ etc., the fact that the bear was running the same speed when it was right behind her and when she was just starting (yet the bear couldn't catch her in the beginning), or the fact that the bear just looks CGI in general.
There is literally zero evidence that this is real.

An excellent fake, but the bear seen at 0:36 and at 0:50 is the same clip repeated. I am a VFX pro of 20 years, and someone very experienced must have comped this. The matchmove and roto are nearly perfect, and the way the perspective matches the last angle of the bear really sells it.

tuber i don't know very much about special effects. I did read though that in the part of the world this video was said to be shot the brown bears there sleep from mid December until late March. This made me think this is fake but im not sure when the video was filmed. She said "yesterday" and it appears the video was loaded on April 10th which if accurate means there could be bears awake and active. What were you talking about with the effects, what would i look for in the video to see the mistake you mentioned?
I'm no veteran of 20 years, but I've done some VFX myself. Premiere Pro and After Effects is my definite recommendation. There are excellent tutorials on the web for them, and check out videocopilot.net.

Certainly not bears on snow, and certainly vocalising, because they are ambush predators. Polar Bears hunt people in Norway. The school in Longyearbyen has 3m super tough wire fencing round the play park to stop the kids being eaten. You're not allowed to leave town without a gun. That is how sneaky they are.
