80s Flair vs. 80s Hogan promos are so night and day. I was 1st introduced to WWF, but once I discovered NWA and WCW there was no comparison for me. This was so much more real and entertaining!
I liked when he ranted on Nikita as a quasi-babyface about America being God’s country and “If I wanna wear a Rolex watch…you haven’t got one, ya understand?!? HA HA!!!”
"You can't be first...but you might be next!" ranks near the top for me. Along with, "Long limousines...jet airplanes...custom-made clothes...and annny woman in the world I want (snaps his fingers) just like that!"
I love the arrogant Ric Flair. There’s one promo he does when he is talking when the camera pans to someone in the audience and he says “Get that camera back on the World champion”
@@ronaldshank7589 i went to a few arenas back in the earlier days of the four horsemen (ole still one) and used to cheer them. the crowds were about 25% or more in favor of them. tully was an exception. he had some genuine and deep serious serious heat.
Yeah... until "Mr. Pizza Hut" Jim Herd came around, and wanted to do a bunch of stupid storylines! Having a Tag-Team known as the Ding-Dongs ain't gonna help his reputation. Never did, and never will! Then-As if that wasn't bad enough, Mr. Herd wanted Ric Flair to get his hair cut, put an earring in one of his ears, and call him "Spartacus". That was the last straw for Ric Flair. In September, 1991, Ric Flair went to the Then-WWF to wrestle. He'd had enough of WCW at that point!
I watched this live on the 5:05 p.m. WTBS show in December '86 as a 13 year old. It's still a great Flair talking his normal shit interview in 2021. Tremendous!
Someone could make a lot of people a lot money turning this man into a college course for professional wrestling. SERIOUSLY. Ric has the ability to be used as a guide to success in that industry. His promos are irrefutably the best ever. I was born in 86', gosh I've spent over an hour, several times watching these. I about pissed myself when said " you got 2 weeks" 😂😆😂😆 Tony Shav's reaction is great too.
The reason Ric Flair is the man is he understood that to take it to the next level all the associations would need to unite. He singlehandedly brought all of the wrestling programs and top talent together through his promos and sheer, natural charisma to carry the sport on his shoulders
God, I hated Ric Flair when I was a kid, and it was because of promos like this. I literally believed that any and every time he defended the title he was going to lose it, and it frustrated me to no end that he didn't. Damn right it was real to me! It just shows how great of a heel he was and how great of a performer he was.
Ladies and Gentlemen weather you like it or weather you don’t like it,learn to love it…because he is Your Worlds Heavyweight Wrestling Champion…The Nature Boy Ric Flair…WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! P.S. Diamonds are forever and so is Ric Flair!

Awesome!! Ric Flair was Incredible! No matter what you think of him now and him having to perform past his Prime..When he was in his Prime and On, like this video, I have NEVER seen Better. I grew up in Memphis during the 70's and 80's and Jerry Lawler, Jackie Fargo and Bill Dundee are the same way...All Incredible and put Asses in Seats!!!!
I loved it when Ric would go full out arrogant like this and start flaunting his wealth as justification of his telling people what they could do and not do.
LOVE Tony Schiavone's reaction when Flair tells Crockett, "We go right back to the basics. I defend this or I don't work for you." This was one of the very first instances where a wrestler tells off a boss. Wonder where Vince McMahon stole the idea and made it a Monday night tradition? You're looking at it.
Jerry Lawler had a vibe with people like Jerry Jarrett and Eddie Marlin years before that in Memphis. Part of nobody tells the villain how it's gonna be etc. Oh Eddie Marlin (R.I.P.) was Jerry's actual Dad and Jeff's actual Grandfather. So Jerry Lawler actually sassed two thirds of a Promotional Dynasty (not even counting Christine Jarrett, who promoted Memphis cards in The 1940s if memory serves).B.W.
I like that Flair acknowledged Brad Armstrong among his great opponents. Armstrong was one of the best ring talents ever - not to mention the best Armstrong ever - yet he gets very little recognition.
Flippin guy was and is the best. What an ass kicker. The GOAT. I've been getting fired up to his promos for 30 plus years. 1 word, OUTSTANDING. Zero weaknesses
Actually, the one weakness I saw was that ric always wrestled the exact same match. I didn't like that he was always on his knees begging no name wrestlers for mercy even though we all know that he was trying to get them over, trying to make them look good. I would've liked to see flair in a more ferocious brawler type of wrestler instead of on his knees. It made no sense to talk loud in the interviews then crawl around the ring on his knees begging for mercy. Thats my opinion.

I love the way he always talks about "The Bottom Line" as though he's the CEO of General Motors or something. I also got a good laugh on this one about how he compliments the intelligence of the dedicated wrestling fan who "lives wrestling day in and day out".

If you took the 50 greatest interviews of all time Flair would have 40 of them.
Flair has 75 of the top 50 interviews in history
Cactus Jack and Stunning Steve Austin had some career making promos in ECW.

Macho Man is up there to. Different energy, different vibe and lots of quotable sayings
The top 100 interviews of all time would be 70 of Flair 30 of AA...
