Bought a Star floor safe at an auction without the combination. I have pulled off the cap and have successfully lined everything up to get the bolts to retract but when I put the cover back on and try what I think is the combination it does'nt work as I hope. Very frustrating. I see videos which say left 4x to 1st number and your video goes right to 1st number. More confusion. Low serial number so combination not available from AMSEC. Assistance required.
Is it just me that found it odd that he turned right/CW to the last number (55) and continued to turn right until the (fence) "drop" when reassembling the lock. Also during the final test, turning right to the last number but this time pushing in and turning left until you can push in further to turn right to retract the bolt is also just a kludge. I'm pretty sure he's dialing the lock in the wrong direction, based on this kludgy mess and other CZcams videos (from dean safe for example) that explain how to open these round amsec/star floor safes. You start by turning left/CCW for the first number and because of this the combination is going to be a few numbers off.
I bought a house with one of these installed in the slab. Before I bought the house someone took a hammer to the safe and broke off the dial. Do you have any suggestions on how to get into it?
I have a star machine floor safe with the top off and trying to get the combo discovered and working. Following your video I feel like I’m close but missing something. I’ve taken off the horseshoe, turned right and left until the spaces line up, reinstalled the horseshoe, the with the lid still upside turned to the right to drop the spring, reinstalled the back plate, dialed the combo, but when I turn left and push, I’m not getting drop like yours did. I am thinking my combo is one or two numbers off. Any hints would be amazing.

Anyway to manipulate it? We have one at school and noone has opened it in 20 plus years. No one knows the combination.
