    Hey John. I have had this safe for about 15 years now and it seems to be not as smooth spinning as it used to be. Is there a way to self service this lock with lubricant, or is that something only a locksmith can do, or does it not even need that at all? The action isnt exactly "gritty", but rather just a tad "sticky" when trying to land on the right number. Thanks!

    • @DeanSafe
      @DeanSafe  Před 3 lety

      +Jordan Lee
      The entire door will spin within the body while It has nothing to do with it opening the safe, it allows you to spin the door to face you to open the combination more easily.
      In general if you can’t lift the door out of the ground the bolts have not been fully retracted. With your fingers (don’t use pliers etc.) attempt to turn it a little bit more to the right if possible and give it a bit of a tug. There’s a whole list of things I could have you do but there’s not enough room this is the one that’s most successful. If you still can’t get in it’s time to call a professional safe man. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful but it can be a very complicated subject at times.

    • @DeanSafe
      @DeanSafe  Před 5 měsíci

      There are a couple things that could be wrong it's possible the combination has shifted slightly over the years. This is usually solved by dialing each of the numbers a half a number up and try it. Then try it a half a number low and see if it catches at the drop in point. You can do the same thing a full number. High then try a full number low. If things seem to be frozen up a little bit on the inside when you get to the drop in (@ 0) take a hammer and sharply tap just outside of the dial and wiggle the combination back-and-forth around zero it may then when you turn to the right you'll know it. Good luck with all this. there's more but I put you to sleep. Hope this helps, John.

      @@wstt4 plan B might work if you’re up for it. Take the back cover plate off remove the back of the lock dial while you’re watching it. It doesn’t take too long to figure out how they operate and you’ll be able to read the combination on the other side just remember, you start by turning the dial left four times and watch what happens in the back then you’ll slowly start turning to the right three times until the gate lines up with the fence then you look at the number
      It takes some tinkering, but it can be done. Be careful to get the re-lock device set correctly when you put it back together and don’t shut the door until you know it’s correct.

    • @DeanSafe
      @DeanSafe  Před 4 lety

      +LOLA LOLIK No idea, but here are some tips first for a drifting combination this helps.
      Try dialing the combination and add a half a number to each one of the three numbers. Next subtract a half a number to each number and try again.
      Next try a full number up and down. Compare the serial number on the safe with the serial number on the card. Of course there is no guarantee it will be the same combination it may have been changed in the past.
      Just to check, are you sure you’re pushing down at zero.
      Still not working? Dial the combination push in at zero, hold the dial down and hit the door a few times as hard as you can with a rubber mallet or the equivalent.
      I’ve had these tricks worked for me in the past if they don’t however it’s pretty much guaranteed you’re going to need to get a good safe tech out there and he’ll probably have to drill it.
