It thrills me to see her at 90 looking so beautiful and sounding so clear, articulate, and still so full of life and enthusiasm! Thank you for continuing to inspire me and other vocal artists around the world. Many blessings to you always, Ms. Leontyne Price.
My grandmother sung against the great Leontyne Price in opera when they were younger in Mississippi. They remained friends and she kept all of her records and accomplishments. I learned Lift Every Voice and Sing from an opera version of the song by Miss Leontyne that my grandmother gave to me. She said the best way to learn a wonderful song is to hear it from the best! She was right! ❤️
She will always be my GREATEST inspiration for loving OPERA and pursuing a Career in it. Her Voice is the most beautiful Sound that I ever heard. Hands down, she was the best. Her artistry defies logic. I thank God I was allowed to witness such MUSICAL Brilliance in my 52 years of life. Thank God her recordings will live on forever🌹🌹🌹🌺🌺🌺💐💐💐🌸🌸🌸🌷🌷🌷🎵🎵🎵🎵
Interesting that on hearing the news that she had been given the great honour, she immediately reflected on her parents, her hometown and teachers. The people and community that nurtured her.
Ms. Price, you look fantastic! You broke down so many barriers and we are all the better because you shared and thrilled us all with your superb, glorious voice. I am a native Mississippian as well and we are so very proud to call you ours!
Leontyne was gifted to us by God. She is a black woman who overshadowed and overcame the stereotypes and judgements of her own time. She is American history at it's best. She is a triumph of true faith, perseverance and talent winning over overwhelming odds. Oh, and she also has a voice that is a once in a lifetime experience.
CANNOT IMAGINE being told that YOU'RE GOING TO OPEN THE NEWLY REMODELED NEW YORK METROPOLITAN OPERA HOUSE🤯🤯🤯🤩🤩🤩😁😁😁‼‼‼ BLESSINGS ON THE ONE AND ONLY LEONTYNE PRICE FOREVERRRRRRRRR❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
If I think too long about this woman's courage, gratitude for everything that contributed to her success (Mama and Papa especially) and, of course, talent, I could just cry. Talk about coming as one but standing as ten thousand...
I understand the opening was televised. Many states including Mississippi where she was born, refused to air the program! She was the voice of the century!
I would love to spend an afternoon with her and just talk and talk and talk. Thank you for posting. P.S. because of your Miss PRICE I have converted several of my friends to Opera. Sincerly Arnold Bourbon Amaral 👑🌿🎼🌏🌍🌎🌹
A Queen, A Goddess, PURE ELEGANCE. Wow ! I love this lady so much. Wish I'd had the privilege of meeting her. She's taken great care of herself, 93 years old now. I hope she's doing well
She celebrated her 96th birthday in Feb. 2023. She's one of the greatest sopranos America has ever produced. She would love my reference to her native land because she was EXTREMELY proud to be an American.
There are only a handful of truly great American sopranos, in my opinion.. and this beloved angel is one of them.. the other two would be Beverly Sills and Robert Peters. Their voices make me think of what angels must really sound like.
So disappointing that all of the comments are from black faces. This woman is a national treasure. As a white person I bow down to this real diva. No one is classier than this woman.
And Puertorrican Justino Diaz. sang.with her, to this day I do not understand Beverly Sills bragging that the public showed up in another theater to see her instead.
Historians of America knew that the Black Jews of Europe were black Italians, Spaniard, Dutch, Portuguese, Scotland and Ireland: They also knew that Opera Singers were originally black during the 1600's and 1700's century; So Leontyne Price is probably a descendant. You can find black European history in the 1700s, and early 1800's books. Leontyne name means "Lion"
Why would you even say something like that? What kind of moron are you? You should have the life this living legend has had! Shame on you! Baritone? Hahaha... Where your shower?? Hahahahaha.....
This is one of the most disturbing aspects of Price's career. She claims to be not just a patriot but a "super" patriot. She wants to "do her country proud" in spite of the fact she and her people are despised for existing. She has given a salute to the flag that almost broke her shoulder & arm. Her voice has saved her from the most foul of American History. What is so ironic, she should have learned how to sing _Ernani ! Ernani, Ivolami_ the way Verdi wrote it. Price didn't owe the United States a damn thing.
It thrills me to see her at 90 looking so beautiful and sounding so clear, articulate, and still so full of life and enthusiasm! Thank you for continuing to inspire me and other vocal artists around the world. Many blessings to you always, Ms. Leontyne Price.
And that wonderful Southern accent. Prima Donna Assoluta!!! Brava!
It's a blessing 🙏
She's 90 years old here and as sharp as a tack...her speaking voice remains exactly the same.
LOVE that speaking voice and that southern accent. What a woman!
She 91 sounds like a young mama #legend
