I don't mean to spoil your opinion, she is probably the oldest living soprano. But Whitney Houston her cousin wasn't coined the Voice for nothing. Two completely different genres but just as good in their craft. Wish Whitney Houston could of conquered her demons & have longevity as this talented Queen.
i got to see her at massey hall in toronto in the early eighties, she always came here because her toronto fans were very loyal, she walked onto the stage wearing a black gown and and a black turban and these huge diamond drop earings i will never forget her such a star
What a great opportunity to enjoy this EVENT at the White House with Leontyne : she sings this Page in the best way .... never heard something like this !! I LOVE HER !!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting this Historical Performance of Mrs PRICE !!!
One of those treasured moments for an operatic audiophile to savor the stupendous voice of Leontyne Price! ♥️ A White House era that showcase the best talents of America 🇺🇸 polite society and mutual respect. How have Americans veered so off course today? 🤔
ironically, her spinto abilities were at their summit towards the end of her career, i would dare say her vocal chords are made of steel. the moment at 2:50 was one of the most beautiful notes i have ever heard
an andy Her breath control was amazing next to Caballe. We saw Madame Price twice & we felt like we had been transported to Opera Heaven. Arnold Bourbon Amaral
How cheap, tawdry and small-minded it is for you to use this concert by the great Leontyne Price to attempt to promote your own political bigotry. Shame...
Pass the torch and preserve the past . amanda gorman is great. Cho cho san is a writer in phoenix. 3 2 2021. Cho cho at age 71 still brags of her 4 octaves. A well preserved voice
thank you President Carter for asking for an encore and my GOD, what an instrument of pure beauty, thank you Leontyne Pryce.
I haven't heard anyone singing this better than her. Just precious!

I heard Miss Leontyne sing this when she was 65 years old, in a recital in Lakeland, FL, and she was every bit as FANTASTIC then as she is here!
Her artistry and dignity are a gift to America. President Carter understood what her contribution should mean to all of us here and abroad.
Leontyne Price sings, "Summertime" the Best! Amazing Vocals! Just Priceless! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
She's just pure beauty to hear and to see. Her spirit lifts everything.
Absolutely ethereal and sublime! Tone, precision, diction, phrasing, such perfection of her craft and this aria! I felt every note!
No one sings like her! Brava La Divina ❤️❤️❤️

Miss Leontyne you are the greatest!!! My grandmother Florence made sure I knew about you! She always loved you! ❤️
Price wonderfull
Bess was her first major role after graduating from Julliard. She went on a world tour singing the role of Bess in the early 1950's.
Summertime is sung by Serena, not Bess which was Miss Price's role.
Pius -this comment just irritating -do some research -it was the only role available-the fact that she does it so amazing somehow must escape you
@@Sebastian-tf5vr Huh? How did I disparage her performance? Are you having a bad day?
@@murrayaronson3753 I made no mention of who sang "Summertime". I specifically said Ms. Price played Bess. You're arguing with yourself.
Just chills! Oooooooooooh, the lady can sing!!!
Gorgeous.

Great. Now I can't listen to anyone do this song ever again...
It's Apr. 2023, forty-six years later, and all three (Ms. Price and the Carters) are still alive and in their late 90's.
Phenomenal
Maestra Price's accompanist was the now late but always wonderful David Garvey.
The Foremost Exponent of True Singing !!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

You won't see this kind of class and elegance in the Trump White House, that's for sure.
How cheap, tawdry and small-minded it is for you to use this concert by the great Leontyne Price to attempt to promote your own political bigotry. Shame...
@@photo161 political bigotry? facts are facts, Trump has no artistic interests
