Nikki being the odd one out not wearing glasses - if she did it would be a complete spectacle :)
Thanks so much for having me!!! Happy to answer any questions pertaining to the design and theme here :)
I hope this game came to Brazil.
I am a man of simple (but impeccable) taste: I see Deborah in a GameNight video, I click.
Same here man!
This was a great video! Deborah was so funny with the impressions and the murder!
Deborah, Mistress of Obliteration.
Good work with this one! Thanks all!
Great game and fun to watch you guys play!
Planar fasciitis. Wow, Lincoln was so on point and so Deputy Dog about it. So good.
Wow I am loving this so far! Only 40 mins in and I’m hooked. You’re going to have to play this on a livestream with Aaron!
Another awesome episode 🥰 A Call Of Cthulhu game - How can ya go wrong - Looks like a lot of fun 🥰
I put this on in the background while doing dishes and ended up GLUED to it. Preordered a copy. Cthulhu stuff is super not my jam, but multi-use cards ARE SO MY JAM. This looks awesome.
Nice looking glasses, Deborah!♥
Always love Cthulhu! Would a Cthulhu Christmas game work, I wonder..? It could be an interesting mix of bad and good gameplay!
Im not certain if the results lead to a fake site but apparently Lovecraft wrote some Christmas poetry.I think there was a phase of fake Lovecraft poetry
I can imagine some Lovecraft stuff working for Christmas as most of the traditions associated have little to do with Christ and more to do with pagan worship
Only 10 minutes in but this is so much better than the Dice Tower video. Not only do you zoom in a bit to better see the board at times, but everyone is paying attention and listening. I enjoy the DT top 10 and crowdsurfing videos but almost always skip their playthroughs as you can never follow what's happening nor learn a game as they all talk over each other constantly.
yeah...love tom and his team but their playthroughs are just terrible. never bother to set the cameras for best viewing.
That wouldn’t be too hard.
Preoder come with 5 miniature.
That miniature for Death May Die Fear Of The Unknown?
Each with their own cards?
Very nice playthrough, thanks for that! If I see it correctly this game will be in retail end of 2024? Can’t wait for it.
love the aesthetic, but that's some small font and some small icons right there!
I only play games solo and I don't enjoy hidden role games at all. But seeing this really makes me wish I had a group to play with this looks great!
It’s a solo that doesn’t use hidden roles!!!
Deb: I'm on my way to crazy, murder will do that to you.
Like most Cthulhu/Lovecraft related boardgame, it seems very complex.
Just like in the ttrpg Cthulhu Pulp, Deborah won by killing anything that moves and being the last one standing 😂
At 1.49.00 mark. Doesnt 3 insanity tokens trigger the end game? Thats how it was explained.
And second, what are cache cards for?
only if the players Alignment is an Investigator or Dissident, he was a cultist and Cache cards are a Reserve of primary Asset cards that, unless stated otherwise,
don´t enter the game.
Is this a reprint/remaster of A Study in Emerald?
It definetly looks like Study of Emerald.
It is. Basically A Study in Emerald 3rd edition but in the Death May Die setting.
Have you had a chance to play this at 2 players? If so, how does it handle?
Chaos for the win!
On a different note, I'm not sure I understand how the dissident helps in the 2 player game (I kind of understand in 3). Can someone please expand on that?
Two reasons: 1. uncertainty. With just 2 alignments, if you're on the same side then the low score elimination doesn't work OR you know what the other player is bc it's binary. The Dissident can hide better and it adds just enough uncertainty. 2. It is no longer binary. You might be sharing the same track, you might not, but there absolutely will not be someone on your exact side. This also means that the dissident can pursue lines of play that would be not viable in the binary scenario of investigator/cultist only. So cards can/will be taken that might not be otherwise. There's even more nuance with regard to assassinating a dissident or not, which track they're using, insanity, etc.
Reworking of A study in Emerald? Ah, yes.
What about the double agent mechanic? I hope it is still part of the game. Otherwise, it'll be uncompleted.
I do hope that covering pre-production versions of games doesn't become the norm in the future. There is already too munch coverage of Kick-started or previews for upcoming games
so many seals...arrr-arr-arrr-arrrr
Game board looks much better than ASiE Revised, but nowhere near as pretty as ASiE 1st edition, imo. Speaking of pretty, I’m convinced Deb shares some kind of aging genes with Lynda Carter
A good playthrough. I personally am not a fan of the game. Feels like it is trying to do too many things game mechanic-wise that seperate it from the theme to a distracting degree. "Kill your darlings" was not applied here.
Maybe check out the 2nd edition of Study. It streamlines the system, but also the game loses the edge a bit. This isn’t a system I would ever dreamed up myself, but I love it and was lucky to be able to design within the framework. It’s definitely dense and nuanced, but the darlings need not be killed as they are very welcome in the design :)
So many rules…
It's def a nuanced game. If you took out the images and examples, the rules are a scant 12 pages.
Tune into the December 28th video. That is a game with a lot of rules! -Lincoln
I will be honest, this game seems a bit complicated
