The people of the Oroko tribe in Cameroon call it "Ekpang." It is their traditional dish, and they are the originators. I honestly don't know how Non-Orokos in Cameroon came up with the name "ekwang
In Akwa Ibom state (which used to be a part of Calabar) in Nigeria it's also called ekpang nkukwo & ekpang in it's shortened form. That region within Southeastern part of Nigeria is separated from Cameroon by several bodies of lagoons, Rivers & tributaries.. however parts of Cameroon were tribally one region originally before being settled & divided by the Europeans. When you are free I want you to take a look at the similarities with dishes from Akwa ibom State in Nigeria and you'll see we've got the similar words, cooking styles, bone & height structure as well. Because the Annunciating of certain words change as you move within regions and there's now a demographic change to consider. When you physically relocate, you'll find that the sound and spelling of certain words change and will differ according to the sounds in enunciations within that region.

Just like that. It doesn't have an accompaniment.
