Steven Lawson: More Than Conquerors

  • When God begins His work of salvation, He always completes it. This is the core truth taught in Romans 8, that when the Lord chooses and justifies us, our final destiny is secure. Nothing-not even ourselves-can separate us from His love in Christ Jesus. In this session, Steven Lawson exposits Romans 8:31-39, arguing that the work of God in Christ means that there is nothing that we can do to separate us from His love. In fact, we overcome everything in Christ-we are more than conquerors through Him.

      @@salomonavila1402 yes I know!! But don't you know the scriptures? It was our sins that put him there!! We ALL went astray, we ALL turned our backs on the Lord. We were born enemies of God, every one of us. Yes, our Blessed Saviour prayed for us, Father forgive them, for they know not what they do. If he was crucified for your sins, you put him there!! He suffered for my sins, and I didn't know what I was doing, I didn't know that It was my sins that put him there. I hope you understand this truth 💗

    This sermon is so comforting and reassuring. I lost my husband to Covid-19 a few months ago , and just knowing of the promises of God are real, gives me such comfort. He loves me , and nothing can separate his love from me. This is all I want to hear. What a loving and mighty God we serve . I am happy because he so loves me, He sends his only Son to die for an unworthy sinner like me. Yes I believe , and I am looking forward to be with Him one day.

    Powerful truth Dr. Lawson is proclaiming that, unfortunately, will be overshadowed by this inflammatory statement towards Native Americans. 14:35 “God is not an Indian Giver”.

    • @jaxondabeastz2046
      @jaxondabeastz2046 Před 3 lety +2

      It’s more of a colloquial statement now and not something targeted at that people. “Indian giver is an American expression used to describe a person who gives a "gift" and later wants it back, or who expects something of equivalent worth in return for the item.” It’s not politically correct, but in the context of his sermon, he does not contrast God with Indians, but rather “Indian givers”.

    Although I believe in the assurance of our salvation, I don't see how this passage speaks about our Salvation. The whole chapter 8 speaks about the work of the Holly Spirit in our lives. Paul had addressed the issue of salvation in chapters 4-6.

    Very encouraging Pastor. QUESTION: do you think its possible for a true believer to deny Christ in a moment of terrible persecution and if they did would that indicate they perhaps weren't true believer in the first place? Or is that part of the message that no one even a believer who in a moment of weakness to spare their life...that couldn't separate them from Christ? I sometimes wonder would I be able to stand if forced to see people close to me suffer or even myself. I hope this isn't a silly question. Thanks

    • @madcow9421

      Catherine Marchand Peter denied Christ 3 times. Still was proclaimed the rock of the church

    • @jacksonlynch1731
      @jacksonlynch1731 Před 3 lety +1

      It's definitely not a silly question. But just as Dr. Lawson says, no other created thing includes you personally. As a created thing, once God has declared you justified, not even you have the ability to seperate yourself from that justification. As the previous commenter mentioned, even Peter denied Christ, and when Christ addressed him after his resurrection, Christ still called him Simon Peter. Simon the Rock. God knows we are weak and pitiful creatures, afraid of the pain the world can bring to bear upon us. And even in those moments of weakness, we can rest assured in God's love and compassion. In those situations, we can only pray that the Holy Spirit will fill us with the strength we need to stand in the face of persecution.

      I have always struggled with eternal security. In regards to the reference of Peter’s denial and then post- resurrection, he was the rock of the church. I would argue that after the denial, Jesus’ works came back to his mind; he ran away, weeping bitterly. To me, this weeping would be an act of realizing his sin and asking for forgiveness.
