"... harms KG, my friend and me!" "Yeah." Kage is the master of the right timing for the most laconic syllables. And you simply gotta love young, hyperactive Jables.
Interesting to see how the song developed over time. With Jack singing and acting like he's stoned you see the original comedy intentions of the song much clearer than in the album version, which rocks so hard it can't be as funny. The swing between the chilled "What's the name of this song" and screaming "EXPOSIVO", then back to chill again, is hilarious.

man i think i saw like a dozen performances of explosivo a couple of years ago... late night shows and whatnot. and i'm pretty sure i saw them all on youtube - and now they seem to be gone -_- but at least they leave this one up... IMO possibly the most important recording anyway because it is so early into their career...
I think jb really hates bowie. Cause they always get that song suggested during concerts and jack starts telling the story, then before they play it, jb just gets bummed out and stops.
A dark time for the D. They wrote that song when they realized the devil only paid for one month of rent which they were already behind on and sadly were forced to visit the place that all musicians dread. The pawn shop. But did they quit? Hell no. Guitars? Who the f___ needs em? We're the D. And we're nothing if not tenacious. We can write a masterpiece without guitars. And at that very moment, they hear a honk from behind. And that, my friends is why, you'll no longer see JB play his beloved black, double horned, cryptic symbols, rock crown special. Legend has it that it was bought by some kid who didn't stick with it and eventually got into RC car racing and moved to Anaheim. He saw the trailer for Pick of Destiny, thought it might be good but never went to see it and thus never realized what he had. And so the guitar awaits it's master as its master awaits his axes reemergence. Forever passing each other in the night. The RC car kid left it at his grandmother's house in LA. Jack doesn't know it but he's driven right passed it, within feet of it, hundreds of times, as is the nature of the world. For, it never fails a chance to exercise irony. I bet you're wondering right now how the world is exercising irony on you. Isn't that right Brian. Yes, you Brian. I'm talking to you specifically. I bet that freaked out anyone who read that and who happened to be named Brian.
Jack brings the juice and Kage brings his rockin' sauce. Epic! Plus.. when they play guitar at the same time... People's heads fucking explode!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
kage literalyl looks the exct same as today lol

Alan Chung It was a perfectly reasonable response, you shithead.
@Ted Wilson woh see now murder is way worse than an online sentence. Calm down psycho
And today😋
I would instantly buy an entire album of Kyle and Jack harmonizing.
I like how the audience is laughing but then they start cheering because the song totally rocks.
It slowly blew their minds as it was designed to do.
Damn, these songs are 20 years old now...
It's incredible Tenacious D has 20 years now...
Make it 21 now.

The band is older than I am
23 now

Jables was 29 years old back then... wow
Still awesome. Just rewatched PIC OF DESTINY still hilarious and beautiful all these years later

SamStancill Superb analysis. Not. You’re a piece of shit.
Okay?
SamStancill STFU, you racist pile of crap.
@@stanknugget the fuck are you on about?!?
I don't think Jack actually played a single note on the guitar...
Marko Sarajärvi barely ever does its just for looks
I mean he mainly focuses on singing- but when KG does solos Jack will play the rhythm part to fill out the sound.
If I remember right, KG was the one that taught Jack guitar.
Christopher Borelli he was
Oohh but he can play, he can play my friend. Not as good as Kyle of course, BUT HE CAN PLAY.

Yeah! fuck you Nathan!
But seriously though. why did he write all of this?
JAck Black is seriously the greatest. I can't believe it took so long for everyone to get on board with what an absolute powerhouse he is.
I knew it the moment I saw the Jackel. Minor part but perfectly executed. Then... the cable guy.. the rest is rigiguuhguh gowe!

This is my favourite performance of Explosivio jacks delivery is spot on!
My favorite recording of this song
This is simple, yet so EPIC!
2:07 some dude throws Jack's glasses back.
I would have kept them and use them everyday!!
nobody gave a shit about jack black at the time. They probably thought those glasses were disgusting
I would never do that
When comedians can really play music and sing.

Limewire? I have so many mis-named tracks from those days
It's Greg from Yes, Dear! And The D all young and spring chicken-y. Damn you could tell that they would one day change the world.
The audience for this is perfect.
As an old soul person for 1997, Tenacious D is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love how he's trying desperately to tell the story all while completely winded from the first song.
kage omg, he never had any hair, did he?
Did you not see the movie?
Those golden locks...
Melissa Dangerfield a shiny golden God

Man I know the D is technically a comedy act. But the fact that I truly enjoy it is what brings me back over 20 years later lol.
Just freeking epic.

jables dancing at 1:45 this is just too good, too good
4:06 is a blast from the future. Oh c'mon. I can't be the only one whose head played Talk Dirty To Me.

At 3:13-3:19, there's something about the double-take that Jables shoots at Kage that just makes me pee my pants laughing.
