    Honestly, the way its looking, now even without textures and preprepre-alpha, is astonishing.
    Now, from an indie to another indie dev, how do you expect to handle the multiplayer side of thing? Because we know that servers for multiplayer games are needed, and they cost...

      @galaxygrudge  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah so right now, users can host their own games to play against friends. Hopefully down the track we can get some dedicated servers up so folks can play competitive matches also

    Been watching the dev of this game on Reddit and other sources and I'm quite impressed. I too have made an arena-shooter so it is amazing that they are still being made.

    Looking forward to playing your game and following your tutorials. Just please don't make the mistake I've seen countless times with small pvp games like this where players become highly skilled from playing hours of the beta/testing period. This makes your beta testers burnt out when the game finally releases and also makes it so that new players get destroyed by the skilled players which creates a vicious cycle. Instead I would suggest hosting events where players can come and try out the game. So basically only let people play for testing purposes only to avoid the downward spiral I mentioned previously. I can already tell this game would be hard to put down.

    The sound first approach to weapon design is really interesting. There is something really appealing about that approach.

    Earned yourself a sub man great vid! I will just say if it’s free to play, don’t go the way of micro transaction after micro transaction

      I could see maybe having the option to buy cosmetics or fast-track unlocking stuff in the game if there are unlockables, but paying for stuff like maps, special characters, or weapons would be too far.

    The amount of work you've done is astounding. Even making your own sounds. I'm a dev too but stick with single player as it's way easier. If I could make one suggestion is to make sure the weapons don't look just cool, but feel great and make sense. I always worry about slime like weapons especially. I think you're onto something, and if you can make a solid branding of something unique but attractive, that all the while feels solid while playing, you'll be a huge success.

    I grew up playing my Dad's Xbox Original and some of my favorite games were Halo CE and Unreal Tournament/championship, i went on to practice Illustration and writing but I always wanted to try doing game development. but a lack of experience in coding and 3d art held me back, but now I'm finally taking the plunge and trying to learn those things. so seeing this and your tutorials is beyond inspirational.

    I loved UT3 i think it was with vehicles capture the flag mods, we plan LAN so much with boys... then though GARENA or Hamachi we always loved UT more than Quake, holding fingers for you ;)

    Game looks sick and reminds me of Unreal Tournament a lot, one of the main arena shooters I played as a kid.
    My only suggestion so far is for your UI, absolutely replace any instance of the default Roboto font that's in Unreal, and change the button/dropdown renderers to get rid of the "image" rendering mode because it's always slightly under-rez for whatever monitor you'll be viewing it on. Both go a LONG way in making the game look less like "Just another Unreal game" and really help to make it stand out in quality, even if it is just the tiniest of touches.

    • @galaxygrudge
      @galaxygrudge  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hey there, thanks for the kind words! Appreciate it. And yeah I totally agree - the UI needs a LOT of work before it feels anywhere close to professional. Sometimes I wish there were more hours in each day so I could spend more time on this sort of stuff. I'd love to get a UMG person onboard to give all the menus a facelift :D

    • @galaxygrudge
      @galaxygrudge  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah we hope to get a good balance for onscreen elements - do you have any examples of games you feel went too far with that sort of thing?

  • @gooficat
    @gooficat Před 2 měsíci +2

    absolute W, arena shooters are way too uncommon nowadays
    do you plan to release for pc primarily, or will it be console-available too? what launcher/store will it be on initially?

    • @galaxygrudge
      @galaxygrudge  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yeah so right now, it's intended for PC on Steam. I don't have any console plans right now, as I just don't have the extra resources currently to cater to more than one development environment.

    If you're taking requests, I'd love a video on networking or sources on where you learned from! Also, did you build this with Lyra?

    • @galaxygrudge
      @galaxygrudge  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I did not use Lyra to build GG, but yeah I'd be more than happy to do a networking video. What kinds of things would you be interested in seeing?

    • @zerohcrows
      @zerohcrows Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@galaxygrudge Aye, thanks for the quick response! Really interested in optimization right now so videos on that would be amazing. Honestly, anything networking related would be great.

    This is cool! I wanna play this! This is so much like unreal and unreal tournament, epic games fucked up their legacy they destroyed what made them great, its time we the gamers greate our own projects to bring the nostalgia back that is missing in todays games! Todays games are boring.. too many battle royales.. all copies.. nothing unique.. no soul
