Eddie needs to be protected at all costs. He is the sole survivor of grunge and still has the most amazing voice. You definitely have a new subscriber here. Can't wait to see what's next.
I would through in another band from Seattle that performs really well on Unplugged..Queensryche. Don't compare to the grunge bands but it's a really solid show.
I was a teen in the late 90s and I would've given a kidney to spend one nite with Eddie Vedder. I have a husband and 2 young kids now but might still consider it. Lol

I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life, I know you’ll be a star, in somebody’s else’s sky, but why, why, why can’t it be, can’t it be in mine. Pure agonizing poetry!
I can appreciate you saying that this is the greatest live performance. I started going to concerts in the '70s and I can say for me this is on the list just not the top. My first time hearing this song was after I returned from Desert Storm in '92. Several friends and I rented a bus and went to Cheetas Gentlemen's Club in Windsor Canada. The first lady that came out and danced played this song to her act. Loved it ever since. While watching this video I didn't get the vibe that your wife was getting into this. Then when she asked to hear the studio version I knew I was wrong. She also liked the lyrics toward the end "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky But why Why Why can't it be Oh can't it be mine" Really cool. Have a great day.
I love it when someone who isn't well versed in pop rock music, or really in a lot of music suddenly starts exploring. Especially later in life. It can off-putting and jarring. This Song lyrics is so Deep and powerful , It describes exactly what It feels like to be heartbroken and rejected which is something hard for our egos to Accept. What a beautiful masterpiece!
New sub, love your reactions! Ok, this is my fav Pearl Jam song. And it was a break up song for me from my first wife when living in Seattle 28 years ago... while Grunge was killing it. So, I'm a musician/drummer and the drums in this live mix are overpowering the guitars. I always struggle to watch this video, yet I always watch it. I have never confessed this. Thanks again

Pearl Jam Porch on MTV Unplugged is arguably better. That said, Black is indeed..............................timeless. Also, the Pink Pop Porch is AMAZING. Truly.
Agreed, the performance of Porch is so much more intense. He builds up to almost an explosion emotionally during that song. It is the best performance of any single song from MTV Unplugged and this is the greatest MTV Unplugged concert. Black is the better song though..
First time watching one of your videos and you've got yourself a new subscriber! This song hits me hard every time I hear it. I'm born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, so I definitely heard this song as well as every other Grunge act that was around in the 90's. Born in 88, by the way. But yeah! That video always gets me worked up, watching it. Seeing Eddie's emotion while he's singing just brings it out in me! Yeah I saw Pearl Jam live in concert. Later that same year I saw Nirvana in concert, back in 1993. They do not have live talented rock bands anymore. It is so sad how the youth are raised on only Hi Hop or Rap now-a-days. And the only live rock style singers that can belt out perfect rocker style vocals without electronic voice help is Courtney Hadwin. She currently is living and recording her new album about 30 minutes from my house. She is fantastic. I hope the song writing matches her ability. Anyways Nirvana in concert was the best concert of my life. I wish I could be back in that time again. 23 years old, and the world was full of magic and hope for the future. Well the future is over populated and all fun out door activities are no longer there. So much fun back then. I was rarely home. Out doing awesome things with friends. Now I am 52 years old. But inside I still feel like that 23 year old who loved life.
Man,, looked thru your videos and so far, you are busting wifey's proverbial balls, right out of the gate. Just an idea. Both of you should start in the late 60s, when electric guitars/music started getting harder, and work thru history's great selection of RNR tunes up thru the early/mid 90s. There are 100s of epic songs and bands to react to. Good luck with the channel!
While I love this song it is hardly indicative of "grunge" music. Most of it was much harder and a mix of punk, metal and very often, angst. A lot of bands hated the Grunge label but it knocked hair metal off the scene and for that I will be forever grateful!🤣 Nice reaction. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Pearl Jam just played a few shows here in So Cal and I was lucky to be at 2 of them. So much fun! And sadly one of the few bands to survive from that era.

But it was also an emotional time for the country so just for context. Ok I admit it, PJ my favorite band. He was it feeling deep. When they were choosing the songs for the album this song "Black" which the lyrics were written by Eddie Vetter and the music was orchestrated by Goslin (the guitar player at the very beginning starting it off) anyways the whole band (Pearl Jam) loved the song and knew how great it was and would be on the album... But they all decided to drop the song off the album and use a different song instead. The interesting thing is the reason why the had decided to drop it even knowing it was probably one if not their best song ever and could make the hit mainstream. They were a band but not well know yet as this was when they were just getting started and known. They decided to drop it because the song was really personal to Eddie and Is a true story that happened in his life. It had hurt him badly loosing this girl he loved, so they didn't want him to have to go thru it and relive it every time he has to sing this song. Sorry so long of a commit, but it is a true story and it's pretty cool that a band trying to break thru to the big times and has the song that will pretty much guarantee their success but decide to throw it out to protect the feelings of a band member.. I agree with you this is one of the top live performances ever this whole thing not just a song. But if you're into this era and you want to see the best live performance ever check out guns and roses they do two songs Paradise City and knocking on heaven's door at the federal Mercury tribute concert in 1992. Play those two back-to-back and let me know what you think? But yeah this is a great song in the whole performance is awesome
You should check out Pink Floyd, Comfortably Numb Pulse live. it's one of the greatest live performances with one of the greatest guitar solos of all time.

You need to show her the MTV Unplugged Alice In Chains--Down in a Hole is really awesome. It’s my favorite mtv unplugged with nirvana a close second and Pearl Jam third.
1992 but yeah the youtube algorithm is pretty interesting rolling things back around, and it's great that it's being rediscovered because it's freaking excellent.
"Artists these days don't have bands, there would be a guy on a keyboard and a guy singin." I think you need to see T-pain tiny desk concert. Any song can be played on instruments lol: EDIT I went and watched the tpain one and it was a keyboard, but a piano keyboard not computer keyboard. Tech N9ne, Anderson .Paak, and Mac Miller had bands behind them on their tiny desk concerts.

Love this song, but I would love for Unplugged to come back. Ppl are quick to shit on today’s musicians, but so many bands would be amazing on here now…Kaleo, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Neon Trees, Chris Stapleton, etc
Vedder announced great as did both guitarists.... My only complaint here is the bass and the drums were too loud. There was a major reason grohl was given those sticks to mute the drums.... They should've maybe did the same
Best unplugged performance up there with Layne! Just based on your comment about bands not playing instruments nowadays, which I agree with for the most part..thankfully not completely true, but u should check out Manchester Orchestra specifically “The Silence” u might have to skip ahead about 1 minute in the video. First half is real stripped down. Great lyrics. Also another great by them is I know how to speak. But that’s acoustic. Check ‘‘em out!
Imagine being Eddies current wife being reminded shes #2 every time she hears this song. I hope somehow thats not the case. Nutshell from AICs mtv unplugged series is another great performance to see and hear.
he wrote the song about a girl in high school supposedly so his current wife would be #3 actually, but third time's the charm right? he also started changing the ending ad lib at some point to be 'we didn't belong together' and other things to indicate the issue is now resolved.
If you are going to go through the grunge bands on MTV Unplugged. I really think you should let her listen to Nirvana - Man Who Sold the World. It's fantastic. Although it is a cover song. Still highlights their talents really well and it isn't the screaming songs that they were known for.

Eddie Veder es el mejor en voz barítono
Su voz es maravillosa
Saludos cordiales desde Barcelona
You should try nirvana´s where did you sleep last night song, nice channel.
Y’all gotta check out Alice In Chains unplugged, it doesn’t get much better
AIC is my favorite band! Stay metal! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Great reaction! Megan gets it, see? Eddie Vedder will break some hearts out there, especially with "Black". Also, check out "State of Love & Trust" from PJ, Unplugged! Great rocker! Hey, you guys should check out some Rush! A great song to introduce Megan to would be "Limelight" (official video)!
You need to show her the MTV Unplugged Alice In Chains--Down in a Hole is really awesome. It’s my favorite mtv unplugged with nirvana a close second and Pearl Jam third.
Didn't know pearl Jam?. Wow
Acoustic version is so much better than the studio version
This concert is from 1991 and recently some people discovered it🤣
1992 but yeah the youtube algorithm is pretty interesting rolling things back around, and it's great that it's being rediscovered because it's freaking excellent.
@@leinonibishop9480 you're right! 1992😀 TEN is from 1991.
I miss mtv
I do too 😣 stay metal! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@spousereacts5720 metal for life🤘🤘 also I'm not sure how heavy you go but If you haven't heard Lorna shores of the abyss I'd recommend it if you enjoy super heavy stuff, don't have to react if you don't want too but just giving out some good stuff
Eddie = GOAT
Ode to Eddie ❤
If you are going to go through the grunge bands on MTV Unplugged. I really think you should let her listen to Nirvana - Man Who Sold the World. It's fantastic. Although it is a cover song. Still highlights their talents really well and it isn't the screaming songs that they were known for.
