One of the best Unplugged sessions that was ever recorded
@@1Molehill no he did need to be that pushy, because he is completely wrong. AIC and Nirvana and then all of the rest can fight for all the spots.
This and the Alice in Chains unplugged. Though I think, Sludge Factory song, Layne didn't make it all the way through
"Its not what was said but how it was said" - 10 words to describe an era. You get it.
One of the best live performances by a band- one of the classics. Kurt Cobain has been called the voice of my generation, but I was always in Camp Pearl Jam.
Thank you so much!! I almost had distain for nirvana cause people compared them And they were so hyped. When Pearl Jam is and always will be the greatest
Yeah, he missed a lyric, but you saw him immediately shake his head, acknowledging it. I still love this performance.
that song is the best song from a brokean heart in history of rock!
Absolutely my favorite live performances I've ever watched, it's a masterpiece to me. His passion.....dang
Pearl Jam Pinkpop 1992. Somewhere there in the crowd... I will never forget.
@@joeljackling2262 15 meters from the stage. Then on the left. We saw him climb into the podium. Some kind of scaffolding for the camera. It was an unrivaled performance. Everyone went wild at 'Black'. Awesome!!!

When will you switch to the metric system?😁😂🤣😇
My heart tightens/tenses and aches to the point I want to cry everytime I hear him add on the "we belong together" part, just feeling the pain he was going through at the time of writing the song. And that was only emotions through lyrics, imagine being in that darkness he was talking about.
Also their lead guitar player Mike has heavy blues influence. His solos are all blues scales playing SRV/Hendrix type lines. That in combination with Eddie vocals give Pearl Jam a nice bluesy undertone.
Eddie still sounds just as good.
Eddy was battling the flu that day. Amazing performance while ill. Seattle grunge kicks azz
That's probably why his voice sounds like it is right on the verge of cracking, and goes there and stays with it, which makes it sound so cool. I just wonder if he knew as he was doing it how really great it was, since he had to have some kind of monitor to hear himself. If watched vocalist sing totally our of key because they can't hear themselves well enough.
Pearl Jam Black song :
“ I know someday you'll have a beautiful life
I know you'll be a star
In somebody else's sky
But why
Why
Why can't it be
Oh can't it be mine”
✏️Flipping poetry right there ✏️
one of the most beautiful, amazing, songs put together Pearl Jam OMG!!
You're right, with Eddie it's all about the emotion.... However, a few years back, while looking into Chris Cornell's vocal range etc.,..... I found out that Eddie actually has a 5 octave range (Chris had 4) I found that fascinating!! Don't get me wrong, I love Chris' voice too (who wouldn't!), but Ed's voice is just so rich(for lack of better words). Thanks and great reaction!
💕👍👍👍👍 Thanks for this. Most people don't know. Chris was amazing in his ability to switch registers. I adore his music but am more fascinated by Eddie. Chris even said in reference to Eddie "there's something about that voice."
Eddie is amazing...as was Chris...but for me, no one can ever top Layne. 💘
Have you watched the clip where Eddie performed this song a couple months after Chris Cornell passed away? It was just him, an acoustic, and audience participation. When he's singing the last part, Eddie goes "come back, come back," then breaks into a sob. Breathtaking yet heartbreaking.
One of the best live bands ever!!
Having lived through the grunge era, it was all emotion in beast mode and uninhibited. Eddie amongst a handful of other frontmen definitely personify that era. ❤
Enjoy your reactions! Remember listening to the whole Pearl Jam MTV Unplugged on my cassette player when I was in college in 1992. Taped the audio from the TV because that's how you had to do it way back then. Lol.
I remember those days making dubs anyway we could on cassette and be grateful to be able to listen to songs whenever we wanted regardless of quality. They got it easy today. I remember hearing a song on the radio and running to my tape deck to throw a blank in and record it....missing the beginning but still happy to have most of the song. Miss those days.
@@andrewdods2236 old skool is still skool! I have VHS tapes and god knows how many dead tapes (cassettes, what else) in the house. Music is a must. Let it consume you and you will not be sorry
@@darinhill3773 I know right, me too. I have Cassette tapes, Vinyl, CD's, VHS tapes, DVD etc.
I was senior. Omg ! This was my guy. Along with Axl. Hot like the way he's thrusting don't you?
If I recall the story, they had just gotten back that day or the day before from a European tour and had to borrow instruments cause theirs hadn’t arrived yet. Eddie might’ve had a cold, but I need to find where I read that. Regardless, I’ve been listening to this show and especially this song since the day it came out and it still send chills up and down my spine. It’s perfect in every way - even the mistakes.
When eddie sings the “I took a walk outside, I’m surrounded by some kids that play” part it gets me every time. It’s waaaay better than the recorded version and shows some pretty damn good range. Haven’t heard him do it like that since the early 90s. It’s amazing. Man was blessed with golden pipes.
I heard, from another CZcams commenter, that he was just getting over laryngitis and wasn't sure if he'd be able to perform. So, not a definitive source.
Just watched him last night at the LA Vac show. He still sounds this great. He did a vamped up version of Corduroy and I Am A Patriot. Hard to believe with his age that he still has that beautiful voice. I have loved him since 1991. Ten released 3 days after my 18th bday.
There is no one like him; I was 19, when Ten released, still one of my favourite albums.
I’ve heard him live a lot and the Unplugged is by far his best vocal performance. But if there are other live videos I would love to hear them.
The first time I heard this song, the raw emotion blew me away! It’s one of my absolute favorites♥️
He's different that's for sure glad you enjoy it thanks
Eddie had a horrible cold at the time. I never noticed the cold in his voice, his power was obvious to all.
Can’t wait to see Pearl Jam live 2022 in Copenhagen 🤘🤘😎 In 1996 was my frist I Saw Them played live ar Spartan Center in California San José
Your right it all about passion he was suffering from a cold that day too love your reactions keep rocking cant wait for next vid
Eddie turns the word mine into a firework going up and exploding at the end.
I’d like to see you react to oceans from unplugged. Eddie really nails the high notes in that one.
I love how you don't stop the video every minute and listen. New subscriber.
The most beautyful male voice on earth
I'm not the biggest PJ fan but Eddie is one of the best front men ever
I'm the same age as Eddie and I will keep going back to this one performance because it is the BEST!!!! Eddie is one of a kind and it did not hurt how GORGEOUS he is here!!!!
Greatest male vocalist of all time...wow
@@joshn3448 disagree..love Chris but he’s #2 idk Layne. But it’s cool you appreciate him enough to be #3 I just love his voice soooo much
@@joshn3448 he has a five octave vocal range over Chris’s four octaves and is just technically a better singer than layne
@@joshn3448 Maybe behind Layne. Not Cornell. I like Chris but his voice is not better than Eddie Vedder's.
Nothing tops Vedderisms ❤️🎶
He met Nusrat after. They did 2 songs together
Your so right on!! I love Eddie's beautiful voice and what a great performance by Pearl Jam ❤️🤘 Black 🖤 is one of my favorite song of all time!!
Raw emotions... epic lyrics...
Just kinna kicks your Ess right! Saw them with The Rolling Stones outside at Oakland Coliseum with 60 mph wind and downpouring rain, WHAT A SHOW!!!!
Hi Missy, this Is how he sounds 13 years later with the same song!
Eddie was sick that day and just refused to cancel unplugged.
How many times i read this on multiple reactions of different bands. Seems like all singers are always sick ....yeah sure. When popular singers are sick, they cancel everything..just because they can.
I Being a GenXr, an truly growing up with all the greats was a gift for my life. Perfectly at the right age during all these new bands was so impressionable.
There are literally 30 of these videos of this song and yours is absolutely the best sounding one.Its loud first of all and clear.Great video. Then I heard you mention Mike Patton! Was a quick subscribe Mr. Bungle is such an under appreciated band.
Totally agreed with The Grunge Comment!
I'm gonna see them tomorrow and I'm So Super Hyped!!!!!!!!!!!
And You're Right, He's Unique!!!! I always say that, I've heard a lot of singers in my life and I can't find another singer who puts that kind of emotions, yup, like you said, raw emotions into the songs! Amazing!!!!
Good reaction!
pretty good considering Eddie was recovering from a cold
God i wish back in the 90's i would have went and so then. I was a huge fan then but i did not realize that i was missing probably of the most awesome music of my time!
I can’t handle fake & that’s why I think this performance touches my soul so deeply❣️😱🥲🥰🖤
Thanks for sharing MM. Really enjoyed your reaction and overview. Appreciate your hard work, insight, talent, and personal touch.
All about what you want to say emotionally
Eddie is beautiful 🤩
The sad thing is Eddie is the last of the Grunge vocalists. Now that Chris is gone.
RIP all my grunge heroes 😢
We only have Eddie, Mike, Zack, and Anthony left now from that era.
I know Jane's Addiction is an LA band. Still Perry Ferrell always felt like a grudge guy to me. He was part of that scene and is still around.
This was done the same day Mariah Carey and Boyz 2 Men did their Unpluggeds. They shot it at midnight. Eddie also had a cold
Oh that whole show was good. Liked
I think any commentary/comments should simply be, how the F* can I do this❤️ And I pray if I can't, I pray someone can, so we all have this imprinted on our souls. It's my gen. If you only knew🤘❤️ We have gifted you the music. Sparing you the origins.. bless
This is a pertty song 💪
Your great ! .... Think you've got the delivery spot on for vocal prioritised reaction ... Nice work !✌️🇬🇧
You're absolutely right about Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan being an influence, but this performance was years before the met
Anyone else watching sit there like. You think he's putting emotion in a min. in?... just wait it gets better!!!
Amazing Eddie Veeder ❤😂
I like PJ,singular voice, different 👏👏💯💯💖👍
I love Pearl Jam! Thanks for doing this. They are great live, too. I get the tight jaw thing, I kind of joked about it too. But their lyrics and feeling and sound are always so good! I saw them in concert in Seattle, WA in 1997. They were playing in a venue down the street from HANSON (MMMM BOP!). It was funny to see the teeny-boppers in the same area as the Pearl Jam stoner/ grungy fans. Quite the comparison!
Have you ever reacted to Twenty One Pilots? They are great live, as well. There are a lot of concert videos (Live at the Fox Theater are the best ones). To get the live, unplugged-ish vibe you could listen to the Tyler Joseph (stripped-down versions of Twenty One Pilots Songs) Brooklyn Sessions, or the BBC1 sessions. A couple of songs are just him and the piano, some with other accouterments. There is also a "Can't Help Falling in Love with You" Elvis cover of Tyler and his Ukelele.
You are fun to watch! Have a great weekend!
You are great! Just found you!!
I honestly would be perfectly happy if this was the only performance I heard when music was playing around me for the rest of my days.
Eddie vedder ❣😍
Now wasn't that a memorable little ditty. What an evening to have the cameras rolling because he will never preform that song any better if he sings it 10,000 times.
Eddie had a cold that day
Epic
Simply red holding back the years Chris Issach wicked game
First time I heard
Chris Issac - Wicked Game
was on one of those live cam shows, when I was like 12 🤭
Not that I am a good singer, but I tried to sing this and it is just impossible to come anywhere close to what Eddie is doing. Maybe some people will think it is not perfect technically, but no-one can really sing like that and it is a testament as to how difficult it is. One of the most difficult singer to replicate.
You should do the live tribute of Black to Chris Cornell.
Wish someone would finally do a reaction vid for pearl Jam- crazy mary, or their song immortality. How awesome would that be???
You should check out Leo Moracchioli and Violet Orlandi doing a metal cover of Roxette's " Listen To Your Heart". It's AWESOME!
I think you need to react to The HU from Mongolia Yuve Yuve Yu/ Wolf Totem/ This Is The Mongol/ Sugaan Essena/ Sad But True this band is unlike anything you have ever heard and totally Epic.
The face of love - eddie and nushrat fateh ali khan
Plus…he’s so hot!
If you haven’t already, you should react to Chris Cornell’s version of “Nothing Comapares 2 U”
@@morethanjustavocalcoach Hi I just come across your channel and find it interesting so I’m going to keep an eye on you and see what else you release. I’m a huge Chris Cornell fan and hope to see your reaction to his style and range that he can reach
How about Van Halen’s “Not Enough”? I think that it would be a good one for a pro like you to evaluate. It’s one of their slower songs. Lots of piano. Please do that one.
Any Pantera song...but I suggest cemetary gates
Eddie was very sick during this performance you can hear it a lot of congestion....he does give a lot in his perfomances but brocitis affects your sinuses and lungs and he shows large amounts of control here being sick...great reaction❤
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice amps ❤
SIDE POINT: How many cats do you currently have and yes that counts all the outside cats you feed??
Eddie is awesome. Dave Matthews is good as him.
Need to listen to anything Chris Cornell
I’ll forever wish he hadn’t messed up the lyrics but this remains my fave performance by anyone ever
I noticed it for sure but I literally couldn’t care less. This man isn’t just a vocalist. He’s an artist 🙌🏻
@@thehighpriestess8431 he is and I love that about him but it always messes me up when I’m singing along lol
They do have new stuff out check some out
Vocal treat yourself to , I am the fire by Halestorm .🎤🎵🔥🎵🦈💨
You are so right about the being tired after touring. I'm the same age as these guys and I love the grunge bands and one of my favorites is also Chris Cornell and I saw soundgarden 3 shows into a tour and the 2nd to last and he sings with emotion also and he didn't sound the greatest the latter show.Don't get me wrong he was still better than 90%of singers but for him it was lacking.
You don't hear this kind of stuff anymore because auto tune has infested the music industry, all categories, not just lazy mumble rappers who write music at an 8th grade level and refer to lyrics "BARS".
You need to listen to hunger strike Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder
Check out Corey Taylor - Snuff 🤘
Church choir will help, the bathroom back upstairs
The playback of this song on your channel sounds different than any other time I've heard it. Here in your video, it sounds a more hollow, tinny and echoey. Why is that? Am i making that up?
Speaking of Nusrat…. Have you ever done a Jeff Buckley reaction video? That’d be great to watch!
I believe Eddie had a bad chest cold also
Hey I can sing like that but I have no one . to back me . I can I promise....I can do it ..
Lets not forget that he's pulling this off SITTING DOWN!!
