someone in your chat got it wrong, partly. The song was originally written about his ex, and Paul Grey, the bassist of Slipknot pushed him to go forward with the song, and years later Paul died. Now the song has a double meaning due to the loss of his best friend and bassist.

Quote from Corey Taylor in 2008: "it's about someone who helped me through a lot and I thought she felt the same way that I did and then she really let me down. At the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory." This is an emotional song for Corey because he uses it as a tribute to former Slipknot bassist Paul Gray, who died shortly after the song was released.

Based on my experience it can also be seen as you take the love to weight out the hate and rage. You can be in a toxic relationship and a common theme is "He/she isn't that bad all the time.. we have good moments as well." and you close yourself inside a box to justify why you still cling on to the relationship. The rage isn't always outspoken but can also be kept inside your own body.
It's a real sad piece and the fact that Paul Grey helped him to get out of the relationship (and that I haven't read anything about abusement) I think that it were based on this and Corey Taylor kept so much rage, hate and sadness inside of him all the time.
Been there, done that, got out and learnd from it... now happy and stable in a good relationship and can't even understand how I ever got into the bad relationship I had before.

I love what you do with lyric videos, but I think you can really understand metal music and fans through watching a live performance. I think some good examples would be Slipknot's Spit It Out in Download '09, Korn's Blind in Woodstock '99 or any video from Pantera/Metallica from Moscow in '91. I think I've found my new favorite reaction channel. I like your dynamic of one person being more analytical and the other having more 'feeling it' approach.
I've listened to your 'The Pot' reaction first and instantly decided to dig through your channel for more - and I was so happy to find first 'Mr. Brightside' and than 'Snuff' reaction. This is are kind of important songs to me as they help me process my emotions of getting out from the relationship that was not meant to be.
And I love that you've figured out this 'I love you - I hate you' dynamic. It is very relatable and painful to me, as made 'terminating' my relationship so much longer that it should be (like 2-3 years of 4 years relationship) and I still am not sure if this is over. For me, there is also important transition from sadness and self pity, through hatred of oneself and than blaming the other. And I feel that all this stages are viable as it is possible to both sides to be toxic to each other and it is hard to pin the blame to one person.
And now, I was scrolling through my 'Breakup' list to see if there is anything I wish you'd react to. And there are some great (IMO) breakup songs, but instead I think I'd like to see some reactions to under represented artists like Archive ('Again', 'Hatched', 'End of our days') or Vast ('Touched', 'Don't take your love away', 'I didn't want to hurt you')

In fact, this is a Slipknot song and yes, Corey is their guy behind the rubber mask ;) For him this song has a very emotional meaning since their bassist and friend Paul Gray died.

“Love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage” my meaning of this is when you love someone it hurts twice as much as when you lose them from a passing. And you you love them so much but it hurts and you rage at the fact they are gone

So I took the “Love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again” as in, he’s taken on all her worry, all her stress and regurgitates love back to her. If you listen to the previous lines he says “Bury all your secrets in my skin, come away with innocence, and leave me with my sins”. He feels feels rage due to unhealthy (or dark) thoughts forged in his own head, as well as what she trusts him with, but he expresses love instead of rage. Similar to “Fire Away” by Chris Stapleton.

The best thing about Corey Taylor's voice is that it's powerful enough that in the regular song it's still shines through all the music. Both this version and the regular version are amazing songs.

So dope that you guys checked this out after the Slipknot video. This song is one of my favorite songs of all time that I put on from time to time. I want to throw a random suggestion that might not be your cup of tea because you are both so great with the intricate lyrical breakdowns but for musicality alone. Ever heard of loopstation? MB14 vs Saro loopstation battle, or any Saro loopstation really. It is to me one of the craziest things I've seen musically even though it's so not what you guys normally do. Just throwing it out there, and there's a big loopstation community of reaction watchers. Just throwing it out there, cheers for all the entertainment.

Brad and Lex, this song is about a relationship he had that really hurt him. He poured his heart, soul and everything he had into this song and made something so heartfelt and chilling but so beautiful.

I started watching you guys for Tom MacDonald reactions, I'm 41 and grew up with metal. So love seeing how much Lex is getting into the music I grew up with. Got me listening to all my old tunes again. Love seeing the passion. Corey Taylor did an amazing track called "Thru Glass" and an awesome cover of "Wicked Game". May I recommend giving the Artists "Pearl Jam", and "Audioslave" (Singer from "Soundgarden", Music from "Rage Against The Machine"). Thank you so much for getting me to enjoy the Vibes again. Much love from a HOG fan. :~)

I enjoy your reactions and comments. You give thoughtful, intelligent interpretations of the song lyrics…you’re not always right because it’s difficult to interpret someone else’s thoughts…but you’re generally pretty close.
I really like seeing how Lex is really becoming a fan of heavy metal/rock music. People who discount or hate rock don’t know how deep and insightful the lyrics are. They just hear the loud music and screaming voices. For me, the instrumentation is what I love about rock/metal music. I could listen to someone shredding on an electric guitar all night, with no singing, and be perfectly content. But add great lyrics and there are some true masterpieces in the rock genre.

I just found you two, and I have to say you two are beautiful. You're very aware of the emotions of the music you react to. How you only have 41.8k subs, I have no clue. Keep them coming, please. Side note. Look up the CZcams video of his therapy session. I don't remember the channel name, but it's some old black dude. It helps to put this song into perspective. I just watched it a few weeks ago. I had no clue as to the depth of that man. It's definitely worth the watch.

It's about being abandonment. It's about people leaving you. It's about people leaving you when you need them most. It's a song of hurt. It's a song about the pain of someone leaving you physically or mentally. It's a song of pain.
