    I had to use vise grips and a steak knife to saw off the old nut. And then I DID IT! I installed my Korky! It works perfectly! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You saved me from calling a plumber. I just had to think about how to get the old part off because a hacksaw would not fit in the space, but an old steak knife did. Don't worry, I was careful. LOL. You are amazing and thanks for this video!

      A steak knife...you're an animal!! I'm surprised by the # of ladies watching these types of videos, but when I give it a second thought, it makes sense. I'm also surprised/impressed that you know what vise grips are. Does my lovely wife know all of this stuff as well, & simply feigns inability, knowing full well it'll trigger my white-knight hard wiring so that I'll take care of all of this culturally masculine stuff? Or does she pretend she can't do this stuff in order to feed my ego? You're not going to tell me, are you?

    I had an old fill valve that didn't want to "regulate" the final water level in the tank accurately, so I decided to try the Korky. I'm now "sold" on this brand. Easier to install and adjust than the other brands.

    Well done video! Thank you!
    I wish I had watched this BEFORE installing my Korky repair kit. The instructions with the Korky were overall very good as instructions go (nowadays); butI had some leakage at the end of my install. Turns out I had not gotten the tank LEVEL; left to right or front to back and had possibly overtightened the bolts. So basically, I started over, used a level, did not tighten the bottom bolts too tightly, and now have a dry toilet (at least for today). I do have a portable water leak detector I put under the toilet that will tell me if there is any leakage.
    I hope you do not mind if I share something with you. On one other video I saw today, the man doing it was a certified plumber. He used a small amount of plumbers putty beneath the rubber washer that goes inside the tank. On the outside of the tank, he used another rubber washer, then a metal washer, and then the nut. He snugly tightened them. THEN he place the tank onto the bowl, and then used one more rubber washer, then a metal washer and finally a WING NUT that you just tighten by hand, no tools so it is hard to over-tighten it.
    Between his video and yours, I do not need to look at anything else!!!! I am now a "pro" toilet repair kit installer! LOL!! If I experience any leakage in the near future, I"ll head to the hardware store to pick up the spare rubber and metal washers plus a couple of wing nuts and do it like a pro plumber would.

    Hi, I had this fill valve installed only a few months ago and it's been fine. But the past week or so, what happens after it's flushed, you can hear a hissing sound like water is building up inside the tank and then it will shut off. It has something to do with the water level at that little window, I think. But I don't know if it means it's getting too much or too little water. Could you by any chance suggest what I might try to fix this so I don't have to get the plumber back out here? Sure would appreciate it. Thanks!

    • @5MinuteFixit

      There maybe some water leaking past the flapper valve causing the full valve to periodically be triggered to fill the tank again.

    I just installed my second kit they last bout 10 years though can't understand why after all the different adjustments I made on this kit why the water fills up to normal height in water bowl but just as the valve shuts off the water goes down in the bowl bout inch or so, only thing I did with this new kit is installed a 3" flapper by korkys not sure if that has anything to do with it?

    • @5MinuteFixit
      @5MinuteFixit  Před rokem

      I don't think the flapper would be causing this...that's kind of a mystery as to why it would be doing that.

      @@5MinuteFixit thx a bunch you were correct it did fit it installed easily the only issue I ended up with is a tiny bit of leak underneath not enough to drip even so I'm thinking the plumbers putty or other stuff around the treads will do the trick? After sitting awhile it stayed dry today but it was definitely damp right after so I don't want to take a chance on a long weekend and come home to a mess. Ty again!
