Yes I'm glad he wanted to pursue his channel even in a different direction. I think whatever topics he chooses it will be good and interesting to watch, because the talent is not in the topic, but in himself. It really reminds me of SEA channel who also started making videos about a video game and then transformed his channel to content about astronomy and physics and is one of the best. I see bright a future for MadSeason ahead.
Except it didn't work. 100k views after 3 months with his actual WoW videos doing millions of views in weeks. This channel is dead now because of the direction flip.
MadSeason! You never stop to amaze me with your videos. First a 2 hour World of Warcraft video and now this one. Two highly edited and well made documentaries about the reality about both WoW and Social Media. Love your videos, can't wait for the next one. Keep it up :D

this is a pretty powerful video essay, really defines an era we've entered into
To add to Hana Kimura, the incident was started because a guy washed her prized Wrestling Outfit (which was her livelyhood/identity) permanently ruining it and she gave him a nasty tongue lashing. Fans deemed she was just too much a bitch getting so volatile over "just clothing" and attacked her online en masse.
After she unalived herself, then guy she yelled at told everyone that the producers kept encouraging behavior/events that would make for better TV that a lot of people were uncomfortable. She was bullied to death because of a scripted or partially scripted reality TV and gullible hateful fans. Super hardcore fandoms can get real disgusting.
The show until that moment was extremely popular for how real it felt which is why people believed the event to be so strongly real. The show fell hard when the truth was revealed and it was just like every other reality TV show.
The monitors create such a unique vibe for these videos!

I honestly love your style in doing these essays. The visuals are so perfect in inspiring emotion without words but instead chopped up old videos and music like how punk rock cut up magazines to make their own posters. Brilliant my guy brilliant.

I've binged your WoW content for about 4-5 years I think... Easily became my go-to channel to relax while watching content about my fav universe, and it was sad that you'd move on from the game. But this new format? Oh boy. There's just something about your voice that's so... captivating? I dunno how to explain this, really. But the important topics you bring up along with the way you narrate everything is just magic at this point. I knew I'd stick around even if you dropped WoW oriented series, and I'm glad I did. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for making this. It's a fascinating subject, in increasingly scary ways unfortunately. Many of the subjects mentioned rarely seem to be talked about and its good to shine a light on all the processes that occur behind the scenes in a way. I know not what the answer is in regards to a balance between parasocial relationships and entertainment, all I know is that it frightens me and has certainly helped curb the ambition I once had of wanting to be involved in making more online content. Im glad to see it hasnt stopped you from making videos that you want to make.

I wanted to thank you for making a video like this. It just completely baffles my mind as to why people want to be so terrible to others and actually act it out. You could potentially be helping someone commit suicide and I cannot understand how people are ok with that. It takes so much more energy to think up of something to be so incredibly terrible to someone than the energy it would take to be a decent human being and not day or do anything at all. People are just terrible.
