Iron Maiden definitely did it better than Cradle Of Filth. Machine Head covered it as well. At every Maiden show there's often a 20 foot Eddie walking around. You'll end up landing on a reaction at some point with Eddie.
The one time I saw Maiden, Eddie came on stage to "terrorize" the band. Once Bruce had enough of it, he thrust his hand into Eddie's chest and pulled put the demon's cold heart and held it high for the crowd to see, leaving the mummified corpse dead on the stage
Could leave the machinehead version behind but I've loved the cof version for 20 years. Maiden rule but there's some quality covers out there- Arch Enemy's version of Ace's High comes to mind.

I saw my 1st Iron Maiden show last Monday (10-3-22] in Sioux Falls, South Dakota 🤘🏼 And they Kicked Ass!! Eddie came out on there 1st song. Looking like a Samurai. & Eddie came back out towards the end in his British uniform 🤘🏼 & this song they played also. For guys that's been around 47+ yrs. They still run around like there 20. One of the BEST shows I've ever witnessed 🔥🔥❤❤😎🤘🏼❤❤🔥🔥
Machine Head did a version of this song for the Maiden Heaven - A Tribute to Iron Maiden album. It also appears on Machine Heads The Blackening B-sides and Rarities disc.
I count myself very lucky when I was growing up in Somerset to go cub scouts with the drummer Nico's son. Not only a great musician but an absolutely great funny guy.
You will only ever hear this said about Maiden but when it comes to their live videos, the newer the better. Those guys are freaks of nature and only get better as they get older. Watch them play this same song almost 40 years later, they absolutely slay it.
Still hoping to see you guys do 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner' at some point. And yes, Live is definitely better. I think the "Rock in Reo" concert has the best version of 'Rime.'
Eddie comes out on The Trooper and sword fights with Bruce Dickenson. The group is the NWOBHM and the Big 4 was Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Motörhead.
Maiden all day long !! Saw them live last year they are phenomenal live full of energy and gifts Eddie does come on stage he’s like 12 foot tall and he comes out during a couple songs. Go watch a full live concert you’ll be amazed. And when you see the fans out in the crowd they go from teenagers to 60+ year olds all rocking out. The guitarist wearing the referee shirt always find somewhere to play soccer before the game when I saw him in Worcester mass he played a pick up soccer game with the local soccer team so that’s probably why he has that shirt on
I just saw them in Chicago on October 5th. My 6th time seeing them live. They are still incredible, even in their 60s. Bruce Dickinson brings such showmanship to the stage. Yes, the do have 2 different Eddies that come out on stage. They are already planning their tour for next year, you guys should go. Nearly 2 hours and it seems like minutes.
Eddie shows up during The Trooper during live performances. Just seen them in Columbus last week, and was treated to two appearances of Eddie on stage. Go to one of their shows now, they are just as good. Worth the time and money GO GO GO.
It is great to see people get into this song for the first time. I know I did when I saw "The Number of the Beast" tour 40 years ago. This song never gets old and is still my all-time favorite Maiden song.
You're right. Saw them twice on this tour once in Corpus Christi and the other in Houston. They opened for Scorpions but the Houston show they also had Girlschool for the first band. Both shows were amazing. In the Piece of Mind tour program it has a pic of them standing in front of a Naval plane with Corpus Christi written on the tail.
IRON MAIDEN!!! I grew up with maiden. Saw them in Lubbock Texas for the 'World Slavey Tour' spring of 84'. I wore a blue jean jacket with studs and spikes on the waist wrists and shoulders and a serious mullet LOL
This is one of my favorites from Maiden. I can listen to it over and over. Bruce Dickerson can sing. I've seen Iron Maiden live a few times. Always fantastic. This song I saw live when it came out . This tour was fantastic. Maiden hands down is the best. 😊
Just saw Iron Maiden on 9 Oct here in Detroit at Little Ceaser's Arena, what a bad ass concert!! The band sounded great they didn't speed their songs up like a lot of bands do live and Bruce sounded fantastic, the stage show was freaking awesome!!
Every once in awhile you come across a GREAT bassist. Once a decade you see an EPIC bassist. Once in a life time your hear a LEGENDARY bassist. Then,....there is THE bass GOD.....Steve Harris! Up The Irons!! Amazing how you get through this video and NO mention of the killer driving bass that this song is riding on.
That was "early Eddie", and they didn't start ramping up his stage presence until shortly after this. Eddie does go nuts at times, and Bruce goes right with it.
💕🤘🏼✨Oh man, takin me back again…jr high memories…when you had to camp out in line to get the good seats, ticket stubs…partying with all the other fans…doodling our favorite band names all over the Pee Chee notebooks we had for school… For us we called it acid rock, it was Black Sabbath /Ozzy and Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Van Halen… i’ll admit I was way too young to appreciate what these guys were doing, it was more about fitting in…it wasn’t until I got much older that I really really appreciated the talent of these bands, It was bands like Metallica and Pantera and Mötley Crüe that really spoke to me when they started coming out with heavy heavy metal that was my jam! A bit off topic but, Have you guys done Janes Addiction?? I’d love to see you react to PIGS IN ZEN and SLOW DIVERS, whether they’re going hard or soft they have this magical way of transporting you there that’s really cool.✌💚😎 Something you guys said or did made me think to tell you about these songs hope you get a chance to check them out.
One thing that makes iron maiden so great is that he only used one pedal on the kick drum, when most other metal drummers used two pedals for the kick drum.
On your list of 4 OG Metal artists, I would say the one your missing is Ronnie James Dio. And yes, I was a 17 years old front and center at one of Iron Maiden's concerts in 1982. 🤘😁🤘
The inspiration behind this classic maiden is from a British prog rock band called Beckett and a song called life's shadow. Only one band comes close to a cover of Hallowed and that is Machine Head
I saw Maiden in 2011 and I can't help but agree with the man walking past while i was taking a leak when he said "Hallowed is the greatest song ever written." 🤘

Iron Maiden have a version of Eddie in every concert. Depending on which album/song it is - for example Eddie is a samurai on their new album so his puppet in the concert is this! He usually comes out usually later during the song 'Iron Maiden'

They have several Eddie’s giants & robotic that are amazing. Saw them in 85. Best show I’ve ever seen. LEGENDS 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That's cool. I didn't know somebody covered this song. I can't imagine anybody but iron maiden doing this song but I'm sure cradle did a good job.
Iced Earth has a far superior cover on their Tribute to the Gods album, also.
Machine Head did a version of this song for the Maiden Heaven - A Tribute to Iron Maiden album. It also appears on Machine Heads The Blackening B-sides and Rarities disc.
Just saw this live two weeks ago. Freaking awesome 🤘
No way anyone could ever do Iron Maiden better than Iron Maiden.
Clive Burr, beast on the drums, sadly so underrated. RIP!
You can never out do the original of Iron Maiden. Cradle did it justice for metal heads but Maiden is all about Power Metal 🤘😎🤘
I remember the iron maiden meme with Justin Bieber. Justin standing infront of a Ferrari and the Bruce standing in front of his plan "Bit$h please"
This is a Top5 fave hard rock tune of all time.. Maiden no question.
Just saw Iron Maiden on 9 Oct here in Detroit at Little Ceaser's Arena, what a bad ass concert!! The band sounded great they didn't speed their songs up like a lot of bands do live and Bruce sounded fantastic, the stage show was freaking awesome!!
Cradle of Filth did the song justice for their genre. Yet, in the words of Marvin Gaye, ain't nothing like the real thing baby!
Just saw them at the beginning of October, they still put on an amazing show.
Yep he is a beast and yet not many mention him bass God
Hallowed be thy Name is my #3 Maiden song of all time 🤘
UP THE IRONS!!!
That was "early Eddie", and they didn't start ramping up his stage presence until shortly after this. Eddie does go nuts at times, and Bruce goes right with it.
maiden been my favorite band since i was 4 seeing them for the 20th time next Friday front row cant wait
So rainbow? Or just Dio by himself
The inspiration behind this classic maiden is from a British prog rock band called Beckett and a song called life's shadow.
Only one band comes close to a cover of Hallowed and that is Machine Head
Saw Iron Maiden a few weeks ago in concord California. Still kicking ass
I saw Maiden in 2011 and I can't help but agree with the man walking past while i was taking a leak when he said "Hallowed is the greatest song ever written." 🤘
still sounds the best 40 years on
UP THE IRONS!!!! Eddie is always on stage during a show!!! Seen them 4 times, first show was in 1984….praying I get 1 more before my days are done!!! 🤘🤘🔥🔥
Iron Maiden have a version of Eddie in every concert. Depending on which album/song it is - for example Eddie is a samurai on their new album so his puppet in the concert is this! He usually comes out usually later during the song 'Iron Maiden'
It is Iron Maiden what more need be said !
Machine head also do a cover of this. They smash it
I was a full fledged 80's Head Banger. Mainly the BIG 4: Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer. But, there were so many others too; The Iron Maidens, AC/DCs, Ozzy, and so on... I lived it, still the best part of my teens, since I was born in 1971!
The big 4 of trash metal
'You don't even have a guitar!' Dudes, it's called Air Guitar, and it's a noble tradition going back decades. Check out this year's Air Guitar World Championship in Finland czcams.com/video/otne940ofxQ/video.html
Oh, and Iron Maiden are still together and touring. They're old now, but just as good as ever. They never, ever play a bad show, they always give their best. I was at a Maiden gig in Glasgow, Scotland where the power went out halfway through a song. The moment the power came back, they restarted the song and gave it their all.
In addition to being the lead singer, Bruce Dickenson is also licensed to fly Commercial Airliners. He fly's the bands jet to all the gigs. He wears a proper Pilots uniform.
