    Let’s ask the professors if they would take a pay cut to make tuition cheaper.

    • @PayNoTax-GetNoVote
      @PayNoTax-GetNoVote Před 4 lety +348

      Ask them, since professors get pensions and most people don't anymore, if they would be willing to pay 10% more in taxes to help pay the tuitions. Of course, AFTER you bait them in on the "should we forgive student loan questions". The few that say yes will be liars OR set up a "petition" sheet calling all professors @ said university to donate "X"% of their paycheck IN PERPETUITY to a faculty funded scholarship program. Then ask what % you can put them down for RIGHT NOW.

You can say that is the kids fault for being naive, but who is responsible for educating these kids. The very same government that is taking advantage of them. It is the government schools that have failed to teach them about personal finance. It is the government schools that has counseled them to take out these loans with their high school "guidance counselors". The predator is in charge of the whole process. From a friend working in hospital debt collection: We will always go harder after those who have a proven record of paying their bill than those who do not because we have to get the money from somewhere and since those people have already paid before we know they are more likely to pay again. This is why if you have paid your hospital bill in the past we will call more, send more mail and eventually be more likely to send the debt to an outside collection agency. We are less willing to work with those previous payers and more willing to work with the ones who never pay because anything we get from them is more than we expected anyhow.
    That's paraphrasing, and probably does not represent all hospitals, but it seems like the same kind of mentality as this student loan debt situation to me.

That change put more money into the "system" and colleges responded by raising tuitions. Then instructors and admin personnel began demanding salary increases -- and the vicious cycle was born. The easier the gov't makes college loans, the more money there is available to the system, the higher tuitions become in order for each school to get their "cut" of the seemingly free money. The cycle won't stop until the gov't makes getting a college loan hard to get, thus reducing the number of people eligible to go to college.

In many states to be a licensed engineer you have to have an engineering degree, but for someone to get that degree shouldn't be on the tax payer through student loan forgiveness. If you're going to get a degree you better have a plan to use it, or be able to pay it off. Otherwise figure something else out.

I know many people with engineering degrees making at least $73,000 starting out in the Dallas area and living comfortably in high COL areas. In other fields a masters is minimum and they're not minimum wage jobs that they so claim (it is a massive over exaggeration), but these jobs don't pay like engineering so they feel cheated by the system.
      In reality the only way you're making big money is to fill a field that is in high demand, again look at engineers. If you get a degree in psychology then yes the minimum will be a masters with slightly higher than average pay. Why? Because we have a free market that decides and the demand is not high enough for the supply.

      So at what point do you call yourself a country? Because if everyone is ONLY involved with themselves, like republicans want, then you don't have one. We have roads, bridges, hospitals, libraries and schools because we ALL joined in together and pitched in. Every other civilized country in the world has health care for it's citizens that DOESN'T bankrupt them for daring to get sick. We're the ONLY one selfish and stupid enough to allow that. Independence is one thing, abandonment is entirely another. Not to mention, what could people accomplish if they WEREN'T tied into a job for fear of insecurity? Imagine what you could accomplish with your life if you didn't have to worry about every little issue being enough to cause you to go homeless. You've bought into a bill of goods pushed by psychopaths.
      And just remember ONE basic thing: While you're paying to help others, others are doing the same for YOU. Stop being a selfish idiot. Ben Franklin tried to tell us to be smarter than that. United we stand, divided we fall. And we're falling, thanks to the right and their psychopathy. Cooperation gets you MUCH further than being an island unto yourself. You would think that growing to adulthood would teach you that lesson, apparently it's too much for you to grasp.

      When older generations say they paid for college with a part time minimum wage job, they really did. I'm not sure if you did, but anyways. At my local public college, after my scholarships (and I have the highest merit scholarship), it would cost me 15,000 a year. I would be able to pay it off at minimum wage if and only if I worked full time. And that's really cutting it close. If I go to a private college the least I'll have to pay is about 9,000 right now. So I could pay that off if I had a full-time job at minimum wage. But you can't really do that and still graduate from college.
      I'm grateful to have so much in scholarships, but should I really have to rely so solely on them?
      Last note. Did you consider that the college kids you see in expensive clothes and out on the town either go out only occasionally and have some nice clothes for when they do, or that the kids you're seeing could be the richer kids who have college paid for by their parents?

    Ask these kids the same question 5 years after graduation when they are paying for the next generations "free" education.
    Because it would be "free", there would be no concern about failing a class -" Oh, I'll just take it over." and those XYZ and ABC classes sound like fun, I'll take those too.
    I would be OK with 0% interest school loans, but the kids need to have some skin in the game.
    I worked my way to a BS ME degree taking classes at night as I earned the money and graduated with NO debt.

    It is amazing that they will absolutely say they are for student loan removal. But, asked to pay more taxes and or increase their tuition to pay for the other students (all of a sudden - they start to vacillate). Now, monies come from them directly.
    These are Libs in training - I can use your monies to fight student loans. But, I do not want my monies used to do the same.
    Libs in training.

    • @randomyoutuber308
      @randomyoutuber308 Před 2 lety

      Yup, its pathetic. The way it is now you can choose to go a route other than college, choose a cheap college, or choose an expensive college. You can choose to commute and save money or live on campus and have a lot more fun. You can choose to work and pay some/all while you go, or just live off credit. You can choose to go to school at 18, serve in the military, or work a few years in between. You can choose to focus your money on it early in life and pay it off quick, or pay the minimum for a longer amount of time.
      The way the system works now, we all have choices that all lead to different outcomes. The way the these selfish, nasty libs want it those who make good choices just get punished on behalf of those who made poor choices.
      What scares me is I'm a millennial, and I busted my butt, worked full time, took courses part time, and graduated debt free. What I did was smart. If the government forgives student loans, the smart thing becomes to just borrow every dime you can, pay as little as possible, and just trust there will be more loan forgiveness in the future. If people think tuition cost and student loans are a problem now, just wait until not only do all the people currently making poor decisions continue to make poor decisions, but the good decision makers also come to the conclusion that being stupid financially is the smart thing to do.

      Partially they are vapid but a lot of it is that they have never thought about anything. They memorize and parrot back facts. They are not challenged to think critically or even challenged on their beliefs. It is encouraging to see a few of them realize that they haven't examined their positions after just a few questions. This is a very good way to help them, on their own, recognize the indoctrination they have had done to them by the educational system and society at large. This is how we reach them- they won't listen to boring lectures and most of them avoid confrontation.

    They don’t teach that in order to pay for your debt, that money has to come from somewhere. That’s taxes. They also don’t say that this solution will have to be permanent. So, they will eventually be paying for education regardless of if it is theirs, or someone else’s.
