Bach would have been absolutely delighted with you and your consummate mastery, and would surely have written at least 24 double bass concertos for you! My eyes can’t stay dry, knowing how demanding this suite already is on the cello, and even more so on the double bass with so many more finger spacings, different tuning and the upright playing position! 👏💛
As a cellist who took up bass late in life this performance reminds me of the quote from Casals: “The most perfect technique is that which is not noticed at all.” And I think this holds true here - you have served the music perfectly while making it look effortless. Brava!
Each time when I hear such perfect performance of transcribed Bach, I can't help imagining what if Bach could have heard it when he was alive. Maybe people should have spared many transcription jobs.👏
