  • Get a behind the scenes look at the creation of NASA’s new spacesuit, the xEMU (Exploration Extravehicular Mobility Unit). In this full feature, you’ll discover how the spacesuit is being built for NASA’s new missions beyond low-Earth orbit, looking forward to astronauts walking on the Moon and Mars and exploring in person. Testing for the suit takes place in the desert, underwater, and in unique NASA laboratories that can simulate the gravity of the Moon, Mars, or no gravity at all. The end result will be a spacesuit that has more flexibility, more power and more capability to allow astronauts to explore like never before.

    Before anyone wonders: SpaceX / Boeing suits look sleaker because they're "only" flight pressure suits, not something you'd make a space walk with. Moon rocks are razor sharp because there is no atmosphere to blunt them down. The suit becomes an armor against all space hazards. Like a space knight armor.

      Yeah, the Orion launch and landing suits are pretty comparable to those. The coloring isn't quite as futurey as on SpaceX's, but it's not like it's a fashion shoot and there *are* advantages to that bright orange.

      Spacesuits are supposed to be pressurised and space is almost a perfect vacuum, however when we put something that's pressurised into a vacuum it explodes totally debunking space walks ect.

    • @Tadek5
      @Tadek5 Před rokem

      @@tjguy7169 Will a slightly inflated ball explode when placed in a very low pressure chamber? An experiment could be done. Maybe, however, the rubber inside of the ball will not be tight enough and the vacuum will suck the air out of the ball? A decent vacuum pump is needed for the experiment. A vacuum cleaner is not enough.

    • @tjguy7169

      @@Tadek5 nasa can't recreate such a low pressure like space is supposed to be, when they try their vacuum chamber starts caving in on itself. I know that people want to hold on to their childhood fantasies of spacemen and propulsion in a place of no pressure or medium to propel away from but there comes a time when an adult must leave childish things behind and start living in reality.

      no, I don't think that they have "fast" internet. The Computers on the ISS don't directly connect to the internet like your PC would on Earth because they want to be protected from possible hacker attacks. All the data that is sent and received from the ISS is first processed and checked by a Server before it is sent to the ISS. That's why they have a relatively low bandwidth compared to many places on Earth. I also believe that they don't always have a internet connection because they depend on satellites and ground stations.

The top section helmet should not be round it should be rectangle face front to incorporate tech like a monitor shape . section nd the top of it should be continuous front the front to the back with no cracks or joins over the head section to the back of the backpack. Then the angle of 45 down out on the back pack then arc back into the back of the south overall a better and safer shape.
