10/14/23 Purchased Alpha Rex Pro series for my 2007 Tacoma and watched this video. Straight forward wiring but had multiple problems such as (1) lights cutting on when truck is just sitting, fixed this problem by running fuse wire to inside fuse box on ignition 15a fuse. (2) Amber light instead of blue for driver's side DRL, but everything else working OK. Noticed when I unlocked truck with FOB, the DRL were blue on both sides, so in conclusion to that problem is that I must always press unlock to get the DRL back to blue (weird). (3) Also noticed that the truck now locks itself at random times even if the keys are in the ignition (pain in the ass). Other than that, the lights look great and made a huge difference in the appearance of my truck, just hope they hold up.
One of the best tutorials. Thank you for making it very easy to follow.
So glad you showed the option of disabling the small lights and the comparison, u were on point they look way better. I got the Luxx series, a bit pricey but nice cool factor that they are sequential, full led and do a dance display. Also not sure if you saw but Alpharex just came out with new led sequential tail lights for 2nd gen, Luxx series about $400, just ordered mine
my son and I just watched your video and one other video regarding this subject. I got to thank you for taking the time out to do that, plus you got the swag for it. We did the install step by step with your directions. We also did a few extra tricks to make the wiring look a little better after completion. The job turned out perfect! The headlights are amazing, and the truck looks fantastic. My son's truck is a 2008 Tacoma 4x4. Anyways, thanks again buddy.
I love reading comments like this. I'm happy we could help.
Looking into getting a new pair of headlights for 2nd Gen Tacoma. They are fading so i figured i would look into getting a new headlights. Im so glad I came across your video. I found some other headlights that i liked a little more but after seeing the turn signals on these lights, these look 100 times better. Looks awesome! And I'm subscribing to your channel too
This headlight setup for my 09🌮 was just delivered from Extreme Terrain... got my weekend project lined up!
I just got these lights for my Tacoma. Such a great video to help me install them. 👍👍👍
Subbed! I plan on buying these headlights for my 2011 Tacoma!
The headlights you're taking out still looked mint. I can't justify the alpharex prices, but I may be sold on the ones you took out.
I just installed mines today it’s the same as the one in the video looks so much better plus I installed a new grill 10 times better looking
is the output better than stock headlights?
Thank you. This video helped me very much installing my lights.
Great video and I followed it to the letter, but after install I noticed that periodically my DRLs or amber turn signals would illuminate while the truck was off! I contacted Alpha Rex tech support and they recommended I run the the wire into the inside fuse box. Problem solved!
I have the same problem what fuse inside did you connect it to?
@@JoseAlvarez-rq3mr where did you guys get that other harness from i cant find it anywhere!?
@@JoseAlvarez-rq3mr following since I have the same issue
@@dominickrauel760 it came with the option when purchasing the lights. It was an extra $35 I believe. I'm sure if you contacted them they'd be able to get it to you
@@JoseAlvarez-rq3mr 15a ignition fuse. should be top left corner if you’re looking at the fusebox from the bottom
Don’t connect to fuse box in the engine bay. I was able to fish my ignition wire through the firewall into the cab using thin wire using the path that the hood pop cable goes through. Then just solder back on the red end and take out the ignition 15 put it in that adapter in the red wire and plug it into the same spot where the ignition 15 amp fuse went. Boom! Also the set I just got had the optional change from white DRL to amber. I for sure changed to amber. Looks amazing!
Those resemble the factory LED headlights on my 2020 Tacoma. They look good.
That was the basis for AR’s design
The lights look absolutely amazing, there's no lying about how they look. Great job on the truck and the lights, it looks sweet. Your old headlights looked brand-new, lol, if you thought your old ones were in rough shape then you should see mine. I have a 2006 TRD Sport Crew Cab short box. Stored for the last 8 years and only has 100,000 miles on it. They are very nice looking headlights and they might work great in Texas or California but I'm almost 100% positive that if I installed those headlights on my truck here in Canada with that many wires and harnesses it wouldn't last much more than 6 months to 1 year max. I'm looking for a set that can take a beating but everything I'm reading is all complaints about aftermarket headlights falling apart, filling up with water or condensation and dying in a short timeframe. Looks like OEM is still the safest choice but just too darn expensive. Toyota wants too much money for OEM replacement headlights.
just buy depo oem replacement and change them as needed
@@CARSONBOARD Ok I will look into the Depot but I should have just bought your old ones. Your old ones were still good for 2 more years of off road beatings. 👍
Love the lights my man!
I say the same, thank you for making it very easy to follow. 5 starts
These are definitely looking good. Finally some high quality headlights for the 2nd gen
If they only last a year they're not high quality
@@bigoneish was that your experience with them? If so what happened ?
@@bigoneish prove it.
Cleeannn!!!! Dam wish I would of seen these before 😫, awesome detailed installation 👌🏻!!!!
These lights make the truck look newer. Crazy how a simple job can change the look of the truck.
Ps. Does the box tell you the hue of the headlight? It would be cool to match those little fog lights to match
@CARS ONBOARD - Hey, did you end up keeping the same fog lights that you previously installed? Or did you upgrade to different fog lights? Thanks for the vid!
Those look fantastic my brother. I hope they make these for the 2012-2015 years.
Maybe you could ask on our behalf about why they have 2005-11 and 2016-2020 but where's the love for our years lol.
I have talked to Alpharex and they are bringing to market similar lights for the 2012-15 model years in a few months!
@@sanchezzz1 yeah i just ordered mine today for 2015 tacoma im really exicted
Nice looking headlights on your Tacoma. I hope you've gotten use to Texas and our weather. I've been thinking about changing the OEM's on my 07 and really like how these look and work. Just to clarify, are the lights that you received and intalled the PRO-Series? And after a month or so since the install, are you still impressed with them? Thanks and enjoy your videos.
thank you sir, great vid, very informative
That’s sick
Looks pretty good
Looking good bro! I just picked up a 07 tacoma and this is gonna be my first mod 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Hey brother that's a great looking headlight. I want to install this to my dad's truck. Just wondering how's the quality of the projector? Did you have to upgrade to HID? If so, what bulb type it comes with? Thank you.
Beautiful
Great install and review video! Thanks. I just purchased the same Alpha Rex LUXX lights for my Tacoma. How are your lights holding up after 3 yrs? Any issue? dimming or lower light output over time?
Are the led headlight bulbs replaceable if the bike goes out or if you want to upgrade the bulbs? Thanks in advance 🙏🏽🤙🏽
F***!! YESS Thank you for this video!! I bought the same ones
Does the luxx series have the sequential blinkers too?
easy to follow, but that fuse install caused a continual drain on my battery and a host of other problems. Must go through the firewall instead.
Those are sick lights! Do you have an hid kit installed also?
Thanks for making this video. It really helped me to install them on my Tacoma. I have one issue, the DRL’s are staying on. Have you seen this issue? Please let me know your comments. Thank you
i have the sam problem you find a solution
Did you have any paint chipping issues inside the housing?
Good day. I hope things are well at your end? I have an issue with my Alpharex headlights. They're are hyper flashing
Me gusto mucho su video pero tengo una pregunta, kisiera Saber Como puedo ordenar ese harness Para conectar las luzes en mi tacoma, gracias!
What bulbs are you using? I noticed it looks different from whats supplied in the AlphaRex package
Dude thx for the video review and install, I'm seriously looking to get these but havent made up my mind. My truck is white thought of getting the black but maybe thinking of getting the chrome not sure. it's March 2021 are you still liking the headlight, have you run into any problems?
IMO the black looks sic on white 🌮
Does the alpha Rex startup work on these?
What about when you turn the lights on bright
How brights are they and are they white led or halogen.....
I liked them but i don't cherish the idea of all the wires and boxes that are gonna be tucked down there , for the DRL conversion box addition . I was about ready to buy the same set from Alpha Rex05-11 Toyota Tacoma PRO-Series Projector Headlights , $475.00 , but it just appears that I may be opening myself up to problems, when you don't have Factory DRL lights . But good video, but it unsold me on the idea.
I just got these by the lights are amber for some reason? Do you have any idea how to change then white?
How they holding up bro?
What h7 bulb did you used for this headlights
Do you know if 2011 tacoma have factory running day lights?
Where can I get the daytime running light harness?
Wish alpha would make a 3rd gen style for the 2nd gen’s.
Can you have amber DRLS?
Can you make other video in the night but with the fog light off
where to buy the cordset that you connect to the battery
Hey, how you install that foglights.
Thanks for uploading this video!! I have a 2005 Tacoma TRD Sport and no DRL so i ordered the wire harness for the DRL but it didnt come with the long wire that runs across to both sides that you connected to the fuse box. It only came with the harness for each headlight but not the 1st one you were talking about. What should i do? Please help
Send them a message on IG or their email.
Doesn’t the way are you referring to come with the headlight so it’s self🤔🤨
The opposite happened to me I got the wire that runs to the fuse box and battery but neither of the running light wires that go to each headlights
Everything was dope… except that damn cap 🧢 😂😂😂
Getting my lights this wknd, can’t wait… and I think ima have to agree with you on those 3 lines that light up… I may do the same and disconnect
My truck does not have a DRL but in the video you can see 3 converters I got 2 of the lights but I am missing the one that is connected to the battery, where can I find a link please?
Sorry, wrong button. My headlights are hyperflashing and are doing some other weird stuff as I'm driving. My truck is a 2007 Tacoma. Would like to ask you if you're having the same issues?
Intael everything as you show in the video, but now it doesn't start, my tacoma is a 2008 model, do you have a solution, thank you
Have you had any leakage water wise after installing these high end headlights? I just got mine in LUXX series and wondering if I should weatherproof the seam between the plastic housing assembly that you can’t see after you install it and the actual front part of the headlight that is visible after you install(lens) with silicone before I install them or not?? Any info would be appreciated thanks!!
This gets asked a lot (about all aftermarket lights) and dspite so many people having gotten the ARexs i haven't seen a single forum post stating they have had any leakage.
Where these the headlights with the drl adapter?
Thanks for the info.
Any idea if the running lights can be yellow?
another channel said its not recommended as they will burn out the internal resistors. Bummer , i know.
hello where to buy the connectors that are not included a link?
Do you have to do the DRL adapter if you are planning on just using them On/Off? just curious as looking for projects to start on my 2008 Tacoma!
you can burn out one of your resisters if your truck doesn’t have DRL and you don’t plug in the part, but it’s ultimately up to you.
I have a 05 Tacoma I’m thinking of installing these headlights on my truck, I think they’ll look sweet, how well do these lights function at nighttime
Dude they're amazing
My man, Thank you for the video.
Unfortunately, you completely skip over if you happen to have DRL.
WTF!!!, LOL it's good tho. I just unboxed a set of the Pro series black, and installed them but are scared as hell to hook them up. Even the online instructions only cover "No OEM DRL" instructions only show install with the No DRL extra harness. "HELP"!!!!!!!!! PLEASE.
I installed 05-11 Toyota Tacoma LUXX-Series LED Crystal Headlights Alpha-Black - With converter on mine and figured I would also plug the fuse into the 10 efi slot but this actually caused problems with my tacoma wanting to die on me so the best one I have found that works for me is the 10 ac fuse the only downside is my ac on the inside has to be engaged at all time for my blinkers to work properly and the day light running lights to be on. If anyone has had similar issues or found a better fuse to piggy back on please let me know.
wire it into the fuse box that’s inside the truck. into the 15a ignition fuse, that’ll fix your problem
Are these the Pro or Luxxe version?
I am looking for head light for Toyota Tacoma 2015
How do you adjust these lights?
At the end when you said your lights were too high, is there a way to make them higher or lower? I feel like mine are way too low and narrow. Or is that how they are?
yes you can adjust them
Hello everyone. May some one assist me on weather I would need the DRL harness for my truck or not? How can I figure weather I would need it ?
2 - 3 second delay on turn signal with mine... Anyone else having this issue? Also 3 dead led bulbs on passenger side. Sent back. Waiting for backordered replacements. Got the taillights as well. Having hyperplasia blinking. Guess I needed to install resistors now... good looking aftermarket lights but I wish everything just worked....
Is there a way to have the stripes be amber? I I know their tundra headlights do. Maybe it’s just a bulb swap?
just put the parking lights on and they will be amber
Since you did the drl harness can you turn off your drl when you don’t want them on?
No DRL runs all the time.
Hello there: Great review but I have a question...I have seen a few images with the amber light on the c shape led. How do switch the colors?
I don't understand the question. the c shape led is a turn signal color yellow and day time running light color white. I don't think you can change the color.
@@CARSONBOARD Got it, thanks!
Hola me podria mandar el nobredela tienda donde las compro pliss
Do you have an update?
Way to expensive.. for what it is.. but.. thank you for the video.. great info..
Welcome to Texas. Good tutorial but you have to get rid of that LA cap. Astro's is the way to go.LOL
I got Luxx series for my 11 Taco and the driver's side DRL isn't working. I followed manufacturer direction for running the fuse bundle through firewall. In your video you go under the hood. Do you think this could help the problem? I have seen a lot of other reviews about bad AlphaRex driver's side headlight and I'm not trying to pull my truck apart a bunch of times. Any input is appreciated.
Man thats a good question. Send them a DM on IG they will help you out. I way I hook up the wire to the fuse box in engine bay is not the best place but it work. Sometimes my lights turn on because of where i hooked it up.
I have a 2011 trd offroad. It has running lights do i need to get the ones with the adapter or without?
With out just make sure you do have day time running lights
Just installed mine yesterday. I have the DRL so didnt need the harness but I followed your video and got them on. Only issue i have is when I use the blinker it goes super fast. Any idea what would cause that? Thanks for any help.
Not sure sometimes when a tail light bulb is out that can happen.
Hello Adolph. I still can’t figure out weather I would need the DRL harness or not. May you please assist me on this?
My daytime running lights are amber no clue why they aren't white???
Where can I buy the wire harness? I can’t find it on Amazon
It on the alpharex website
Have you had any problems with ur headlight my headlight keep coming on at random times and stay on and go back off
you need to make sure you wire it into the fuse box that’s inside the truck. that way it’ll only come on once the truck has been turned on by ignition
I have these on my truck and I was curious what yours do when you lock and unlock it? For mine the white DRLs turn on if I hit the lock or unlock button and stay that way for a minute or so. But if it hit the buttons about a half a dozen times they flash yellow. Not sure if that’s possible to fix
I'm having the same issue. I just left it that way. The problem is the power supply need to be moved to different ignition on only location. The place I said to install it actually has power at random times because it will test the car when it's off.
wire it through the firewall and into the fuse box that’s inside the truck, that way when you lock them they’ll only stay on for about 30 seconds then they’ll shut off and won’t come on at random times.
@@TRDAidan i have the pro series and the they dont flash when i lock or unlock
@@lightningsanchez5312 unfortunately the pro series do not do the light dance when they are locked/unlocked. i tried to explain the best i could in my video czcams.com/video/XveLxIM9Xv4/video.html
Hey man love the vid, great tutorial
Question, exactly which model AR lights are the ones in the install? The pro series ( $450-ish), the Luxx ( $750-ish), or the NOVA ($1100 -ish) ? Thanks!
The Pro series.
So the pro does the sequential and start up dance, I thought only the luxx could do that

@@ericclapp470 yea I wanna know before I buy the luxx because if the pro does it, I'll buy those instead of the more expensive one👍🏽

What happened to the scs ray 10 wheels? Did you sell them?
Nope still have them.
I got mine installed at a shop, 2 weeks laters my truck stopped working wouldn't start, had to get it towed to the dealer, it had to do with a fuse in the headlights now my DRL don't work
any update as to why?
So I feel stupid for asking but after 30 mins of google searching, how can I tell if my 09 Tacoma has DRL?
I bought the same headlight because of this video and I followed your install everything worked perfectly. Except one small thing, when I set my alarm there is no flash from the headlights, the back still work but not the front. Any suggestions
did you purchase the pro series or the luxx series? only the nova and luxx series do a light dance on lock/unlock with the key fob. the pro series do not do a light dance

Does your truck have OEM Daytime running lights. If no did you order and install the extra harness
Yes mine does
I just bought the same lights and also have the same issue with the 2 yellow connectors (driver and passenger). I have factory drls on my 2010 tacoma. Both headlight assemblys power on and work but i have amber lighting for the led strips instead of white led strips. I double checked my wiring but something is missing. I ordered the headlights "without" the added drl kit since my tacoma already has drls.
good video, those lights look like their worth $400 based on the quality and functioning. tail lights next 🤙
7 months later i bought them.
I just got mine. What do you think? I feel like mine are too low and narrow. Is there a way to adjust the light's position?
I have 2007 Tacoma and installed these exact lights with the daytime running light harness and everything works great. My only issue is my blinkers hyper-flash when the headlights are on. I did end up wiring to the interior fuse box not the one next to the battery but followed everything else in this intall video. Has anyone else had this issue?
yes, check at tacoma world forums.
My tacoma 2011 does not have DRL I been loking for a video how to turn on the drl and i was thinking to buy this alpharex damn man you save my life thats so cool thanks for the video, can you told me wich one you chose when you did the purchase?
The one that adds the $35 DRL wiring harness
I dont seem to be stupid but does this have a low beam/high beam option? Or is it just one set brightness ?
yes it still has the low and high beams.
Are these the pro series or LUXX series ?
LUXX series version.
Do you have the halogen lights? And if so, are they white lights
Those are LED from the Lux projector. Not the Pro projector with halogen. $300 difference.
