  • During our latest install of Loki's new AlphaRex Nova series headlights, we ran into the common issue of hyperflash. During our pursuit of correcting our AlphaRex Hyperflash issue, we noticed there was a lot of info addressing hyperflash as a general problem with LED upgraded lights and not much info on how to resolve the issue specifically for an AlphaRex product. with how easy the process was, we wanted to help others with the same issue and help guide them on how to resolve the issue.

    If you have LED turn signals on front and rear you can get rid of the resistors and replace your turn signal flasher relay with a LED specific one. More streamline, no worry of resistors burning up, bad connections, and lower voltage consumption. Just a different way of correcting hyper flash.

      That’s interesting, it really seems like hit or miss with this issue. Just recently talked to another individual asking about some other options he found to fix the problem as he wanted to be able to correct them during the initial install. had same situation as you, he installed both new AlphaRex headlights and tail lights however he ended up not even having the problem with either one. I’m sure this is why they don’t just send the resistors initially with the product, they likely only have some that experience the problem and have no way to tell which sets will experience it. Maybe it’s all situational.

    • @justifiedbyfaith8971

      @@mlapl03 because the fuse in the engine bay is tied to the evap system which momentarily turns on while the truck is off. • @justifiedbyfaith8971
      @justifiedbyfaith8971 Před rokem

      @@aharonvazquez3646 The Alpharex DRL and turn signals require the control box to function. You just want to run a wire from inside the cab to the engine bay instead of using the fuse tap inside the engine bay fuse box. Take note that you will need to cut the fuse tap and add on some wire to extend it. 1. Starting at the fuse tap, Cut off about 8" from the fuse tap and wire. 2. Solder an additional 3-4' of 16-18ga wire. 3. Plug the fuse tap into the fuse box inside the cab that is left of the steering wheel. 4. Run the new wire through the firewall. There are 2 grommets in the engine bay firewall that gives you access to the cabin. The top one has interior carpet trim that prevents you from just feeding the wire through. If you take a slim screw driver, you can shove it through. Tape the wire to the screw driver with electrical tape tightly and pull the screw driver back out. This will fish the wire into the engine bay for you. 5. Strip both ends of the old wire and the new wire and use a butt connector or male/female quick disconnects to connect the wires back. The fuse that you can tap into is the radio fuse.

      Loki is a 2014 TRD Off-road, we’ve been getting a lot of mixed reports of others either getting hyper flash or not with a variety of situations. Some have had it just installing the tail lights and some have had no issues at all with the same headlights and taillights installed just like us. From what we gather and based off talks with AlphaRex customer support it’s just random as to wether or not it will happen between the product and the truck itself. But either way it’s awesome to hear about your experience and that you didn’t have to hassle with the resistors for your install, it wasn’t bad to do just another step and added stuff is all. There is nothing listed physically on the actual resistors.
