The music in this video is, of course, all MF DOOM, and his various aliases. The background music comes from his instrumental compilation: Metal Fingers Presents: Special Herbs - Hudba
Here to remind everyone that Madvillainy is one of the best hiphop albums of all time and wether or not you care about DOOM you absolutely have to listen to it
Idk while Madvillainy is absolutely amazing, for some reason I like MM.. FOOD more. It just feels more like the goofy DOOM character.
U need to listen to BORN LIKE THIS. MADVILLAINY is overhyped. Amazing no doubt. But overrated
@@gaditetheghost1953 already have, its goated but mv is my favorite from doom
@@letskissnow987 respect
@@gaditetheghost1953 idk I don't like Born Like This as much as some of his other albums. Its a great album, and I love how dark it sounds, but I feel like MM.. FOOD is peak DOOM.
Never forget, ALL CAPS

The GOAT of GOATs can now rest.
If you like that verse, you surely won’t be disappointed with any of his other verses
RIP
I only discovered DOOM’s music a week or 2 before he was announced dead. This is helping me actually gonna help me get into his stuff more thanks lead
If you only just started listening, I have a few songs to reccomend to you. Lickupon, Meathead, Raid, Fancy Clown, GAZILLION EAR, Fazers, Gas Drawls, Curls, Figaro, and THATS THAT. These are some of my personal favorites and some of them are a little lesser known. I hope this helped you
Same
This is my first time hearing of him other then discord calls Didn’t realize he’s dead until watching this
Yeah it was the same to me as well, so to long time fans, I’m kinda a fake fan which sucks
I’m in the exact same situation. Just learned about his music a week or 2 before he was announced dead.
“It’s impossible to be in a bad mood when listening to his music” this is literally word for word what I said to my sister when mourning his death. At first I tried not to listen to him cuz I felt like it was too soon, which proved to be impossible cuz I can’t go a single day turning on at least one DOOM song but when I finally started playing it again, even tho it’s retroactively sadder it was hard to listen and be too depressed. His music is just too fun, it shows his humanity while simultaneously not telling you much detail at all. But it doesn’t have to because his interests and influences are spilled out onto every track making it a very intimate feeling listening to his works. In the same way you use nerdy references and callbacks while talking to a friend even when a situation is serious or bittersweet.
Leadhead x MF DOOM, AND you remembered all caps when you spelled the man name??? What did I do in a past life to deserve such blessed content?
lol yeah
MF LEAD
literally how i feel right now, this video hit the head on the nail about DOOM i applaud you sir
@Gears of Cognition So...he was Hitler.
I am sure that this video will be used one day to celebrate doomsday...the day he passed away
“I’m the one known for giving really heavy back aches, grown but still living off little Debby snack cakes”
I relate to this more than I am comfortable with. Those lil Debbie snacks are the shit
I’m right here with you man, this is the only celebrity death to truly cut me deep. Thank you for making this and celebrating his memory. All Caps
This and Stan Lee for me
kobes passing hurt bad too
Kentaro Miura🥲
I assumed this video was going to be about “motherfucking” Doom, as in the video game. I ended up learning about a rapper I’d somehow never heard of before or even recognized
you've finally discovered your favorite rappers favorite rapper
you're not the only one 😥
Now look up Spark Master Tape and start spreading the word of the mask. #swoup
MF DOOM is the goat, definitely check his stuff out
all caps
Doom legit calls him self a super villain while everyone that met him say how nice and kind he actually is in real life
GET TF OUTTTTA MY WAAAYYY- MF DOOM
being a supervillain was just a side gig for him i guess
YES! Thank you! After DOOM passed away many people have talked about his rhyme schemes and his nerdy references etc
But almost no one gives him enough credit for his INCREDIBLY clever wordplay and the dense layers upon layers of meanings that almost every single line of almost every song has.
It's so crazy that the man behind the supervillain mask died on Halloween, the day of masks. In 2020, the year full of masks. It's such a tragic poetic coincidence that you can't top
The irony is palpable. It's just as layered as his lyrics were. He was the best lyricist ever.
He hit peak esoteric relevance
I was literally listening to mm food in the morning before he was announced dead for the first time
He was announced dead more than once?

here we have what's called a "dangling modifier."
My favorite artist. Definitely one of the most influential and unique artists. It baffles me how he still goes almost entirely unrecognized by the mainstream media. For example, when he died, nobody I knew posted about it or talked about it. Although, when other rappers such as pop smoke and x died, everyone went wild.
Yeah same here, but it was cool seeing almost every rapper talking about him. It just goes to show you that he's your favorite rapper's favorite rapper
@@win_jayden he really is. It sucks so bad that we never got to see the Kanye and DOOM collab

I haven’t been able to put into words how I felt about DOOM’s passing, and you did it. Thank you. Getting my first tattoo this week, a DOOM face too.
I got one on my arm 5 years ago
One of the most intelligent and talented to ever do it.
Literally started listening to MF DOOM last october, dude seemed like a great guy
He had the power to play a hole movie into your head with just music, and to drag yours thoughts to reflect and feel involved
Well point David that made me think 👍
"It's like I was making a new friend through his music" is definitely how I feel when I really start to understand an artist and why they do their work and it makes me love the art even more. I'm so glad I found this channel I feel like I relate so much to what you're saying in your videos and I really appreciate you saying it.
This was one of the better vidss I've seen about DOOM. It wasn't about breaking down his music, it was about just appreciating what his music was.
RIP MF DOOM, THE GOAT, THE truest artist ever, THE realest B-Boy, DOOM was my only hero as well
The first MF DOOM song I ever heard was Sofa King. “Scared of a bunch of water, stay out the rain. Order a rapper for lunch, spit out the chain” . It was on a bizlesnaff video on CZcams. I have been listening to MF DOOM everyday since and that was three years ago. I can’t believe he’s gone.
Listening to MF DOOM feels like watching Saturday morning cartoons. You just melt away and enjoy the moment.
Discovered him my freshman year and he got me through it all, man’s a legend.
Now here I am a sophomore, replaying his tracks daily lol
I think the biggest reason MF DOOM'S rhyme schemes are so satisfying is they're like psychedelic quasicrystal patterns, patterns that have such a theme but don't repeat like fractal patterns, It's this dense quasicrystal rhyme schemes that leaves you even as a long time fan discovering more complexity in each bar even after hundreads of listens.
There's other things that make DOOM great but this alone would be enough for me to listen to him to the end of time.
This really reminds me of German rapper Morlockk Dilemma, for whom MF Doom obviously was a great idol.
He too isn't saying that much deep stuff (but when he does, man, he does it) but he's just rhyming mad words some of which I haven't heard for years around topics no one else is rapping about. Adding to that he samples soundtracks of obscure movies preceding the 1950s, creating his completely unique atmosphere where you're just completely baffled all the time by the samples and the lyrics. Plus he's a really nice guy, just talks to his fans after the show and is always chilling - I had to think of him throughout the whole video.
So, another reason to love Doom: he inspired a whole subculture around the planet.
Looks like it’s going to be a great day today
Thanks for making this. I’ve only kind of known about MF DOOM’s work but when I heard he died I felt pretty bad. I even mentioned that he died to a few people who I was pretty sure wouldn’t know who he was, like I was trying to morn or something. Your videos kinda given me some clarity on it, reminded me that when things got pretty rough a couple of years ago I actually did listen to a fair few of his songs on repeat. There’s just something really cool and welcoming about them, plus the fact that they’re just incredible on a a whole bunch of levels. It’s cool that you’ve introduced a whole bunch more people to his stuff just by covering it accurately and respectfully.
Just ran across your video and I appreciate you made this it was very good. As I'm sure everyone else has stated we're all missing DOOM. I'm a fan from the 3rd Bass/KMD days to the WKCR freestyles and Fondle 'em Record's 12 inches. CAPS LOCK FOREVER!
This kinda video is what ive been craving since he passed. Its good hearing someone that actually knows their shit talking about him, big ups and RIP DOOM
I discovered his music in late October, I listened to him for half a month and after that wanted another album, and didn’t know he was dead :(
I found DOOM about 4 months before his death and completely went through his discography soon after and was so bummed when I heard of his passing. RIP to THE legend. Great video.
Great video man! thanks for sharing!
As a rapper, he's definitely been a benchmark for me all the way. I definitely agree with your sentiments here.
Honestly, whenever I kept hearing people talk about this guy they were so vague that I thought he was a Doom Mod that wasn't available for download anymore. Now i'm kinda sad that I never knew his music up until now (I don't really listen to rap/hip hop outside of a few choice songs) but i'm definitely interested in checking out his albums now since you seem to hold him in high regard and the songs seem like they'd gel with my tastes perfectly.
DOOM made music because he loved music. That's what made DOOM, DOOM. RHYMESAYERS FOREVAH.
every time i listen to a DOOM song i always find something that i didnt even realise before. love it
Dammmn, nehruviandoom has been sitting in my bootleg library for like over a decade. No context what it was or who it was from just know it was awesome so I kept it. thanks for solving this mystery from the history, now building an MF DOOM folder so thanks.
Always loved how he would work words around his tongue and then paint a tonal mood with how he had just molded them to sound more cool, casual and interwoven, into a stream-of-melodic-consciousness. The way he used his voice, he was a tonal sculpturer, merging words in his mouth into one unity before releasing a verse, like kneading pieces of clay together into one and forming that to coherence on a plate in one spinning movement. And it always sounded spontaneous like he just went with whatever pieces of phonemes his subconscious threw up at him at that very moment. "Scared of a bunch of water then get out the rain, order a rapper for lunch and spit out the chain." Sublime.
MF DOOM manages to be extremely class conscious through his character being inherently against the music industry as well.
Something I felt you missed and brushed over a bit was that DOOM can have some heavy meaning in his songs sometimes, like in ? on Operation Doomsday that second verse about his brother just hits so hard…
My favorite artist of all time I’ve had his mask tattooed on my left arm for nearly 13 years he was a truly free thinker and a pioneer in every single way it hurts most knowing another artist like this will never come around again. he was truly one of a kind. But at least he can be with his child now
Great video dude, this is a great way to learn people about MF DOOM. Very wel done, because it's strange music to get into. One of the best to ever do it. R.I.P. MF DOOM.
I came across MF Doom from Demon Days like a lot of people but didn't know what I was really hearing. Years later, I was talking music with someone I worked with and he showed me 'Plumskinz' by KMD (MF Doom's first group before he became MF Doom) and I loved the production on it. One of my favourite beats.
I’ve been thinking about this video for a couple of hours now, I was already an MF DOOM fan but this has me revisiting him more than ever. I really appreciate you putting this together, I can’t think of a better wait to tribute him. Sleep easy, DOOM.
I remember hearing the Spider-Man samples and getting a rush of nostalgia. In my opinion DOOM was the wittiest and most influential artist in the underground hip hop scene.
Excellent & interesting. Sums up pretty much how I been feeling about him since KMD - Mr. Hood album. From the songs, to the videos, & lyrical content. That was my intro to Zev Love X aka MF DOOM, way back in the day. Or just as they was featured on 3rd Bass albums. Then Mr. Hood came, one of my favorite albums of all time. Playful, insightful, thought provoking, & humorous wit.
Truly appreciated the artistic diversity hip hop had since the '90s & just prior. Hip hop was so dope before "the machine/powers that be" wanted to push so called gangster rap to the brink. Operation dumb down & numb the populus began. Now, its a time & place for everything but that was pushed to stamp out prior uplifting movements thru the arts. One could find such food for thoughts. It still exist but its far in between & sometimes revealed thru word of mouth.
Thanks for sharing & Rest In Power: MF DOOM, his son, his brother Sub Roc, & a multitude of others. For anyone else in desire for such: stay healthy, live strong, protect your own, & grow...
That mask means so much to so many people. DOOM is the only rapper who can walk on stage in a metal mask, a throwback Knicks jersey, and some baggy cargo pants but still shroud the entire venue in an aura that oozes creativity and villainy
“Catch a throatful from the fire vocal with ash and molten glass like Eyjafjallajökull”
That was by far the best DOOM tribute video I've come across, I'm a huge fan and find myself constantly trying to decipher his lyrics in which you've helped.
Waking up to the New year after a terrible prior year but spending just hours before the best ever New years eve playing basketball and watching the fireworks with my son was such an emotional roller-coaster.
Two trails of rust coming from out of the eye holes.
Crying like a grown man, promise to make rappers snatch mic's out of they own hands.
Exactly how you taught us, we'll take it from here.
Look how far you've brought us.
DOOM.
- Lupe Fiasco.
I've never really been able to enjoy or appreciate rap as a musical genre, and I never listen to it of my own volition, but I have to say thank you for making this video. The first I ever heard of MF DOOM was of his passing, so thank you for making this topic more digestible and approachable.
You're missing a lot. From an avid Classical, Jazz, Bluegrass, Prog rock, Alt rock, etc listener. You need to integrate some hip hop into your life. It's exhilarating discovering new music. There are some genius level artists out there, unfortunately the genre has been commercialized, and that's a shame.
I love this video
You went way deeper than I ever could & clearly have a deep intuitive appreciation for doom
I'm going to come back to this as I could not take it all in
Really really great top tier video man
& DOOM=🐐🐐🐐
Great effin job here brother. I waited a long time to watch this. MF DOOM FOREVER
My stepdad had talked to me a lot about how he had passed away, and just this morning a shirt he ordered from his store had arrived, the store that you can now no longer buy from now by the way. I haven't actually seen the design yet, but it put a massive impression on me of how sudden his death was, because he ordered that shirt before he died, and had no idea that any of this would have happened.
I just love watching the music vids, seeing that surprisingly well crafted Mask makes me feel out & makes the music vids no matter how simple or weird it is, great
Bro.. Im here 2 years later to agree with every single word u said!! Doom was a master and a friend!! SLEEP EASY DOOM!
You've convinced me, I have a new discography to add to my collection. You had me at 6:19.
Subtlety in wisdom is saying one thing and meaning three, all true. I look forward to giving this a proper listen through this week-end.
MF DOOM was something akin to the David Bowie of rap. Ever so talented and always took a playful, witty, dry sense of humor, quirky, curious and explorative approach to their craft.
DOOM's music is amazing in that it's super dense and thought provoking without being so heavy-going it brings you down.
I remember the first time I've listened to DOOM. Gorillaz showed me how rap IS a essential form of expression in music. I've always thought, real music is guitar and bands e.t.c. MF DOOM changed the way i perceive and consume music. I'll thank him for that
my older cousin showed me doom when i was 13 and instantly loved him, been lisening for years and i wont stop anytime soon
Doom had a big influence on Earl Sweatshirt's flow especially Earl's early stuff
I fucking KNEW this man was a patrician. Hell yeah. RIP DOOM
Now i want more music related videos from Leadhead! In particular one about Radiohead!
Ive always found your videos comforting, this one was my youtube clousure for Doom - love the video man.
Mm food is probably my all time favorite album
Didn’t expect this content from you, would love to see more varied medium analysis from you.
We didn’t lose a hero we lost the illest villain of them all
MF DOOM is one of my favorite artist. such a damn shame he’s passed away. he helped make some of the greatest rap albums of all time. madvilliany is still one of my favorites ever.
This is perfect timing, I've just started listening to DOOM last week and you just made a video about him, cool!
Wasn't expecting a Doom tribute on a gaming analysis channel... Good shit!
Thanks for making this video it means a lot
This was an incredible style of video, I'd love to see more analysis of musicians/bands
Yes, please.
okay the music video with the two camera angles stitched together is just super well-done.
Really was waiting for you to post this
thank you man
Finally someone who doesn’t instantly say “start with mad villainy”
You've managed to express exactly how I feel about MF DOOM. Very well done.
If you're interested in creative writing, song writing, anything like that. Then you need MF DOOM in your library
My three favourite things combined; leadhead, MF DOOM, and analysing music
A year ago I was a man, now I am a lesbian.
Your video about MF DOOM was a pivotal moment in my finding that out about myself. Thank you.
'Whoever ain't get it ain't supposed to'
Dumile the trans activist. Hey, get what you need and leave the rest alone sister.
2 years but hope you’re doing well hell yeah ^
I was waiting for a lofi inspired album called MOOD FM
I used to listen to MFDOOM just appreciating how it sounds, but this puts it in a new light.
He was a sound sculptor for sure. And he had that laid back playfulness in his voice. Like a grown ass cool kid with swagger and a dry sense of humor.
Okay so I'm sure I'm wrong and have just completely over thought this but, I always liked to interpret the stories of each of DOOM's aliases as being about one mentally unwell person who feels like he's completely alone and misunderstood and progressively falls deeper and deeper into madness. So I feel like it manifests itself as multiple personalities and, he constantly forgets who he is and reinvents him self as a new persona and, each of them knows of each other but not that they are one in the same. Personally I always thought of Viktor Vaughn as someone who wants to stop MF DOOM and is willing to go so far as to team up with a Madvillan to do it. King Geedorah is like the manifestation of his hatred and anger at the world and JJ DOOM... idk he's like MF DOOM's kid that doesn't care about the family business of villainy and just wants to do weird shit. Again this is just what I like to think of it as, I'm just another person who's was touched deeply by this great man's music. And just remember ALL CAPS when you spell the man's name. 😥
RIP
"MF DOOM"
Daniel Dumile
Bro. That’s what’s up!
Shocked that I was the only one in my family who knew him. But I’m also happy that he wasn’t completely obscure. I think it’s good that people knew his name, it’s just depressing it took his death to finally get me talking about him more
Excellent video, the perfect tribute to doom. My favorite video of yours yet, I always appreciate another fan of soom
I did not expect this video from you but I am happy you made this! Seems like we share not only the same taste in video games but also in hip hop. That's very neat!
This was amazing bro was looking for soemthing specifically on Kookies as I knew I was missing something even while getting 2-3 layers of metaphor
Glad to know there are other huge fans out there. This video is a good reference point to send my non DOOM knowledgeable friends.
Brobee, I already thought he was the goat, but you just broke it down even further. Thanks for this. I appreciate your appreciation.
I've put his music on, random youtube playlists of his songs, every single day on my commute (50 min) and back since he died. It still hasn't gotten old.
I remember you had some DOOM beats on one of your previous videos. It might’ve been a reason i subscribed. Rip MF DOOM, your favorite rappers favorite rapper
Madvillainy was my introduction to DOOM, and I never memorized a song's lyrics as quickly as Accordion lmao and it was not even intentional
Of course I adore DOOM as a rapper, but his production work is especially near and dear to my heart. When I first started dabbling in making old school hip hop beats, his work was my primary inspiration. I would make beats just to imagine how he'd spit to it, and seven years later I'm still inspired whenever I listen to the Special Herbs series.
Fck man, I still get so sad whenever I remember he's gone :( the only other musician death in my life to hit me this hard was Joey Jordison. wtf is this decade :( if Brian Wilson passes away too I'm gonna cry like a little kid
Thank you so much for making this. Seriously thank you
I’m so glad you did this video, I have loved DOOM since the first time I heard mm food in detention back in 6 grade, it breaks my heart that my dream is to make a track with DOOM or for DOOM and sadly that will never happen unless I get onto a posthumous release which I wouldnt do because it’s not the artists idea, being a Stan I’d of taken a DOOM album over a em album any day and I love Em, rest easy DOOM your music will inspire artist for years to come 🙏
All this time there were hardcore MF DOOM fans hiding in plain sight. I seriously love his music. Somehow I never met anyone in real life outside of my old high school friends from back in the day that listen to the villain
Hey dude, almost 200k! Good video too, keep it going
Leadhead leadhead leadhead. You did it. Masterpiece. Thanks man.
i knew you would do this after hearing his tunes in some of your videos and your playlist.
"He's put me in a good mood so many times, nothing could ever undermine the effect that his music has on me."
So true. I wouldn't go as far as getting a tat, however this is why I happily ordered a DOOM necklace from the lovely @anabsurdexistence. It's why I have every DOOM album on vinyl, why I've sought out every deep cut, why I've drawn imagery based on the aesthetics he put out, need I go on?
However, a thing I shall never ignore is the times DOOM spoke on gender variance, and I'm not talking about Batty Boyz. I cite the attrazine lines from GMO, the skit from the end of The Fine Print, and... there may be another instance that escapes my memory for now. I guess my point is that, while he was very unlike many other rappers, I don't think it's good to kid yourself that you'd be his friend. The guy was very unfortunately notoriously hard to get along with, regardless of who you were, but I think he had a particular dislike toward honest and open T people, in part due to his religious beliefs. Despite what he outwardly says about how "anyone can wear the mask" for his personal profit, I do not think he would ever accept someone like us as part of the culture he wanted to actually promote in his ideal society.
I still love his music. xoxo
Thanks to your video I have a new favorite artist, rest in power, and thanks leadhead.
