It was a crazy time to be an Underground Hip Hop fan in the early 2000s, up until about 2006ish. DOOM was insane, dude opened a lot of musical doors for me.

Grimm was a great dude (I produced multiple songs on his American Hunger album) he really did get screwed over by many people and things, and he really did feel Doom was part of it and there was money that was mishandled but not directly by Doom. Grimm had been screwed so much that he really just was watching his back, it was a prison mentally. I'm glad they did come back to good terms later, hip hop was better with them together

Freddie Gibbs got that older style flow and delivery which isn't heard often anymore and fits in the category of your more traditional rappers.. but Doom was a storyteller whom didn't rely on a beat or melody... he just spoke to the mic and the beat followed. Can't compare the two honestly they aren't anything alike beside the oddball tracks they choose to rap over.

MF DOOM catalogue Madvillain definitely is the pinnacle of sample/producing. But Doomsday holds that special place as my favorite DOOM album of all time. The whole album on repeat all day. Rest easy Daniel Dumile and Subroc.

Great job. MC Search's podcast, " Have I ever told you the one about....MF DOOM", there is an episode specifically on MF Grimm. The episode gets into their relationship and Grimm himself talks about it. Pretty much what you covered here but I was glad to hear they still had brotherly love for each other according to Grimm. I think you and anybody reading this would enjoy that podcast. 12-14 episodes anywhere from 20-40 minutes long. From beginning to end with a lot of people involved in DOOM's life and career contributing with stories of their interactions.

I don't think he ever intended on doing such an album, I believe he was utilizing one of the 48 laws of power. Play on People's Need to Believe to Create a Cult-like Following. People desperately want to believe in something. Offer them a cause to follow. Promise the world but keep it vague; whip up enthusiasm.

The SOB’s situation did t happen has mentioned here… in short: Doom was goofing on Megalon all night, just riding him. He continued on stage, Gun popped Doom (almost) knocked off his mask and jumped off stage and walked out the front door. Doom got up said “MF” and ended the set. He asked me where Tommy went, I explained he was probably on the train to LI… doom’s girlfriend kept saying to me you know how doom plays too much…Tommy was sick of it.” 😂😂 I think X-Ray has video of that set.

Can't believe you missed Doom, dissing his own records on CZcams as Freestyle Fletcher.
Got to hang out a bunch with Grimm back in like 2019, and he seemed to completely moved past the beef.
Doom chasing megalon out the concert, for the crowd to follow and watch them run down the street only for them to not be seen again that night is hilarious to me.

MF Doom and Freddie Gibbs were in a track together on that limited release album that Doom did with DJ Muggs, I think that was before 2019 tho'
Midgets into crunk and the lyrics to follow were definitely not jokes. Book of Daniel is one of the coldest disses ever and the beat is fuego. Hated seeing them beef, and I’m team DOOM, but Grimm ripped him in half.
DOOM never really tried to fight back or respond so grim won by default. If beef rap is anything to go by DOOM had better things to do and saw himself above it.

I don't think the Freddie Gibbs one is a a beef like you mentioned Gibbs likes to play the role of an antagonist online I find lol he likes poking fun and joking with others. Plus Gibbs is kinda right where he says DOOM can't rap like him. Because he can't and doesn't they both have their own unique sounds and both make their own different styles within the genre so it's up to the viewer at that point to see where they sit with each

@@bbilly9359 for DOOM? I would say it's pretty much hip hops version of like avant garde. A heavy focus on lyricism. Additionally on projects like Madvillany MF DOOM has a very percussive flow that almost meshes in with the instrumentals. A lot of the beats are sampled from different genres and eras. While Freddie Gibbs is a lot more street with punchlines that hit you in the gut. I feel MF DOOM is also a lot more comical once you listen to the lyrics you can see how funny a lot of his bars are and he's a lot more witty. Although I would say they both thrive in their own individual pockets in thr game and are both top in their class. Hope that helps ?DOOM is kinda special in regards to hip hop as he has stated that he never really listened to much of it and only did it because it was like easy to him. As a youth him and his friends would play like scrabble type games and they would see what rhymed with what and then just kinda went to rapping from there at least that's what I think I heard in an interview
