    Fun story,
    Before I was born my dad bought this set for my older brother when he was born, this set was built horribly, super glue everywhere nub marks galore. Eventually the kit kinda fell out of thought, until I found it and thought it was kinda neat, it was completely out of sorts, it was kept in a toy bin for about 20 years, it was missing the majority of the parts except the main body, and even then it looked HORRIBLE the years were not kind, after getting crazily into Gunpla and building alot of kits, I decided to buy the same set but build it better. When I was almost done building it I messed up the eye sticker, I was beyond angry till I figured out that my Dad's kit still had the eye stickers, so I took them out VERY VERY carefully and put them onto mine, its kinda like I transferred the soul of the Gundam lol. I don't care how old the build is I absolutely adore this thing.

    I have a bit of a connection with the gundam GP01, more specifically, the Gundam GP01Fb. It was just after the 2019-2020 school year and my dad introduced me to gunpla with his HG Gundam Mk II. I was fascinated by the amount of detail and wanted to build my own. So the next day we went to our local hobby store to pick up a model for me. At the middle shelf, just at eye-level, was a kit that I thought looked awesome. It was the HG RX-78-GP01Fb, it looked so awesome just on the box, and when I saw that it was holding what looked like a lightsaber (I didn't even know gundam existed, so I didn't know that it was called a beam saber) I instantly wanted it. So we bought the kit (as well as the some paints because I thought I needed to paint everything because the kit would just be in white, the red paint sure did get some use for painting the beam saber since it just was a plastic white stick) and when I went home I went to town building it as carefully as I could. I sanded every single nub mark, applied the stickers very carefully, totally did not forget to put in a polycap on it's left shoulder. And when it was done I loved it! For a kit from the early 2000's it is great, the articulation is on par with other kits at that time but how it's assembled is completely different, as opposed to other high grades at the time which just had a peg on the chest that you put into the arm it's the other way around, which gives you some slight side-to-side shoulder movement. I highly recommend the HG GP01Fb because of how cool it is.

  • @StrikeNoir105E
    @StrikeNoir105E Před rokem +2

    I built this kit way back around 2000, and even my young high school mind with no knowledge of Japanese was able to build this kit without issue from the instructions with no internet help, since the parts tend to be quite unique per side, and the instructions are pretty clear on what parts need to be on each side through context alone. If there's one thing Bandai knows what to do, it's the instruction manuals that allow someone with no Japanese knowledge to build them, and it's part of why I was able to get into Gunpla so easily where other model kits couldn't keep my attention.

    You can also use one of the metallic Gundam Markers on the BACK of the transparent parts, and it gives them a really nice shine and color while keeping the depth of the transparency- and on ones that are already colored, you can use the Silver or Shine Silver on the back of them and it will REALLY pop.

    remember building this back in 2002, Impressive with the innerframe as its my first (and only mg) but was disappointed with the lack of locks for the cockpit hatch and backpack shell cover. The shield mount does work but renders it unposable for other orientation. Used a glow in the dark paint for the clear parts but messed it up as I applied it on the outer side not inner side and came out thicker than usual. The core fighter II's beam gun mount is very delicate and can break off after multiple transformations due to wear and tear.

    Sharpie for the clear parts is a pretty fun little hack to pull out every once in a while, also metalic sharpies which are pretty much cheap paint markers are a quick and easy way to do quick mechanical detail such as hoses and pistons on kits. I've got a couple IBO HGs I've wanted to do this on myself because the frame parts feel like they'd really take to it.

The Perfect Grade (2003) is old, the High Grade (2000) is very old, the Master Grade is ancient (1997) and the Real Grade (2013) is shit. I’m surprised you didn’t go into the tolerances more on this kit. Sometimes I forget to hold it by the waist and the whole thing just desintegrates in my hand.

    I have every Gundam Wing model kits and man, they changed a lot. This one is a lot like they. Each one needs a lot of paint to get right colors, but in my opinion. These older kits should be used for practicing coloring, modifying, and display customization. With the older kids you really don't need to actually pose them all get them right. You could take them and make them into a display of broken down and worn down mobile suits. Like a guy named jazza's art who does customized displays for his Warcraft and artworks. Just to think about.

    Sticker style decals, something you don't see in Master Grades these days
    *points to the MG Dynames, MG Gunner ZAKU Warrior, MG Kyrios, MG AGE-2 Magnum, MG Alex 2.0, etc*
    At this point, I think you meant the dry transfers

    GP01,02 and 03 really need a 2.0 or "ver ka" because the series designer is katoki himself.
