The Curious Case of Peggy Nadell

- Along the banks of the Hudson, NY, lived Peggy Nadell. Activist, family woman, and when she was discovered at the bottom of the stairs, he daughter thought the victim of a horrible accident. Did I mention she was rich? And that accident happened to lead to her having a knife in her chest.

There are no words to express how I feel about killing a 81 year old woman especially by a family member. She was at the end of her life and didn’t deserve to have it end at way.
What a horrible way to go. Murdered and betrayed at the same time by her own daughter-in-law.
For real, Peggy must’ve felt so heartbroken and betrayed; that woman was a monster
I'm feeling the exact same way... It's horrific. 😞
She seemed like a lovely person and if Diana needed money, she probably would've given it to her. I feel really sorry for Peggy's son. He's not only going to feel guilty because it was his wife, but he has to explain to their children how mommy killed the grandma who doted on them just for money.
This is just sad reality in America, the richest country in the World where you have a chance to be rich, live most greedy and sickest people in the World, who kill their family members and spouses for inheritance and insurance money.
She was my next door neighbor growing up, I used to do yard work every single week for her and she gave me milk chocolate from her fridge. Such a fragile sweet lovely lady. I remember the exact day when 2 officers knocked on our door and told me and my siblings to go into another room, shortly after my mom came in the room crying and told us Peggy is dead. I was 9 and remember it like it was yesterday. She named her cat and security passcode which I now know from the dateline episode after me. May her soul Rest In Peace.
Holy hell that's sad...
Kind words ❤
@annacolleen yes she was, I’d say a lot of my problems have been because of the fear that day gave me. I would always hide if I saw a car infront of my house at night thinking we where next. It mentally changed me.

Poor guy.. I couldn't imagine thinking you're gonna spend the rest of your life with the woman you love for them to murder your mother for absolutely no reason other than greed. And the sister thinking that her mother is so sweet not a person in the world would try to hurt her the way she was so it has to be an accident...Heartbreaking all Around.. 😥
How do you know he was thinking that? Maybe he was thinking "I hate this @#$@ing woman. But I want to stay together for the kids...then I'm out of here!"
In which case, he got rid of her AND has the inheritance now :)
So sad, to have lived 81 years and for your life to end at the hands of someone you thought you trusted. I hate to hear about defenseless seniors or children being harmed in any way. It's the worst of any crime.
Why would Peggys son marry that ugly fish!
So that is the story thanks for clearing that up I can't understand a word he's saying lol no offense meant.
Just like animals. Can't imagine how evil you have to be to hurt an innocent animal, person, child who cant even defend themselves

Fun Fact adenium: I work at FedEx Office here in Illinois, and I get the occasional customer (generally older) who walks in asking to "Xerox" something for them. Happens about once every other week.
Xerox lives on!!
after the xeroxing is done do they go out for a Harvey Wallbabger? Or a Manhattan?
Do they ever ask for
ditto ink?
It's a lot like the word Kleenex, which is a brand and not the actual product which is a facial tissue.
I'm in my 60s and yeah, it's Xeroxing! LOL
So awful for the husband. I cannot imagine discovering my partner killed my mother - for her money. I'm sure he was working hard to provide for his wife & children.
Plus his mother was generous to her grandchildren. This was greed taken to the highest level.
I’d kill them before cops had a chance to arrest them. No regrets.
It'd be so hard touching even one dripping red cent. Stomach-turning.
How about Mitchell Halderson? At the age of 25, he learned that his younger brother, Chandler, in order to keep concealed all the lies he had been telling his parents for over a year, not only murdered their mom and dad but dismembered them and scattered the parts here and there and even BURNED some of the parts. How would Mitchell ever bring himself to even look at Chandler again. Fortunately, he won't have to because Chandler was sentenced to two life sentences with no chance of parole.
Please add 'spoiler alert' to the top of your comment' next time before giving away the ending. Thanks!
The craziest thing about this story is that the daughter Suzanna really did, after all, think her mother fell down the stairs and onto a knife. God bless her.
I suppose her mum was such a sweet person, living in a safe area, that it never occurred to her that someone could do such a thing.
@@youeatshowieategg It’s true.

If I had to describe Mike in one word it would be “adorable”. He absolutely is. I’m old enough to be his grandmother so I don’t mean that in a flirtatious way. But I never miss his videos.
I know, I've described him to other people as, "He's just adorable." Adorable is exactly what it is. I want to adopt him, hahaha.

Don't worry, using the word "adorable" on a guy is probably the most anti-flirtatious word you could use.
"I'm really sorry for the pain I may have caused"

Remorse is far away from this one.
That is a narcissistic apology. "If I hurt anyone..."
I caught that and it made me so mad. Vile person
My dad used to work with Xerox - specifically printers. I used to go with him to work sometimes because I was often sick as a child but not contagious. So, I learned at a very young age how to fix these printers and how many wheels there were in them! There’s a lot more to them than buttons, and it was very fun for me as a kid who loved electronics
@Roz Alman 😂😂😂👍👍
Hands-on is very good...with a Dad or Mom is TIMELESS!
My mom worked as a civilian for a Navy Base in the CA Mojave Desert--"The Navy's largest land holdings!" (Also protects First People's in-place art--very cool.) This was @ 1870-71...she brought home a long-haired gray cat for us and said, "His name's Xerox!" "Zeerocks...but *why?"* I inquired. "Because he's a *copy cat!" Mom gleefully replied. Next time anyone asked about his name I told the whole story and said, "Because he's a COFFEE-CAT."
When I was in grad school at McGill in Montreal the copy machines in the library were always breaking down and it took a dog's age for someone to come and fix them. So I became very adept at fixing them myself. Years later when I was teaching at college level in Toronto one of my colleagues found me with the copy machine open and undoing a paper jam and asked what I was up to. I simply said "I speak fluent Xerox."
I am familiar with using a Xerox machine. We knew how to fix it when it would get jammed. Paper would just her stuck. Xerox guy came out a little because when the machine get down it was a major deal especially in the ER.

The rate you're blowing up on CZcams is astounding. I was talking to a fellow co worker the other day and we were talking about serial killers. He was telling me about an incident he heard about not even mentioning CZcams or you and I was like oh damn I saw a CZcams about that. I told him about this dude that makes these awesome videos about sick and evil people who commit the worst crimes and told him how you have this cool accent and pronounce their 3's funny. He was like, "yo, is it that CZcams channel called That Chapter?" Anywho, you will be a name in almost everyone's household soon enough. Keep up the great work.

Mikey was also mentioned about a week ago in a live chat during the jury's decision in the Katherine Magbanua retrial (re: Dan Markel murder)
Big facts no cap for shizzle on god
I love Mik's videos. He gives the facts of the case and people involved, calls out B.S. when he sees it, and thankfully, uploading from Ireland, he can use the swear words we're all thinking.
Even a bit of levity by making fun of himself or the asshole murderer(s),
doesn't detract from the seriousness of the stories but instead, helps us not get so emotionally pulled down by what's happening/happened, that we can't bear another story from him.
No doubt bc Mike a) keeps his content perfectly researched & presented, b) refrains from scenes of blood & gore, no matter how authentic, and always, ALWAYS c) cuts to comedy when things are getting tense--not silly comedy but ways of lightening up the tale (life insurance dance, cat appearances, "and a TURD victim under a tree" types of tomfoolery) that tie bits of the story together. It's all a perfect balance, less than 30 minutes with a great soundtrack, authentic police & court cuts, the iconic shirts (though I must admit I dig the hell out of the green Irish sweater), the Vanishing Host--I was completely drawn in by this on my first vid--the descriptions of the locales...
I like other content--Mr. Ballen, CoffeeHouse--but nothing comes close and Mike's numbers reveal that grillions of people feel the same way.
{{I grew up in a miniature town in the CA Mojave Desert. The Navy had a huge footprint there (largest landholdings, bigger than NM) for flight, test, & development.
Anyway, most of the families were drawn from PhD or at least MS degrees in physics, chemistry, math, engineering & so forth, women and men, and the overall IQ was pretty high.
There were exceptions, mostly drawn from the town built around the Base--ordinary skilled workers who built apartment buildings, fixed cars, operated restaurants, barbers & hair stylists, kept shops & grocery stores, & so on. They were no dummies for sure--they were specialists just like the people designing jets and rockets.
Well, a woman our family was familiar with was in an unhappy relationship. She had just separated from the guy and was getting her hair done to celebrate so she & the man she was newly in love with could go out to dinner. suddenly the door burst in and Mr. Wrong burst in, handgun at the ready, and shot her to death at close range.
Our town had very few murders and VERY few public revenge murders. I can't seem to dig up any information. it happened sometime between late 1978 and anytime in '80 or 81.
I'd sure love to get someone on YT to cover this case!}}

I would almost guarantee that if Diana had gotten away with killing her mother-in-law, her next victim would have been her husband. I say this because the inheritance money wouldn't have been given to HER, it would have been in her husband's name (as, he was her son). So, she probably would have then killed him so all that money would transfer over to her (and the kids).
She so easily murdered her husband's mother, then even tried to have someone else killed while she was awaiting trial. So, imo... She would likely have no problem killing anyone who was standing in her way of that inheritance money.
@@emilien. Agreed. The lack of love and regard ( plus the pure evil ) she showed for her husband by killing his mother absolutely leaves little doubt that she'd have no problem killing him next

Peggy seemed like a really awesome person. I'm glad we got to hear some details about her life and her tenacity and generosity. She definitely deserves to be remembered for a lot more than the fact that someone else so selfishly and evilly took her life away.
God that’s so awful. I can only imagine the fear she felt when she realized something was off and she tried to flee to her bedroom.
Oh poor Suzanne. Her brain was doing cartwheels trying to make sense of the brutal scene she found. She just couldn't imagine someone wanting to hurt her mother intentionally. I'm glad the murder wasn't pinned on her. Likely it's what Diana was hoping for. Thank goodness for technology and thorough detective work. By the sounds of it, Diana might not have stopped at Peggy.
Yeah, trying to process what you just found, I can see how she didn't jump to "murder!" immediately. I completely understand why she reacted that way. By removing the knife, she thought she was helping.
Please add spoiler alert to your comment if you are going to give away the ending. Thanks!
While I agree that she was clearly confused by the scene she found -- if one finds a loved one with head trauma and a knife sticking out of their chest, it's probably best to assume foul play and let the detectives go from there -- and if it was some sort of tragic accident, allow them to figure that out through their investigation. I feel like automatically assuming it was an accident can only work in a potential perpetrator's favor. Thankfully, in this instance, the investigators did a great job (unlike many other cases we see on this channel) and were able to unravel what really happened and serve proper justice. My sincere condolences to Suzanne and Bobby, as well as the rest of Peggy's family and loved ones.

We see a lot of stories where people get caught trying to murder somebody for the insurance money, makes me wonder how many others get away with it.
When my husband came home from work and told me he had a 1 million dollar life insurance policy, AND it would pay out regardless if he committed suicide. I really think the victims family should be able to say, threaten, scream, show pictures, tell a story, shit, do yoga poses- whatever they want during their statement. Without worries of being removed, chastised or anything. The convicted person should be made to stand there and *take it* for the allotted time. When else will they be able to “get it all out” towards the person that took their loved one? It could be a very therapeutic experience for the family. Just my opinion.
yea no thats unrealistic and also misses the point
Totally agree.
It's an impact statement, not an opportunity to bash the guilty. And I can easily see people going to extremes given the opportunity to do and say whatever they want. So no, as hurt as they are, and as much right as they have to feel the way they do, this is supposed to be a civilized society. The course give the opportunity to victims to speak about the impact of the crime committed, nothing else.

Imagine making it 80 years of life just to get brutally murdered by some greedy person. What a world
Oh I know it! Or wen they commit suicide. Vry sad! 😥🙏

Charlie is a cute little fella! Awesome that you're a cat person 🙂
I really appreciate all the parts where you show the house, the neighborhood, the towns, the maps and the interiors of the murder location and photographs of the family of the victim and the accomplices. That court scene was pretty amazing. She didn't sound sorry. I would have been furious, like you said with an inheritance they are going to get it anyway, wait
Mike don’t ever stop the jokes that’s what makes your channel my favourite only you could put a funny spin on these kind of stories. Thank you!!! Your still my favourite channel after all this time. I also live in Ontario lol one of your favourite places lol

Another great vid as always. Your commentary makes the stories even better. You scared the crap out of us with the SURPRISE part lol.
This looked pretty bad for the daughter having prints on the murder weapon and the shady story she told 911 operator that could of happened plus there was "possible" motive.
Thank goodness she had competent detectives on this case.
Yep, i never thought she did it. Just in the moment her mind wasn't able to conceive that something utterly evil had happened and rationalised it as a fall. Hard to know how you'd react encountering a scene like that, perhaps not rationally
She just doesn't seem like the brightest cookie in the jar but whatever.
@@fair98fair I was relieved that it wasn't her daughter who betrayed and killed her. Of course it's still very sad that she was murdered but at least her children truly loved her
She was an absolute idiot and if the victim were still actually alive, she could easily have killed her by pulling out the knife and causing more bleed-out. Absolute panicking fool of a woman.
Thank you for making not only Friday (which is for obvious reasons, the best day of the week) but making Tuesdays just as amazing!! Nobody tells a true crime story like you Mike❣️
Seriously the double upload is awesome
Ikr! Mike's great at this true crime youtubin' 🙃
Rest in peace peggy, you had so much kindness and the greed of those women took you away. May they rot in hell.
I hope her children will heal in time ❤️❤️
Dangers of being wealthy:
1. Getting murdered.
2. False affection from family, friends and partners.
3. Financial means for self destruction.
4. Being a slave to money.
5. Anguish at the memory of your dog stepping on a bee.
I like it when Mike awkwardly tells us he loves us at the end of the videos
It will never cease to amaze me the insane scenarios and stories people come up with to cover a crime. It seems like just about everyone thinks they can get away with murder lol. Watch ONE episode of dexter, and suddenly everyone is a pro. Anyway, love you Mikey! Thank you for being so consistent with your uploads. It's always the best part of my week.
"She fall down the stairs with a knife in her hands and stabbed herself".....Not even Hollywood writers are that crap at making up stories. That's like saying "I don't know what happened, she just walked into my knife, fifty times, it was bizarre".
@@Jorendo i can imagine that happening in some dark comedy/satire movie or something. its so ridiculous
@@Jorendo That was actually her daughter saying that and not the daughter in law.
Well in the United States most people can actually
53% of murders are solved and when you deduct the portion of those where the offender didn’t even attempt to get away with it that’d mean a better chance than not at getting away with it
Well, *most* of the cases we hear about are cases solved, or well into the process such as a suspect has been identified and court is going on. There is absolutely thousands others that we don’t hear about simply because they have no suspect, no motives, and/or no evidence.
Thank you Mike for not only bringing us great true crime content but also adding some light and humour into it. You have helped provide me some comfort and routine watching your videos right now when my mums just passed. Love ya!
Another tragic story, told very well. Thanks Mike!
Btw, everyone over 40 knows what Xerox is :D

This is why Mike has one of the best channels. Bc he says what's true and what makes sense. These other True Crime channels are afraid to say the word MURDER. It's pathetic.
No. That's not why they don't say it. It's a monetary issue. Welcome to TC on CZcams.

Wow, I love the new little personal bits you added. The fun fact and kitty really made me smile. As always, your videos are so well thought out. Great job mike thanks for loving us ❤️
Mike, I’d love to see a behind the scenes video, showing how you research these cases and put the story together, as well as filming/editing. You make it look so easy but I’m sure it’s a ton of work.
The editing is so bad. SO bad. Like, the first thing you notice is how bad the editing is.

I remember this case & I feel bad for what they put the daughter through, she wasn’t thinking when she pulled that knife out it was just a reaction!! Thank goodness they found out the Truth!!!
Did you see the dateline episode, the way she was talking to the cops and dateline? Her husband should have told her don't talk to anyone especially the cops without a lawyer. She was making herself look guilty and throughout the entire dateline interview she was smiling from ear to ear a big toothy grin. I know it was a nervous smile but it looked crazy and didn't help. Yes thank goodness indeed because they would have built a circumstantial case around her.

Must say, Mike. You've gained such a devoted following for many reasons but you've got me because there is no initial moment to advertise something that has nothing to do with the clip. No commercials, no cliffhangers in your videos. Props to ya man. You keep saying the numbers 3, 13 or 33 and I'll keep coming back!!

Hey, Mike, I was in the grocery store here in Phoenix, Arizona, the other day. I heard this couple chatting about whether to buy an item or not, and they were looking at the label, talking about the price, etc. and trying to sort out whether to buy the item or not. Then the man said to his wife/gf/whatever, "Let's give it a goo!" and she nodded, and said, "Yes, let's give it a goo!" I smiled and said, "Mike fans, eh?" We had a brief chat about how much we love your channel.
I hope you see this comment! You're becoming quite well-loved and we all appreciate your efforts!

He's come a long way since the early videos, when he was rather shy. I think the first video I saw was about an abandoned ruin of a church but it was so long ago, I can't be sure. I think he had like a thousand subs or something. Must've been four or five years ago and I've watched everything he has put out since. Our Mikey just goes from strength to strength.
I can only imagine that her son feels so guilty for bringing that horrible woman into the family. I know I would.
Mike Foster
I think it’s one of those situations where you think you know someone, but have no idea who they really are, or what they are capable of. Who would imagine that their spouse could visit this kind of violence on a little old lady, who was so kind and generous.
The footage of Charlie 😂😆😂😆😂😆 you're always hilarious Mike. I'm sorry to laugh here, but only at the cat thing. Great job as usual!

Can you imagine living 80 years only to have your life come to an end in this manner? It has to come as a total shock and what a terrible conclusion to a lifetime of 80 years!
Is it possible that some people are just fundamentally evil? Honestly I never have been certain about that but when you look at a case like this …
but then again, there was the usual hubristic combo of greed and profound stupidity at work as is usually the case.
But did stupidity ultimately play a role in this assassination? In my view it was reason number one, and, unfortunately, I don’t believe there is an available cure for stupidity as it is commonly practiced …
Yes, some people ARE just fundamentally evil.
"...vessels of wrath, fitted for destruction." Romans 9:22.
I think it happens considerably more than we know. I personally know of 3 elderly who were killed by their kids. Police/coroner ruled accident or age. Old people die, doesn’t get looked into very hard. Problem here was beating and stabbing and faking a robbery so it was obvious a crime occurred.
That’s why I always say, I fear stupid more than evil. Stupid can’t reason or foresee consequences.

Welcome to humanity. You sadly misjudged it. Its more of a wonder how humans do not resort to the more basics of their instincts as often as they currently do. Keep in mind that number of times is still quite up there... But lets be honest.. Knowledge of possible consequences is the only thing that stops most people.. As paper thin as that sadly really is despite the tech is to finding said people that do it.. More so when you consider the amount of unsolved killings that exist.
Then again most people feign ignorance of a thing in order to appear more innocent than they really are. Not pointing fingers here of course. As I said most people. Not all.
@@j.d.4697 You will find there is oddly a higher percentage of people who claim to be vegan are killers. But then again there is a smaller pool of the worlds population that are vegan. Not sure what that says about either group. But you know. ( Not to mention, there is a person who is considered by most of the world to be one of the most, if not the worst person to ever live who used to be a very big person in Germany was vegan.
