My suspicious mind says "What reason would the police have to rush an investigation really quickly without releasing satisfactory information? Why do they insist that none of these are suspicious despite increasing numbers and extraordinary circumstances?" I can only think of one answer, myself.

I 100% agree with your theory. I used to manage a hostel on the lake. LOTS of drunk people. LOTS of opportunities to fall into the lake. I also grew up near Seattle, also LOTS of opportunities to fall into the water. But you really have to see and feel the local area of Austin to understand. Bottom line, you are likely correct on all accounts. This area is full of drunk college students and tourists. More than any area I have lived or worked. And I’ve been all over the country.

Love the new background, green was my Mom's favorite color. There are a lot of lakes in my state of Oklahoma, there aren't nearly that many deaths in all the lakes combined. I think there may have been a serial killer at one time. Now it is common knowledge that the police don't do much investigating. Prime dumping ground for any killer.

The first case is certainly suspicious, but I wonder if the police were trying to avoid making a big public spectacle about a Muslim man committing s****** due to it being so frowned upon in Islam. It would be a very delicate situation that could easily be bungled by cops who aren’t really trained to navigate such things.

It’s probably a mixture; mostly accidents, some suicides, a couple of murders

I don't agree that the smiley faces found by the bodies are related, but there was definitely something happening along these lines in La Crosse, WI right around when I graduated college. Numerous college age men found in the river in La Crosse (attributed to alcohol consumption) but just up the river in Winona where I was there were zero cases, even though there were bars in Winona MUCH closer to the water than La Crosse. (And it was a sudden drop into the water at Winona, where La Crosse was a gradual slope).

Most of the Twin Cities (here in Minnesota) think we have a serial killer ! Since around 2013 Young men are found in the Mississippi River damn every month! There are breaks in the winter but not very long. There's always a missing person alert around Jan and not found until spring..so crazy
