My favorite Bird trash talk story 1983 Celtics vs 76ers. Dr. J vs Larry Bird. Larry Bird came out firing against Dr. J. After every score by either Bird walked up to Dr. J and whispered their individual score in his ear. Imagine someone torching you.. He is politely telling you he is torching you after every basket... And there is not a damn thing you can do about it. To make a long story short.. They finally got into a fight at 38-6. When asked about that fight Bird stated, "I was up 38-6, that's how I summarize it." I would be ready to fight too.. It's like, damn, my pride can only take so much, Larry. You ain't got to be disrespectful and polite at the same time. Dude was just a savage in every way you could possibly be.
Craig Ehlo tells a story where Bird hits like 10 shots in a row on him, the last one left handed and then ask him "is your mother watching" and then another story where Rodman is guarding him and Bird hits like 4 straight and goes over to Chuck Daly (Rodman's coach) and says "you better put someone on me or I'm going for 60" Rodman said "I'd be all on him trying to deny him the ball and he's yelling at his teammates "I'm open, hurry up before they notice nobody is guarding me"" then he hit another one over Rodman and goes back over to Chuck Daly and says "you better get this guy out and put someone that going to guard me cause it's too easy when I'm this open"
I like when he told rookie Reggie Miller, who was trash talking him while Larry was at the free throw line: "Listen rook, I'm the best F-ing shooter in the league. In the league, you hear?? And you're there trying to tell me something??"
People used to say Dirk Nowitzki was a poor man's Larry Bird. Dirk ain't no where close to Bird's level. Much better passer, shooter, and he took over games.
No matter how athletes have improved physically throughout the different eras, one thing that translates in any era is the mental preparation or competitive spirit of these greats. For people to say this era couldn't compete in that era and vice versa are just ignorant.
Bro Larry bird is a tougher durant, ive heard nobody say Larry wouldn't be able to play in any era, he's one of the most interchangeable players, plug him into any era you want
You are kind of right. But truthfully, floppers would not make it in the 80's and 90's. Basketball was borderline just as violent as hockey. Fact check it
@sooner in texas....what nobody ever talks about when comparing era's is that those guys back then flew commercial. I'd like to see how many players today would be stars if they'd had to spend all day waiting around at the airport and then playing the game.
Bird was a great passer as well. An elite passer! There is a difference between being a good passer and a willing passer. Bird marks both on those boxes with checks.
There's a video of John Stockton at the Dan Patrick Show saying that Larry would go to their bench at the start of the game and tell them "I'm thinking 43 tonight" and later scoring exactly 43 before going to the bench
Larry Joe Bird is the greatest SF of all time. 110% most complete player you’ll ever come across. He gave his absolute all every night he was on the floor, he took no plays off, & played through countless injuries.
Dude, you gotta react to the Bird/Dominique famous 4th quarter dual. Game seven of the ESC 1988 championships. The most famous fourth quarter in NBA playoff history. Keep up the great work bro!!
Best LB trash talk line? When asked how he felt about Laimbeer not making the 87 all star team bird quipped “I think it’s great. It saves Bill the trouble of having to say hey Larry how you doing? And it saves me the trouble of having to say: go fuck yourself Bill”
NBA was different in those days . An interesting player was Andrew Toney he got injured and was not the same afterwards but man before that was tough. Tim Hardaway sr too
Bird would actually tell the other team the actual play the Celtics would run, the exact spot he'll shoot it at, and still bust they eye wide open. Bird was a f**king savage.
The last one where he’s playing with an injured elbow. Apparently he hurt it by getting involved in a bar fight prior to. It plagued him throughout the playoffs that year.
Thing about bird. He couldn't jump he wasn't fast. But he put 110% in every night. He was humble In a sense but on the court he was superman. He was really down to earth. 1 fact his pops killed himself. Researching Larry birds life is very deep
Larry Bird to me is top 5 all time but that my opinion. However if you don't at least consider him top 10 all time then you don't need to be talking basketball. The man was an absolute monster!
Larry legend was a beast, and i HATED him, was a 76er fan and a Laker fan and wouldnt admit how good he was even though i knew it, because he was killin my boys.
you keep talking throughout when the video is being explained and you miss so many details because you won't listen and take everything in. you can't learn very well reacting like that. if you have something to say, pause the video,.
Your Larry Bird videos are weak. Doesn’t show who Bird actually was. He was a MONSTER. No one could guard Bird. He would purposely get a rebound under the rim, dribble to the three point line just to shoot a 3 pointer and make it, nothing but net.
The best comment is when he told Barkley that they were disrespecting him by putting a white guy on him. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤦🏽♂️
YES ... lol

Yeah but the games are just two diff to even compare. What constitutes a foul, traveling etc has changed

@@jamesdavis9747 Floppers would be laughed or booed off the floor.

Stockton's rookie season, I believe.
7:25 They missed Larry’s most savage quote ever about the heat in the stadium: “I love to play in the heat. I just run faster and create my own wind.”
Larry Joe Bird is the greatest SF of all time. 110% most complete player you’ll ever come across. He gave his absolute all every night he was on the floor, he took no plays off, & played through countless injuries.
Clyde "The Glide" Drexler!

Ron Harper was nice before his knee injury too
Nice RESPECT to UNDERATED Andrew Toney 🤙
And NO ONE had a LEGIT crossover like Tim Hardaway! Chris Jackson was close. Did Iverson ever make a move w/out BLATANTLY CARRYING THE BASKETBALL?
Larry Bird was a BAD man. Not the most athletic but he could play. Just a great great player.
Bird would actually tell the other team the actual play the Celtics would run, the exact spot he'll shoot it at, and still bust they eye wide open. Bird was a f**king savage.
Checkout Charles Barkley especially the early Philly days
Bird was a shit talkin tough baller! I wonder how his later years would have been if his back didn't betray him.
The last one where he’s playing with an injured elbow. Apparently he hurt it by getting involved in a bar fight prior to. It plagued him throughout the playoffs that year.
No. The elbow was hurt by a fall on the court. Bruised it good.

Them subs is going crazy
Dominique's nickname was the human highlight real , you ought to check out some of his dunks sometime
32/33 was an awesome duo!
Can we stop the players are more athletic nowadays bs. Shit is nonsense
Still need some VC highlights
💜💜💜 your reaction!! You're hilarious too!😁 Wish I seen this earlier. ✌🏼 & 💜
That instrumental is from the international playas anthem ugk feat OutKast checkout the video
Pretty sure he was playing double vision in the second half of that game where he cracked his jaw
Charles Barkley!!!!!
Bird was the best White Boy EVER
Well skill isn’t limited to race, one of the best players ever, best SF ever. He played every position
LARRY IS TOP 15 a legend fasho
Top 15? Learn about the HISTORY OF THE GAME, especially when refs ACTUALLY REFFED!
Larry would get pissed off if the opposing team put a white guy on him to defend him. He thought it was disrespectful 😆
Love Larry Legend;]
Check out one of his trash talking videos or 50 passes you will probably be entertained he was something else .
Wanna hear something scary ? Just imagine Bird ....with Lebrons body .🤔.....SCARY
You need to watch bird vs Jordan
Larry Bird to me is top 5 all time but that my opinion. However if you don't at least consider him top 10 all time then you don't need to be talking basketball. The man was an absolute monster!
In all fairness... almost every white boy from the Midwest had a mullet back then😁 I did.
Larry legend was a beast, and i HATED him, was a 76er fan and a Laker fan and wouldnt admit how good he was even though i knew it, because he was killin my boys.
If you make NFL videos you have to make one of Barry Sanders, Deion Sanders, and Lawrence Taylor.
Check out Dominique Wilkins to human highlight💯💥
Did I hear him right? Did he say that Bird had spent the night before that Pacer game in the hospital in traction for his back?
Yes.
When he hit the floor his teammates had valid reasons to think his career had just ended.
You gotta think most team back then have big 3’s and they made them look like poo butts.
Fix the title bro. Savage not savge
Thank You
Dominique Wilkins was a problem too, he & Jordan went at it during the NBA Dunk Contest in 88' shit was lit

Better than LeBron.

No disrespect to your favorite player but if you could put Larry Bird inside Lebron’s body... not sure if Michael would be such sure thing as GOAT.
Lebron is not even Top 5.
