Eddy got more correct answers than Brett. He really is the Viola King. 🤣🤣🤣

It's sad that he's not good enough to play the viola.
Actually Eddy goes to more concerts and orchestras than Brett
He might be a viola player in disguise lol
Plot Twist
Brett is the Viola King he was playing so well, then Eddy guessed them right.
I noticed you can sight read alto clef, but claim to hate viola...INTERESTING
I love how they're really good at playing it, also...they don't show it much but you know they both can shred that thing. Behind the scenes you know they're hot for viola sometimes.
@@mattimaranda9638 😂😂
They used to play viola.
Grade 5 Music theory and up, you must be able to read Alto and Tenor clef lol. I play the piano but I can sight read in Alto clef.
They plays the piano
Here's a true CHALLENGE:
Guess the concerto by the percussion part! Coming from a percussionist I wish you good luck sirs, because even we can't understand our part

I'd be able to guess at least Holst's "Mars, Bringer of War" by percussion alone. Love that movement

there's viola concerto ?
Ling Ling can play both the violin and viola part simultaneously on cello
While reading bass part
While using the treble clef while cooking for his Asian motha after he study all while running track
and sight reading and blindfolded and doing jumping jacks
And sleeping and showering
While singing the bass
Nice to see you two getting some use out of that viola. Maybe if you practiced it you could play it, too.
Kristine Carlson they can play. Because the viola is slightly bigger and the strings are placed a little differently, it makes it harder to adjust to the viola when playing the violin beforehand.
@@LOCAL_LEE well sure but their tone on viola is pretty bad, they also need better intonation.

I believe you’ll be a Ling Ling between violist
Tbh though, I don't pay much attention to the viola part in violin concertos (or most other concertos) because 99% of the time it is really really boring

And here's me with bass clef, alto clef, treble clef, octave-treble ("Dvorak") clef, tenor clef, soprano clef, baritone clef, and French tablature. Such is the life of a violist da gamba.
For advanced study, add French violin clef, mezzosoprano clef, and seven additional sizes/tunings of the instrument. If you are Ling Ling, add German tablature.

Wait, did they just sightread music for an instrument that they don't play in a clef that they don't play?
It's very common for violinists to be 'converted' to the viola section when there aren't enough violists. If they're professional players, most likely they have performed on the viola more than once already
Uummmmm.....yup
well the viola just lacks the high e and gains that low C, meaning that in treble clef they read the same but move the string 'down' to the next lowest, as for the clef, its a bit confusing sometimes
Mech WARRIOR57 especially since the alto clef is one octave and ONE NOTE off from treble... couldn’t they have made it exactly one octave lower smh

Violin logic...😒
I love viola harmonies. Quite often, I am unaware of how the violin melodies go, from the viola seat, and years later hear it on the radio and have that ‘so that’s how it goes’ lightbulb moment. 💡
#violagang
I love them too☺️I’m new to viola and it’s been a revalation to hear the inner voice of pieces. I love the way sometimes viola has this push pull thing with the rest of the orchestra too, sometimes totally fighting it or echoing something while they are off somewhere else. Counting rests is awfully hard at my beginner level though 😆
dghi
Oh well........🙃
Musicians are supposed to listen to others when they play with them, though.
@@jaydenfung1 listening to those around you for synchronised energy and timing are different from listening to just the melody (I would not be doing my job properly if I only did this). 🎻🤘
That might be a balancing/ensemble issue then or you might be playing too loudly in your own ear if you can't hear the melody. Good ensembles emphasize active listening and if it's something with few parts like a string orchestra, then they can typically hear all parts and know who has what

Lilly Dreher sometimes bassoon does I think
@@lillydreher426 I think alto sax does, but I've never laid eyes on alto sax music sooooo
@@lillydreher426 Mostly if they use a clef that looks like the alto clef, it'll be the C-clef on another line and tenor clef rather than alto (it's one line different). Occasionally trombone parts use alto clef for high passages, and you find alto clef in older organ books as well, and like very very very very old copies of, you guessed it, alto parts.
@@adelinaarmstrong9423 Alto sax uses treble clef. Tenor sax and baritone sax also use treble clef. They're transposing instruments so you write music for the note B (for example) and a different sound actually comes out. This is convenient for folks who play more than one type of saxophone, because you just see "B" and do the "B" fingering.
Watching Brett playing viola makes me realise how short he must actually be 😂
He's 5'5" or 5'6"! So not too short
i also suspect he might not (im not sure) have long enough arms to play a full-sized viola. i also suspect their viola is full size (pretty sure). but im not sure if such a difference actually exists between him and his viola.

I love these videos, but what we REALLY need is more cello content. Sincerely, the best section : )
I ever read a comic book. There were 3 students singing. One was melody 1 , second was melody 2, third was like an accompaniment harmony (maybe like a viola) ? She harmonized or maybe made the song kind of perfect and nicer. And in the comic, there was a part when the third felt like she sucked too for her unimportant role 😂 but then her friends help her to gain her confidence. Without her, the melody 1 and 2 are too dominant. And they made a perfect trio harmony in the end.
I think viola does it too for violins ! It smoothes the song with its few notes. Foods are more delicious with chilli. Maybe sumthing like that 😝
I dunno, im pianist anyway 😆

Just came back from the Dallas show, and it was pretty great. Congrats, guys.
I got excited when I saw this because I thought maybe they were finally being inclusive of my instrument for once
But then I realized it was probably 11 minutes and 29 seconds of roasting instead
I don't feel like I can laugh along with them anymore, I think of all the kids trying to learn viola that end up on the receiving end of this and it's starting to seem like a shame.
@@TheSIGHTREADINGProject Well unfortunatley, a lot of the time younger musicians don't understand that viola jokes are all in good fun, and sometimes that can result in bullying. However, it isn't TwoSet's fault for making these kind of jokes, and there is no need for them to clarify or stop making them just because of the minority of people that don't realise they aren't legitimate insults. It just goes to show that a joke can easily go too far, and that there is a clear time for these kind of jokes. Unless somebody is genuinley offended, I see no harm in poking fun at your violist friends, providing that it dosen't go too far and end up hurting people's feelings. So don't worry about the viola jokes on TwoSet violin; they are proffesional musicians and it is all in good fun and is not meant to be taken seriously.
Maisie B - I see your side and I’ve loved watching TwoSet for 18 months. But where they begin, their comment section follows, taking it further and further - and if I’m starting to find it hostile then surely others are too. There’s a girl in the comments feeling bad about her viola and a school cellist beginner saying he wanted to learn viola and switched to cello because of watching TwoSet. These are youngsters and the ripple effect of the ‘jokes’ is reaching them in real life.
I also felt uneasy about the treatment of Alma Deutscher, who was 12 at the time. They have even made an ‘INTERESTING’ t-shirt out of her roasting. If I was her parent I’d be fuming. 12 is so sweet and innocent an age and not fair game for public japes
Much as I like Brett and Eddy, I think it’s important people push back and say something if they think something is out of order (even if it’s only me!). It’s harder to stand up to people you admire and like and so all the more important to take a breath and just do it. It doesn’t mean you don’t like them anymore, just that you didn’t like what they did at a particular point.
Enjoyed reading your perspective. There’s a lot of wisdom in that too
@@TheSIGHTREADINGProject That is true - twoset 'memes' can often be very harsh.. but there was an entire 'viola gang' meme. Eddy literally rapped about how the viola was BETTER than violin! Also, they have/do sell viola related merchandise, so that it is more inclusive for all players.
By the way, in the Alma video: I found it as though they were very impressed with her playing. They mainly said negative things about 90 minutes, (such as the bad cutting which COULD make the video easy to fake) the whole interesting and Bb meme was only reflecting that she was very talented. I mean, it is not easy to improvise stuff in one minute after all.
Glad to hear your thoughts as well 😁
@@TheSIGHTREADINGProject If you really want your views to be heard, I think it is worth emailing TwoSet directly about your concerns. (They usually put their email in the description of all of their videos).
Maybe if you (and others) are sensitive to these kind of jokes, it is worth staying away from these kind of 'viola' videos. I know it can be diffucult to predict/put a measure on what videos you wouldn't enjoy watching, but it is worth trying if the content bothers you.
P.S Love your channel!
