H/H match update: ... Today's action: It's always sad when a champion only wins $100 before being defeated... Our new champion is hoping for some better luck with her go at the Super Match. Today's audience match question: "Mother of _________ " (My thoughts: Pearl, the bride, ???) The celebs: Richard (Pearl), Brett (God), and Charles (us all). The choice: Pearl The answers: The Bride, Invention, Pearl Interesting that today's champion choose the same celebs in the same order as the prior champion... Well, now that's she's pocketed $500, we get to see who she chooses for a go at $5,000. I'm betting it's Richard. It is Richard. He's matched all 3 of his most recent attempts. Today's H/H question: "__________ Rule" (I'll say Golden. Although slide is tempting, given people still used slide rules back then.) The camera cuts to the contestant as Richard writes. He doesn't take long to file his response. The champion says "Golden." Ditto Richard. Richard scores his 173rd H/H match today. Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Brett - 41.4% (24 wins in 58 attempts). Richard - 41.0% (173 wins in 422 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 727, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
I know! Who say that? He wringed my nose? I wish I had a dollar for the many times I heard, I'm gonna wring her neck! But I've never heard, I'm gonna wring her nose. LMFannyO
I hear it too Imagine that. It's Feb 5,2023. And that noise is still here. Never the less I enjoyed this episode. 👍👏👏👏. Loved this group of stars. 🥰 🙂💕👋.
I wasn't absolutely certain that mother of invention would be up on the board, but I was reasonably sure it would be, Charles had the best answer with nested in the fig leaf
They REALLY shouldn't have matched tinkle with WENT, after all there's also the proverbial number 2. I guess PC took root back in the mid 70s, when 2 years earlier there was some loud grumbling about the song short people
Deekman-Bell, round 2, question A: "No, I don't see how a city slicker could mistake a milk pail for an outbuilding… She might mistake cream for a cosmetic, though, so I said DID MY NAILS." (Bzzt!) Question B: "Nah, I don't think the other answer's so terrific. BLUE!" (Ding!) Tie-breaker (though how that could have happened, I don't know), question A: "This time, I did like the other terrific answer. TURN YELLOW!" (Bzzt!) Question B (just holding up the card, probably): NECK Super Match, part 1: (if asked before Brett) GOD (if asked after Brett) THE BRIDE Bell-Taylor, round 1, question A: "Am I on the bottom? Okay, good. STICK!" (Bzzt!) Question B: "There's a lady who's never seen a fig tree. Those leaves are huge; that's why Adam and Eve wore them - and why the sparrows NESTED IN them." (Bzzt!)

Ethel was in Airplane too
@@bulafritz I know, I remembered that just after I made my comment.
@K Kr it just came on tv . So cool
RD with a compliment for Ethel Merman at 8:40 on how she was playing the game...
He was usually very gracious and helpful to the new players unlike Brett
Richard was a honey, but, IMHO, a hound dog.
Ethyl’s cool.
Would love to see some behind the scenes stuff…if that exists

Bad sound on this one
Wow it sure is
I think they were having sound issues during this episode because Gene asked if Avery's mic was on.
The sound is not quite right in this episide.
OH NO!!! She said, "Nose", and I went into shock.
I know! Who say that? He wringed my nose? I wish I had a dollar for the many times I heard, I'm gonna wring her neck! But I've never heard, I'm gonna wring her nose. LMFannyO
12:12 Ok, Last chance for Mother of Pearl, "Slide it Earl. "
12:28 "Thank you Earl the Pearl."
The back stage cast were laughing because they knew the question was funny….
Panelists:
1. Avery Schreiber
2. Brett Somers
3. Charles Nelson Reilly
4. Ethel Merman
5. Richard Dawson
6. Joyce Bulifant

They're called Bed-Buggers.
I never heard that before, but it's gotta be true. Bedbugs have made a huge comeback, and they are very difficult to eradicate.
I miss midget humor
we're really short of it

Amazing no one thought of Mother Theresa!
@@sheristewart3940 Or Mother Goose.
Why does Brett always make that stupid “you tell them, fat lady”? It doesn’t make any sense.
She do anything for attention. Samething every show look at ME........
She often says "you can swing it in ragtime "
When someone is skinny, it's the perfect joke!
