- So I didn't want to go to a hairdresser just for a half a centimeter trim. So I decided to try following some easy CZcams tutorials on how to cut your own hair at home. I followed the Beard Technique. Oh, and I don't even own hairdressing scissors, so after Googling, I learnt that I could use fabric scissors. #beardtechnique #over40 #southafricanyoutuber #haircutting

I followed the video and trimmed the back of my hair. It came out great! Thank you very much!😊
Oh wow that is so wonderful to hear! I am so happy!
I just tried it myself. It worked great thank you
My absolute pleasure.🤗
I use fabric scissors too since the pandemic, I watched tons of videos and started cutting my own hair. Works out for me ❤
That's so great! And yes, fabric scissors are ultra sharp and work really well!
I have cut my hair a lot over the years. When it had some length, it was never an issue but back in the 70's when I had a foot of length cut off and went for a short pixie, then I went to a salon! I never trusted myself to do anything besides my bangs when it was short. Getting the split ends off every 6 weeks or so really helps the way it looks and I have just never been a fan of going to a shop to get the ends trimmed and coming out feeling like I have just been to a barber shop and have a man's haircut! So, now I do my own all the time. It's not long but not short, either. But, I do have some waves and curls, and I have recently done the wolf cut because I need some layers. It turned out great. You have beautiful hair and now, you can maintain it yourself, if you choose.

You did a fantastic job! It looks so neat, and I think the slight curved shape really suits you.
This has given me confidence!
Thank you!
@katyb2793: I agree! She did a fabulous job, and the subtle curve is lovely. Mine is the same length and desperately needs a trim. Bravo, Louise! Going to do it myself, thanks to you.
It’s so pro! You did a beautiful and so lovely cuts! It’s awesome. Congratulations!😊
Ah thank you!
Such a cool DIY. I also cut my split ends every 6 weeks or so. 😅
That's so cool! What technique do you use?😊 i might be brave enough to cut a bit more next time. Thank you for the comment and for watching. It helps my tiny channel grow. 🤗 Gosh I had uploaded this with typos in the writing.🙈🙈🙈
This is a really decent video! Thank you!
Aw, my pleasure. Thank you for the kind comment. X

It looks great
Thank you! 😊😊😊
Very pretty!
Thank you.
not bad at all...good job!!
Thank you!
Real hair scissors aren't very expensive. Maybe $15-20 or less depending where you buy them (Target, Sally's, Amazon, etc). Much less $$$ than going to a salon and does a much better job than regular or fabric scissors.
You are so right! I did invest in a pair of real hair scissors after this!😊
I use some men's grooming scissors that I got from tjmaxx for like $3 🤣😅 they're tiny but they get the job done
You buy the hairdressing shears once and use them every time you need a haircut, so it’s not the same as going and paying for a haircut. And you can get a really cheap pair that are way better than fabric scissors for your hair.
Very good point. 😊😊😊
I cut my own hair once a year and I tried this technique and it worked really well and was easy ❤
Thank you for sharing that. It is pretty easy. Thanks for the support and comment. Xxx
I looks in very good condition great cut it’s straight
Thank you.😊
Could you please make a hair straightening video?
Hello! Unfortunately I can't, as I do not straighten my hair, it's naturally quite straight.
Do yourself a favor and splurge on the salon scissors. Even if you use them just once, they essentially pay for themselves in the fact that you didn't pay for a visit to the salon, and you own something you can just put away until you want to use them again. I've been cutting my own hair for 20+ years and I can tell you--using sharp, professional scissors makes a HUGE difference (although it looks like you did a nice job with your fabric scissors).
Thank you! I actually did buy proper hair scissors and now use them to cut my son's hair too. 😊😊😊
nice haircut
Ah thank you😁
Ayy im doing this,i have a salon appointment in a week,if fck up i can at least fix it!😂
Best of luck, hope it goes well.
Don’t bend your head. Keep your chin eye level, are sure every single section is combed through super smooth and tight!!!! Former hairdresser… great job!!!!!👍🏼🇨🇦
Ah, thank you, great tips! But how do I see what I'm doing if I keep my head up?
And hello, Canada! Yay, I'd love to go there!
Hii it's very nice 🙂
Aw thanks!
Would you ever consider cutting your hair shorter if you were paid?
Lol...no...why do you ask?
No it would not defeat the point, you pay 20- 30 once and then it would no longer cost you because you ALREADY HAVE your hair supplies for bext time
Very true! And I did actually go buy hairdressing scissors after this.😁
Couldn’t you find some bigger scissors?
😂😂😂😂
Que lata de video
Could not appreciate this video because you did not show as you were cutting & were very brief on how the back turned out
Sorry I do apologize, this was one of my earlier videos. My video quality has really improved in the years since this one, and I even have a microphone now.😊
We can't even see you cutting your hair because it's below the camera
You are rught. I do apologize, my video skills have way improved since then. My videos are much better now.
