    I do this 3 times a month, and you did it just like I do,I hate remodels but they are 75 percent of my workload and service is the rest.

      Aye man I know a plumber that started his own business and just JUST does water heaters he streamlined his business and specialty and makes STOOPID change.

    😂😂LMFAOA😂😂 Your RI is fine but an OATY POS drain? I'd be VERY suspicious of any "Tile Company" that thinks that is a good solution today😂😂. Furthermore how did you have the slightest clue what the elevation of that drain had to be? I want a 6" stub above the floor an *I* will cut it once I know what kind of pan I need to build and have it laid out. No way in hell do I want the plumber gluing in a drain fitting that is probably at the wrong elevation

      It’s called an adjustable shower drain that you can unthread or thread in to match up with finish floor, anybody who has been plumbing for a little while can tell that.

    I once spent over 4 hours trying to chip away 60+ year old concrete! I literally had to pulverized it to enlarge the hole! And i was using a actual corded jackhammer!

    What’s something like this cost? I got a quote for $4k just to move the drain on a rough plumbed unfinished bathroom. Seemed high for just drilling concrete and moving a preexisting drain.

    What code states you need a hammer arrestors on a shower ? IPC and UPC allow for 1.5in drains on showers as well FYI

      I'm a sparky but I assume it can apply to other trades with similar customers to the ones I'm talking about.

    Venting must be within 3 ft from drain. I don't see one. Need access to Hammer arrestors . They break too. Overall clean job

      Passes inspection/code here without access panel. The vent was off the toilet so it was within three feet (barely). Appreciate it 🤘🏼

      Never had to replace. Pipe made hammer arrestor.. 25+ years of remodeling. 😂😂

    I like using the laser to line up the c/l of the drain. How did you determine the elevation without the shower pan handy?

    What made me hate remodels was my own house. Got a forclosed home and basically rebuilt it. The gas, electrical, water, drain and sewer, heating, fixtures, kitchen, bathrooms, laundry are all new. Starting on the main bedroom now.

    Why would you move the trap further away from the vent?? Shower drains can be on the right or left as well.

    You still have a one and a half inch drain it Hass to be taken back to the stack, yes it will work but no not code

    I did a pan liner in my shower under the tile,their great if the installer knows how to do them.Otherwise they will be a knightmare…I get calls from east long island to manhattan to do these because ive never had an issue installing one..

    Man youre lucky they ran a 2" trap arm for a tub. That never happens.

      1-1/2” isn’t ideal, but its a shower, not like you were emptying a bathtub.

    2 things come to mind…
    I don’t see the financial benefit of turning a full bathroom into a 3/4…
    And is the conversion to 2” pipe just to fit the shower? Cause if I’m not mistaken 2” pipe works like a 1.5” if you connect it to a 1.5”
    Not a plumber just trying to understand what’s happenin (;

    I used to do plumbing, but we never put a p trap for a shower drain... are there specifics that would necessitate that? because nothing comes to my mind

      There would have to be a trap somewhere on the shower drain or you would get sewer gases .

      @@theplumbersplunger I never went far enough to learn all the details surrounding the work, but we never put p traps in the showers, it was always left as an upright before the drain fixture was put on
      Must have been either the ground crew put a p trap in deep before the foundation was laid, or my crew was jacked up. Hopefully the first because we did entire neighborhoods 😂

    In ohio showers can be 1-1/2 drains by code but why not select end drain shower could of saved alot of time and money 🤔

    I cannot believe anyone would switch a tub to a shower. It makes zero sense. Ove avoided moving to places because they dont have a tub. Just shower in the tub!!!

      Maybe they're older and stepping into a tub is becoming more challenging for them.
      I haven't sat in a tub in maybe 10 years, probably more, and would absolutely replace a tub with a shower if I anticipated living there for several more years (I haven't moved in over 20 years, also my home has a shower in the master bedroom separate from the bathtub).

      I’ve been doing bathroom remodels for over 30 years and never had a client ask me to replace a shower with a bathtub but I’ve taken out countless bathtubs to convert to walk in showers. You might prefer a tub but a VAST majority of homeowners don’t.

      @@onyxnoodlewow thats wild. I'm def in a minority if you've done this for 30 years. I would die without a tub. When my muscles ache a lot after exercising or just because, epsom balt baths help immensely so I cant imagine not having that.

    Why aren’t you saw cutting first. Same kind of work as not having an access panel for those mechanical fittings. As well as not soldering. This looks like lazy man work. Is it legal? Yes Is it professional? Nope

      ​@theplumbersplunger The few things I gathered from his comment are that you didn't use a circular saw for your cut out on the concrete for a cleaner cut. I guess he wants an access panel on the other side of the wall, and wants purple primer on the glue joints. From there on it seems like jiberrish but. I guess he's calling you unprofessional for not sodering something. What that something is, I dont know. 🤷‍♂️😂

    Biggest blunder is when my parents removed the tub and put a shower in …. In a one bath house u need a tub. When I purchased the house…. First thing i did. Install a spa tub. Kohler makes. Custom to color. Drain position and length. Best investment i made ….

      I live in san antonio and was quoted 3k by one plumber and 7k by another. I ended up getting the job done by an apprentice plumber for 1100$.
