  • Is the Tamiya universal driveshaft hop up option any good for the TT02 speed runs? It's a costly upgrade that we'll put to the test in this video.

Tt-02’s sound super smooth with the stock plastic gearing, despite what some people say, the stock plastic ones are actually very durable. Those drive shafts will be alot better for the car if you do add more power as they will rotate more freely. Great video as usual😎👍🏼

Thank you. I figured there more for turning at speed but might be beneficial if we get it going faster.

I love the sound of that car! I think you need to check the propshaft to see if it runs freely. This should not have cost you any speed. If you take out the motor you should be able to feel if all runs ok.
    Thanks for sharing!

Actually the steering upgrades provide more stability in the turns. As a speed run car you don't need them. That said there some meaningful upgrades to the steering that are half as much or less of the aluminum update. Also the Tamiya upgrade is better than the cheaper Chinese knockoffs.
There is quite a bit the modeler/basher community can learn from the racing community.
Otherwise I look forward to the rest of your series.

Yeah the steering hasn’t been an issue for going in a straight line. Probably an expensive not needed upgrade.
