- Hey all Jake here, dumb as ever, and in this video I talk about several transformers toys that were NEVER released, including G1 Unicron and Arcee, Beast Wars Neo Unicron, Transtech Starscream and Cheetor, and Animated Marauder Megatron and Hot Shot.
This was a super fun video to make and I loved researching all of these awesome transformers toys that never came out. Shout out to CaseOh!

Seeing Hasbro make these Bumblebee movie concept art figures... I'd kinda love to see a Transformers line dedicated to unused concept art and cancelled figures. Maurauder Megatron VS Trans-Tech Optimus, Titan Class G1 Unicron homage...it would sell so well. Great vid!

A coda to Hasbro deciding to do TF Prime instead of Animated season 4 was the production company/producers behind Prime were apparently a huge pain in the ass to work with, largely ignoring the continuity bible Hasbro had put a lot of work into, and refusing to integrate lore from the War For Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron games (which had already graciously incorporated the Prime tv show's lore).
Lesson learned from this experience and the very family-unfriendly content in the Michael Bay movies, today Hasbro has greater creative control over media using their brands.

All the cancelled G2 designs were amazingly 90s. I’m glad we’re finally getting some of them in Legacy

Being a kid when Beast Wars came out and Beast Machines existed, I can confirm. Hated, and still hate, Beast Machines. ADORE Beast Wars. NEVER hated it.
oho, I see, so you've been doing this for a while. i THOUGHT you seemed a little good for someone with so few videos under his belt, while at the same time kind of low-key in that "meh I've put in the work before, it didn't pan out" kinda way. Would kill for the Animated Hotshot. He’s one of my favorite characters ever, and I wish it was real. I grew up mostly on UT and Animated. When I saw him S3 of Animated I lost my little mind as a kid.

I’d love to see transtech get some kind of realization outside of the prototypes. I like the designs, plus it sounds like it would have the maximals fighting the decepticons. Like we saw the maximals see the G1 characters, but they were all in stasis, and Starscream showed up as a ghost possessing Waspinator. Still wish they kept that idea, and implement Waspinator’s transmetal form. Hell, I wish all the original season 1 maximals and predacons got a transmetal form

making the toys was actually pretty easy since the show character designer also worked with the toy designers both worked to make the toys as accurate as the character and the character would soemtimes get tweaked to be more accurate to their toys as well.
we also got a third party of that transtech cheetor
Just discovered your channel and am looking forward to more videos. A couple of points. One, I was there for the online discourse during the Beast era and NO the fanbase was not then nor is it now united in loving Beast Wars. There are still plenty of us never Beasters out there. Back in the day we were the trukk not monkee crowd. Yeah I will give you Beast Machines was universally hated, rightfully so, but there are still plenty of Transformers fans who never came around to Beast Wars. But you are right that many fans have come around just not the entire fanbase. Lastly I respect your opinion on Animated but I wholeheartedly disagree. Next to the Beast Era and Armada, Animated are in MY opinion, some of the worst toy designs and I just wanted to share that cuz you seem cool and can handle discourse lol. Anyways stay cool.

Those transtech designs would have been super interesting to see mainframe pull off since they are soooo much more complex than any of their designs in beast wars or beast machines

I can recommend the Flame Toys Furai Arcee, yes it's licenced, yes it does not transform, yes it's a model kit. :D
On G1 transformers season 3 got weird having many characters (the quintesons, Unicron) as main focus point but there was no toys. Having many Decepticons with few screen time as the combiners. Never understood why the cartoon became a bad toy commercial. I think the lunataks from Thundercats had similar story

When ReAction came out with the mini "large" Unicron prototype figure, it only made me want it that much more for a real thing. Maybe Hasbro will grace us with a pseudo-Studio 86 version of it :D

I think it's probably more likely to get made as part of Takara's Missing Link line. They could pretend that the prototype was mistransformed, allowing them to add additional steps to Unicron's transformation and improve upon the unfinished design. I hope Arcee also gets similar treatment, based on her 80s prototype toy.
As far as unreleased figures go, the most famous one for me is the original Toxitron. :)

It’s annoying that hasbro/takara are so mad on scale. Face it, a unicron that actually scales with a deluxe size figure would be as big as a house. Just give us a g1 accurate legacy deluxe unicron figure. That would be cool!
It would be cool if Haslabs came out with that Unicron toy. I agree it is kind of funny looking, but I think it's great too and it would be a lot of fun to own one.
That Transtech Optimus design is insanely cool. If it were real I would be swinging that truck around by its bed like a pickaxe lol

Animated was at least at the time, the best transformers toyline we'd gotten. What they did with those impossible designs, making them work, deftly adding in things missing from the animation model because western artists cannot into mecha (like necessary but missing joints), somehow improving both modes... They did a great job.
Can you imagine is Animated Hot Shot came back for Legacy? It would be AWESOME.
Beast Machines is as bad as all the fans remember. I watched it as an adult, and also, Sparks were absolutely introduced in Beast Wars, not Machines.

Yeah, that show is not good. None of the characters behave like the characters from Beast Wars, and the ending is awful.
It felt like the writers wrote a completely unconnected story, THEN watched BW, and afterwards they shoehorned in references to BW to try and tie the two together. (Just like ND Stevenson did with the awful "Princesses of Power" cartoon.) The whole thing should be rendered non-canon. I want Hasbro to make a new sequel that continues on from Beast Wars and erases the events of BM from continuity.
@Rocket1377 it's actually worse than that, they were specifically told not to watch Beast Wars and Hasbro just told them to include certain things

The best Arcee toy is the first edition Prime figure. It’s amazing. I know it’s not g1 themed, but it is the best to have that name
Although I did grow up watching TFA here and there growing up. I honestly don’t think it’s just nostalgia that makes the figures so good I recently got ultra Magnus from value village and I have no nostalgia towards animated Magnus and I still think it’s a amazing figure

I’m surprised fans haven’t petitioned for a Transformers animated revival
Back in 2011, I was hoping to get Animated Wingblade Optimus Prime, Hydrodrive Bumblebee, Goldfire Grimlock and Blackout. I got the Takara versions of three of the four, but I sold them off later. Given the G1 and Beast Wars vintage lines we've had recently, I'm hoping Hasbro can do the same for Animated and re-release its cancelled toys for something like that too. I asked one of the members of the Transformers brand team from the Hasbro Pulse live streams at a convention about it, and their response was to stay tuned, given that Animated has been included in the Legacy line. I also would still like to get Marauder Megatron too, and given the concept art Megatron we got from Studio Series recently, which was actually inspired by Marauder Megatron, I'm hoping they can make a concept art figure of it for Legacy too. It's also worth mentioning that Animated's character designer, the late, great Derrick J. Wyatt was thinking of colouring Marauder Megatron in a style similar to Beast Machines Megatron.

No cancelled toy will ever make me as upset as Legacy Straxus. He was originally planned as the main antagonist of Legacy's storyline, but when they didn't give it a tie-in show Straxus was dropped and replaced with Dragon Megatron. Don't get me wrong, TM2 Megatron is great, but fuck I wish we had gotten Straxus instead.
For anyone curious, TFwiki has a trivia point going more in detail on the page for G1 Straxus, alongside some concept art of what he would have looked like.
I think i found somewhere the image of a full transtech cheerir robot mode! Thered also an immorticon and megatron prototypes (they look due to the quality but its real) and the rarest prototype image is transtech ultra class prime

My white whale is ROTF Elita-1. The chromia repaint released in 2010 cannot be the original figure. A Hasbro rep announced that instructions for the three motorcycles' combined mode would be released online. This never happened. What makes the most sense to me, is that the originally planned Elita-1 figure was cancelled and the repaimr created instead. They never combined in the movie, rhey had barely any screen time, and ir would be a lot cheaper to repaint one of the other two than fully produce this final mould. I'd give it all up for just a glimpse at what she sbould have been.

I feel like Transtech Starscream, in bot mode anyway, has a real "Bayverse Blackout" vibe to him for some reason. I think it might be the chest shape. Am I being totally insane here?
I feel like he has the bayverse vibe in that he looks nothing like g1 screamer, besides that maybe his face has similar vibes? Hes a weird fella regardless

Animated was such a great mess. It proved that you can design how ever you want and it will still be a toy, but it came at costs that the developers never mastered even with a CG source
If they made that g1 Unicron toy I would buy it.

I remember back in the day i wondered why they never put out a toy of him, along with galvatron and the sweeps etc pretty much the star attractions in the movie. But yeah seeing these prototypes and having the "to scale" models they make nowadays in the back of my head, you have to figure it just wasn't all that doable at the time.
i remember when i was 13. when the transformers movie came out. me & friend had an argument about unicron beaning a toy. he told me that they did make a unicron toy & he saw it. I thought he was full of shit at the time i didn't know that Hasbro made a unicron prototype.
To be fair he probably was full of it, to my knowledge the Unicron prototype wasn't revealed until Botcon 1996

I honestly don't think Animated won the Twitter poll for being the best show but for being the show with the largest amount of cringy OCs, making it the most popular, not necessality the best, specially considering it's one show that seems relatively often stated by TF fans as their most hated show
