1/2 Day Trip Baling, Kedah Perfect Weekend! Lunch in the river, caves, kampung life!

Perfect destination for a 1 day trip from Penang! We took a 2 hour drive from the island east to Baling, Kedah to see the rivers and kampungs around the area. It was Thaipusam Day and quite crowded in Penang, so it was somewhere we could go to avoid the traffic jams. First we stopped at BM for breakfast... the popular Pek Kong Cheng food court. The famous "white wanton mee has also moved into this area!
After breakfast we drove another hour or so to a village near Sungai Ketil, along a road near to a famous Ikan Bakar stall. Very scenic and beautiful views all around, and an interesting cave. You can rent huts for RM10/hour if you wish.
We then headed to Sungai Legong to a chalet/ restaurant called Rimba Cafe where they served classic Malay kampung food IN the river! So cooling and refreshing, plus the food was good too. The kids had fun playing in the river and rented rubber tubes to float down the river.
A super fun and excellent trip!

Bro it is really nice and relaxing, and not too crowded! One more thing I would add to the trip is to visit Gua Sireh. There is a cave like Gua Tempurung, unfortunately I only saw it on the way back... no time to go already. Next trip maybe!

Along those legong river there multiple of campsite and chalet, all are river side with easy access to the water,. The hotspring only crowded with people in the night..
Ah yes... should have mentioned those campsites! Can Google the different ones all along the area. Hopefully I have an opportunity to go again.
