  • HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS! My last video of 2023, let's welcome in the New Year! In this video, we show you how to make Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee from scratch and give you an idea of whether it's worth your time. We start with where to buy all the ingredients, then show you the recipe and method, and finally, we give it a taste test. We also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of making your own Hokkien Prawn Mee. So, sit back and watch to see if it's worth your time and effort.
We pit our homemade Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee against a hawker's to see which one reigns supreme. We take you through the entire cooking process, from buying the ingredients to the recipe and method. Then, we give it a taste test and compare it to a hawker's version. Watch this video to see who comes out on top!
Our journey starts at Chowrasta Market, but first we get a taste of Everyday Hokkien Mee at Tian Tian Lai Coffeeshop just next to the wet market. I talk to the kopitiam owner and also Hokkien noodles seller for some tips and it is indeed a lot of hard work! Hope everyone has a great 2024!!! Happy New Year!

Comparing the hawker food and home cook very much different. Yeah! It taste delicious outside but we do not know what they have put inside. Home cook much better, you maybe able to watch what you put on, not too much salt or no MSG(drink throat dried after ate the food). Btw.... I tot you went to market, alone but I noticed, you brought along your wife, 2nd daughter and son. Very familiar people. Haha. Syabas! You have becomes qualified chef. Yr family members which we are not recognised came over to eat yr Hokkien Mee Soup sambal. Umami. Next time, there will be Udaddy. I know, I'm sounds Corny. Haha 😂

I can't get local ingredients where I live. I ordered a jar of Malaysian kaya on Amazon a few weeks ago and I am eating it like gold.

Wah so tedious la want to prepare and cook hokkien mee. Also need plenty of cooking utensils. I'm so used to make rice cooker/one pot biryani 😂. Dont need a lot of periuk and wok.
