That's what I am talking about excellent ay to fillet a VAN!
Couples goals
Saw the thumbnail in my recomended section..... and I am like.. is that Taku!
Side note for the use of a tape measure; use the tape starting at the 1 or 2 inch mark. This will help for precise measurements where 1/8th or 1/16th difference could change the installation. In the design of a tape measure, the top of the tape has a moving metal piece that is designed to take measurements from edges. The movement of that piece can screw you over of you're not careful.
One reason for installing the window from the outside is because the alignment of the window matters most from how it looks from the outside. But you made it work so no issues there. Great job and I admire your confidence in what you do.
I admire how you just jump right in there and get things done. Even if you had a little anxiety around cutting, it didn't show. You're doing a great job and I'm enjoying the build. Just remember to have fun 😃
After watching your channel I keep looking around at used car places that have van’s going that would make a great camper, and I’m not even wanting one 😳
A magnet is handy to pick up all the metal swarf.
Literally 20 videos into outdoor chef life and i had no idea taku had another channel
Go Tako! 👍
Well done looks awesome
Looks good Chef!
Yo if you build this van life and make it like a video like other people then your ganna be my favorite van life youtuber. Get it
Other than shavings the main reason to cut from the outside would be space and flat surface. Inside the van your cramped in and that top cut line will not be easy to cut because it is so close to the support above it. But either way as long as it works that’s all that matters! Keep going bro
Came a long way from the first hole. Very satisfying to watch
Taku the handyman! I would be scared to cut any holes into the body of a van? Good job!👍👍👍
Can't wait until you hit the road with this sprinter mobile home !
After watching the roof vents, it's STILL scary! But you guys are getting there!
Nice 👍 Have to comment on seeing your mini commercials outstanding !
Van life seems like such an epic journey. I can’t wait to see the finished vehicle and for you guys to set out on your expeditions. So excited for y’all!!
What a strange rainstorm at the end of the video!
Glad you checked it was waterproof! Thanks guys for sharing.
You’re just an all around guy. Good job 👏
Good job! Like to see people doing this kinda of stuff on their own.
Awesome! Not a single leak.
I don't think there is anyone I'd trust more to cut a hole into the side of a vehicle than a sushi chef
I love this series, congrats on the van...you deserve it!
Nice install of your van side window and you didn't "Total" your van ! Good Job 👍 Thanks Taku !
I think you still should have use caulking on the inside of the window for longevity. Cant wait till to see what u do with the van.
Love seeing the van build!! Can't wait to see it finished!!
Really good videos, I can't wait to see the finish..... you should fish lake Natoma near Sacramento..... it is gorgeous..... very full all the time no motor boats gorgeous
One of the cutest parts of this was the kids in the background.... it isn't scripted it is real.
Yo this is my first time seeing this. Didn’t know there was a completely different channel.
Awww yeauuhhhh!!!! I can't wait for y'all to get ta driving!!
You do it from the outside so you know it looks good in that location. What if you cut it, then go outside and discover you would’ve wanted it further back or forward?
These videos can't come soon enough! Love the progress. More more more!
Love the progress!
Yaaay updates
Loving all the progress you all are making 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Sweet beard dude
love this!!! Cant wait to see the end product!!!
Great job!
I really like this series of videos good thing to have the balls and brains to do all of this lol
Could you imagine Jocelyn shows up and say move it 3” to the left 😂
It’s coming together nice! 🤙🏽
What a cool project. Good on you two!

I was just thinking about you guys the other day. Glad you posted an updated. Great job on the window. Nice! Stay safe and TFS. 💖
So excited for each episode and to see how this turns out!
Looks good man !! Can we see it from the outside ?
cant wait until it’s done 🥳
Good job Taku! I would love to do this, a self build and then travel around!
So cool! Greta video!
Nice
Awesome work Guys 👊🏼😎, coming along Nicely 😉👌
Gang gang im so excited for this van build!
Your videos are so good. Looking g forward to the adventures you guys will have in this beast!
Taku, nice job!! That's quite a bit of work to finish the van.
You should really get a black marker it comes in handy when marking cut lines.
Great Content Taku. ♥
But please be Safe both of you, wherever you go.
Hugs from Philippines 🇵🇭 🤗
No bad comments yet! Haha all love I know most people just trying to help.
cutting from the outside might be easier on the exterior paint. Might get some spiderweb cracking in paint layers if your grinding from behind the paint layer.
hell yea!! A 2nd channel I never knew about. Time to like all the vids
Greetings from Thornton Colorado!! Nice job. Just subbed to this channel too!
Yesss!!!
Dope
You have a very good approach to the the way you work, i like the attention to details, and double checking everything. Look forward to seeing more of this build. I have a 2017 Sprinter Class B..its pretty sweet..I mounted a rod rack in the back for my fishing rods. Did you do a video with the overall outlook of this project? like to see what you have planned.
Planning on putting a large Outdoor Chef Life CZcams decal on the van?
We don't plan to so we can keep it stealthy
I'd prefer they didn't simply because that would put them at a lot of risk I feel. Recognition is nice, but also dangerous.
Less shavings inside? Cutting from the outside
I’m a retired machinist, truck driver, mechanic, welder, fabricator. I shut my shop down and we’ve been full timing. Wish I was in your area Taku. I’m really close to Leif of NWFS. If you EVER have any question about fabrication please email me through my channel. I can do it all and my advice is totally free.
I just seen your Ad with mini
😂😂😂 that kid!
When we install new windows in a house we never put the screw in the middle underneath the the slider pretty cool man takes a lot of nerve to cut a hole into a van like that
are you guys going to do some sound deadening as well?
Cutting outside is less metal shavings to clean up inside. I guess
No sealant around the frame at the outside?
Wow. Im pretty early!
You should put silicone / isolation from the outside/ inside, before put the parts and drill together
If u cut it on the outside... all the metal shavings will be mostly on the outside.
You still need to silicone it. That foam strip will eventually fail and water will get behind your walls.
If you cut it from the inside, the outside will not be as smooth? I could be wrong.
I would skip all that and just do the top.vent and start the wood mounting and insulation.
Top vents are done, we have a vide on it. Windows need to be put in before any wood/walls and insulation are put in since that would make it difficult to cut holes in a van and install a window.
Lmaoo that kid streaming his lungs out in the background
Mo more chef’n so it’s Van Life now ?
ay brah u have a twin and hes my causin yall look alike lol
Dooooope
You should probably avoid breathing that paint if possible, even though you aren't using it much. 3m sells nice inexpensive respirators on Amazon. That paint can really screw with your lungs.
I'm a chicken so I probably would have paid for the windows to be installed. LOL
There vlogs are too short man. Next time make it longer. 👌😄
You should check out BuckSD on Instagram for ideas for your van!
Nice!! Metal SHAVINGS... not metal SHRAPNEL!! Check out Rich Rebuilds.. he’s building a sprinter van too.. and it’s funny AF!!
*H O T*
U call that a window?
wear gloves is also very good idea metal is sharp and metal splinters deadly
What can you not do? Seriously.
Rip headphone users
I bet you won't 👍all the comments.
Van Build? seen it before, boring, let's get to the traveling part.
